Seen so many shots of Jed, I understand your fondness for him and the memorial video you did, Jake. His passing was too close for me joining the channel to appreciate what an awesome dude he must've been.
@@Aerialist_vlog As I understand it, late in 22, Jed was called to a job with severe storm damage and in a cluster of partially blown trees, a large limb that wasn’t visible fell out as the trees were being felled. Jed had the misfortune of being right under it. RIP Jed… definitely a super cool dude.

A lot of these were part of a tree felling course that he put a video out about earlier. All the trees were killed in a fire and they were felling them to practice how to take down big trees.
Jake you should make a video on what rigging you keep on your belt when your cutting up in a tree , that would be awesome and have job do one too .....
Parted my ignorance but I am equally as curious. All of these trees look to be dried out and dead - are they're being cut down because they are a danger to others such as hikers or campers?
@guiltyoftreeson - My wife always gives me a hard time about watching your videos; but then brings it up to everyone who needs tree work done around their house. So I must thank you for putting out fantastic content that has allowed me to safely help people here in Alaska. Next, and most important - your green and black long sleeve safety shirt, What Brand are they?
Good fun stuff. Why do you run your saws at full throttle just before shutting them down (time26.00)? A video suggestion that might be hard but=for wooded home owners such as myself I have cut down many tree's and have found a time or two where they fell just off of where i wanted them and they have hung in a tree next to it. Anyway to explain the best way to cut that correctly after its hung? (outside of dont do it in the first place:))
So the second part of the dead Maple (day three) is still to come? I felt bad for you on that one there was no place to go to stay safe. It was cool to see the forestry work that will keep people and wildlife safe from all of that dead standing timber. It was probably good snake habitat though. Can be kind of scary cutting dead trees all day.
I have a question, what happens to all the trees that are cut down in the dense forests? Are they left there to decompose or are they processed for firewood, furniture,... Because a lot of them are burned, injured or dead. Bur like what happens to the still healthy trees? Greetings from Belguim!
Looks like those trees have been standing a while from the amount of regrowth brush and the breakage. The butts look sound, but second and third cuts look pretty rotten on some of them from the way they fall apart on impact.
Yes I would like to let Jake know if he doesn’t already on his MS500i on the bottom of the saw at the oil adjuster there is a role pin you need tap down. This will increase the oil to the bar. I hope this is some help. Todd Richardson
If you're looking for video ideas, I'd love to see a video for how to deal with snags and leaners. Fun video, Happy New Year! Question on notches: Why sometimes level cut, then come in from the bottom vs level cut and come in from the top. Why one over the other?
Been watching for a while. just out of curiosity, do y'all ever use jonsreds saws? IV ran many makes of saws but they happen to be my favorite. Might just be my luck but iv found them to be reliable 💯 I also have a sachs dolmar. I paid five dollars for it at a yard sale in a box tore to pieces. Put it back together and tossed a carb kit on it, been running like a top the past ten years 🤷🏼♂️
Dont know about the US, but here in Sweden, Husqvarna is shutting down the Jonsered brand (Jonsered has been part of the Husqvarna Group since the late 1970's) this year. It's gonna live on in Finland for two more years, before being phased out there as well.
Pretty sure you are refering to the footage starting round 06:20? Including the fire damage trees. Think this where they took some industry training (big tree felling course)
