Thank you for contributing to the crafting delinquency of a senior! I have a Fiskars slide cutter and just went to Michael’s and got a Fiskars “paper cutter”. The didn’t have WeR. I do have a six hole punch by WeR and it is really nice.
When I was very young I was so afraid of the guillotine style cutter, but crafting has helped me get through that. I sew and consequently have so many craft tools. It is a fun addiction!

Thanks so much!! Watching videos like this are saving me money cause is helping me pick my paper trimmer preferences so my first ever one will be a really thoughtful purchase and hopefully long-time great belonging for the day planner biz/shop I'm starting! I'm a minimalist wanting to pick quality from the start and own just one.
My preferences I'm thinking this big one may meet:
I want a flat surface 12" x 12" can completely rest on, don't know if I prefer how guilitine (sp?) vs. slider feels though do know I like safety but have no kids around and am careful and definitely do NOT want a blade that constantly dulls or too frequently needs replacing, ideally never needing replacing. So thinking probably guilitine. I want to be able to cut from tissue paper to at least medium chip board, and multiple pieces of thick paper, the more at once the better. Only 1-3 pieces cardstock at once is fine. Clean, straight cut without excessive force or strain needed. Stable and won't slip around. Built to last. Optional but bonus points if it's also a score board. Clearly readable ruler down to at least eighth of an inch. Light and compact is nice but if needed to meet the other criteria I'm okay with big and bulky and have a place it can live. I don't expect to need to travel with it extremely often and am okay carrying it if I do (hey, has got to be better than when I used to travel to massage therapy clients with my massages table!). For my purposes I think I can easily live without scoring for now and doubt I'll ever need to just cut one section of a piece like near the end of this video shows. As for price, under $35 is ideal but can consider paying more.
The We R Memory Keepers one that's also a score board is only $13 at Joanne's right now so that's very tempting as a maybe good-enough-for-now budget-friendly option!! It has mixed reviews though. I respect that their first version of it had issues then they greatly revised it with version 2!
    P.S. Sounds like a parrot?🦜

    Hi Maria,
I have the 9" Tonic cutter like Crafting Vicky uses because i started watching her 2 yrs ago.
I like how the We R has the lip so the fingers don't get cut. My 1st trimmer was the old green and purple Cricut and when i saw MayMay use the new Cricut i bought that one. TFS

For the cricut trimmer and any like it u should cut from bottom up which should give u a clean cut when u go top to bottom u risk a crooked cut just my experience also with tissue etc up don’t start in the middle always bottom to top

I have the grey Fiskars trimmer. I have the same criticisms as you do. I hesitate to get a guillotine trimmer for safety’s sake. But I think my kids are old enough to nit put their fingers in there....so maybe I should consider this.

Shannon, definitely keep the guard on and teach them how to use it properly if you get one.

Thanks for doing the review and the research. Do any of the guillotine trimmers have an extension ruler?

I think it’s interesting you’ve had those first ones that long! That’s cool. I never keep anything for that long, which is sad.

I’ve got a more modern version of the fiskars trimmer you showed, I do like it but it has just started to not cut square. I have a small tonic guillotine which I like but it only goes up to 11cm. I need a new trimmer but don’t know what to go for.

It's so hard to pick the right trimmer, My two favorites are the We R Memory Keepers guillotine and the Cricut with the sliding blade. My real favorite is the Tonic 12x12 guillotine trimmer but it's far too big to use on the videos.

@@craftyria I need to do more research. I might contact Fiskars and see what they say about my model. It’s handy for workshops with the extending arm that folds away (not that I’ve been to a workshop for nearly 12 months 🤣). Thanks for taking the time to reply. You would be welcome in my virtual coffee shop any time

I saw that WRMK has come up with a 12" Guillotine Trimmer. I was thinking of buying the tonic before that. Which 12" would you recommend?

I love both my Tonic 12" trimmer and my smaller WRMK trimmer. I would recommend either one. I haven't seen the WRMK 12" guillotine cutter but am very excited to see it. I'll have to watch for it to come out.
