    Weird. In Tellez's two career ejections, the camera angle seemed to be the same: showed him reacting to the ejection in almost the same location but the actual ejection motion is off the camera. Just coincidence, I suppose.

    It would be funny if his voice was higher just to troll all of baseball lol. He's goofing around about it now so I'm kinda just smiling and waiting to see what happens next... the channel is great! Everyone I know has been complaining about the baby nonsense every player and manager has been displaying toward the officials this year and this channel does a good job explaining just the facts.

    In situations like that one, it’s always easiest to say, “Yep, and it’s still a strike” and let it go. If a player continues arguing, then run him. But that was a quick toss.

      A. You don't know what was said.
      B. His manager was already tossed for arguing the calls from the night before.
      C. When it comes to arguing balls and strikes, it's never a quick toss. The rulebook say you can't, so don't do it.

    Listen, that was soft toss either way. He is frustrated he struck out and it looks like all he said was, that wasn't a strike, and he was tossed. The bat throw is typical of any end of the inning strike out. I think it goes back to the lineup card toss, and he was already just tired of hearing it. He has grounds for ejection cause you can't argue balls and strikes, but that was soft.

      @@Subangelis Balls and strikes get argued all the time and nothing happens to players. Using the “you can’t argue balls and strikes” argument to defend why he was quickly tossed is pretty weak. Easier to simply say, his name is Rowdy Tellez and he carries no cred with umpires.

      @@Mattywill29 Technically, the umpire had just asserted that was a strike, therefore even "No it wasn't" is "argument". But it was extremely soft to toss him for civilly disagreeing.
      It's sad to hear people always fall back on "Well the rules say he can" when the real objection is to selective enforcement - which uses the rules as a doormat in spirit, if not by letter.

    The Strike zone for the both teams were entirely different and horribly inconsistent for this whole weekend series. Pitches that were strikes for the Brewers, were the same exact pitch were called as Balls for the Twins and then the strike zone would narrow and widen with 2 or 3 pitch's apart from each other. Terrible BS called series for all 3 games really. These umps outta be investigated and suspended, a 6 yr old could of Umped these games better.

    He threw the bat and then asked the umpire was that a strike you could read his lips and then the ump through him out of the game. This crew was doing nothing but gunning for the Brewers the whole series The only good umpire is the umpire who doesn't inject himself into the game.

      Because you don’t argue balls and strikes at all, calm or animated doesn’t matter. By saying “that wasn’t a strike” you are basically, in an albeit calm way, arguing and going against the umpires call. That’s all it takes.

      @@nateward9592 Nah. Guys do it all the time. They'll say, "That was outside." or "That wasn't there." or some variation. The same way coaches and managers will bark from the dugout. When guys do that to me I'll simply say, "I had it on the corner." or something. If he lets it go and doesn't make it personal then it's no big deal. Guys get frustrated -- sometimes it's not really at you, but you are the convenient target.
      Now if they make it personal, like saying, "Your zone is shit" or "You're terrible" then you run them. But saying "That's a bad call" or "You missed that one" is a pretty mundane comment. Unless he has been at you all day and you have previously given him a warning, that is.

      @@totallykoolyeah Dude, we take so much abuse out there that we just let roll off our backs. I do work with guys who are too quick on the trigger, but the vast majority of us just shrug it off unless it 1) gets personal; or 2) they start bringing previous games into it; or 3) you've warned them to stop and they keep going. You only see the highlights of ejections, not the rest of it.

    Why was Pat Murphy out there for the pre-game in the first place, if Counsell came out of the dugout to argue Tellez's ejection? It seems like he had an agenda all along and wanted to settle a beef with Johnson.

      Not everyone will agree, but the Milwaukee fans love him for his nickname (which I get the feeling started as a loving tease about his gentle teddy-bear nature). Took forever to get them to stop chanting his name when he walks up, and they'd still be doing it today if it weren't obvious he feels the pressure and he's more likely to swing at garbage.

      After the fiasco that was the strike zone on Friday night, Murphy absolutely went out there to get tossed and let the crew chief who was extremely poor the night before that his performance was below par for a major league umpire.

    If the bat throw was okay by itself then it HAS to be okay if he throws it and says something, if the batter is okay saying something then saying something HAS to be okay with a bat throw…. this plus that equals an ejection is not in a rule book…
    for all we know he wasn’t arguing balls and strikes, maybe he turned to the umpire and asked if the first strike was the very bottom of the zone that’s a legit question to ask in empire and it gets asked a lot, in almost every single major league game…. a player has to know the parameters of each individual umpires strikes zone

    I swear these umpires are little girls now. They want to be athletes so bad to be noticed so they eject as soon as they can so they get noticed. Don't get me wrong I'm for umpires calling ball and strikes but they are getting worse and worse and if you even say 1 word you're ejected yet I've seem umps say all kind of words to players and coaches that provide situations.

      They're mad because Brian Gorman looked bad for doing a makeup call that was two balls high, and then unenthusiastically (to _his_ credit) threw out the batter for being pissed.
      So to _their_ discredit, like Ron Kulpa in the infamous "I can do anything I want" incident, they were looking for excuses.
      I keep wanting to watch games where top athletes do their best and are judged fairly, but I keep getting boring, aggravating rerun of the Don't Hurt The Umpires' Feelings Show. Maybe I need to "change the channel" to Asian baseball.

    Getting tired of saying this BUT the ONLY way you are going to get a home plate ump to refocus is to plunk him when the affected team is on the field next. Fast ball high and the catcher swallows a bug and misses it. And if the field umps get outta hand, plunk them on a pick-off attempt. It works.

      BS, a coach or manager bringing up anything that happened in a previous game will be ejected 100% of the time. Really dumb of the coach. You don't know what Tellez said to get himself ejected, but arguing balls and strikes will also get you ejected.

    Umpire did a great job here. Rowdy is not good enough of a player to argue like that. He's a bum.
    Called strike was a great call and Rowdy was the one who swung twice and missed the ball both times. Grab some pine, MEAT!
