      @@KeyleeTamirian I've been playing the SNES/Genesis/Turbografx/PSP versions together to compare, people say that one is the best but I don't really see why. The SNES one seems to have the clearest sound and snappiest drums. Turbografx had pretty clear voices in the cut scenes tho

    Ya this track brings back such fearful memories because right before Chester chucks you down into that area he says, "Down below is a river of lava from which none have returned." already setting up that you're being sent to a place where you will indeed die. The music hits this even further as in the middle of the song it sounds like you've been put into a desperate situation with no solution. The worst part is those damn fire birds because they never stop spawning. The lava arc that chases you was pretty damned annoying because it moved fast enough to always hit you when you ran away from it. Running towards it on the way back wasn't so bad because you fit right under the arc everytime. Fantastic track that suits the area it was for.

      Hang on let me mute this atrocity.
      That’s better. I forget what the remake is called. Any good? Like if you played the wonderful genesis version, would you suggest I play the remake?

    • @JacobHalton
      @JacobHalton 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@gamergeek7482 New one is called Oath of Felghana on PSP. I tried all the old versions and I still think the SNES has the best animation / sound, even though the Tgfx still has way more story and audio in it. Ironically the "turbografx" doesn't have very good graphics, and especially some jittery parallaxing that SNES handles just fine.
      Apparently people hated Ys III just like they hated zelda 2, because it was a side scroller...just like zelda 2. PSP version is a mix of side scrolling and top down, it's a really nice mix of the original 1+2 and 3
      In my opinion the SNES sound has the most crisp drums and identifiable synths.
      If you like more modern orchestral RPG music you'd probably like the PSP default music, but they let you switch between that, the PC-88 music with a better sound quality, or one that's probably closest to the genesis version. I find those real instrument ones to be kind of generic though, doesn't sound like Ys to me.
      PSP has great remakes of Ys 1+2 though, and the PC-88 music on those sounds really cool and retro.

    • @gamergeek7482
      @gamergeek7482 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JacobHalton gotta disagree with the SNES version. Found the music was terrible compared to the genesis. Almost like someone dropped the ball and purposely made it that way. Because I’ve played street fighter 2 on both and genesis was downright criminal.
      Maybe I’ll try the remake of Ys III eventually. Also I did enjoy Zelda II.
      EDIT: although if I’m honest, this isn’t the worst track. Town music is cringe worthy.

    • @JacobHalton
      @JacobHalton ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Benjamin Jagun I don't agree, and I don't get why everyone likes the Genesis or PC versions better. It might sound less "chiptune-y" but it's all muffled, and the drums aren't as snappy on any other system as SNES. All the SNES sounds might be less "real" but they sound much clearer, and since all of them sound like a video game anyway, I prefer the one that sounds the most like a video game.
      Check out "chester's theme" for example, the drums just sound like some fuzzy midi static. I just played both and everything is much clearer on SNES. I really don't know what people are talking about when they say others are superior because they all sound like garbage to me. Even the modern ones with more real instruments aren't as good because it's less punchy.

    I love this song, it sounds like a battle theme of the anime "hokuto no ken" (fist of the northest star, AKA "omae ha mou shindeiru" ), and it remember me the battle Ken vs Raoh. Indeed, I am with you on that. It was more faithful to the TGCD original and was a pleasant track to listen to. This one is okay, but doesn't have the same punch. Then again, overall I feel the Genny version of Y's 3 had a better soundtrack. The only ones that top it are the TGCD original and Oath in Felghana.

    • @BeefJerkey
      @BeefJerkey ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@DesertRainReads TGCD is not the original. PC-88 is. But as it turns out, the Genesis version is _very_ loyal to that one with only a few minor differences, because the sound hardware is almost the same, so they didn't have to change it much. Also, worth mentioning is Ys IV: Mask of the Sun on SNES, that soundtrack had more quality than this one, because of the different composers.

      @Benjamin Owuye Jagun Mega Drive and NES versions are master pieces for sure. But this SNES version simply hit different..it's a straight banger of astronomical proportions. And I typically find the SNES soundcard to be too flat in comparison to the Genesis soundcard -- which effortlessly produces beats that slap like no other system.

    • @DesertRainReads
      @DesertRainReads 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, the Genny version is better, and this is coming from someone who loves both systems. The Genny version is more melodic, striking and faithful to the original and it has more punch overall. I feel the soundtrack is actually better overall on the Genny.
