There is still some guide mades. Like Cyberpunk 2077 to covers. Could you also do unboxing of old one found on sites like Abebooks and eBay brand new old stock?
This is so sad and chocking. Printed guides are very important to me and I own close to 200. They are natural extensions/addons to games and I love just looking in them for the art. This is one of the saddest moments for me as a gamer and I am wondering what will happen to all my digital guides I have on Prima’s site as well.
This is such bad news, just having electronic guides is not the same as having a book in your hands, going to miss the smell that some guides have when you first open them, stupid I know, this is a complete shock.
It's crazy how little attention this tragedy has gotten. Some of my best childhood experiences were leafing through the Tomb Raider guides while playing after school. There is nothing that replicates that experience. I'm buying a used copy of the Tomb Raider Chronicles guide right now because I never had that one.
Don't be sad the new Zelda Tears of the Kingdom got a nice strategy guide and a lot of other big recent games like FF16 got them as well. Even if Prima is gone there are still other companies. You should come back and keep it up with the videos 😃
@@Strategyguidereviews They wanted to make a guide for Nioh which I was really looking forward to as that game is packed with things to learn, but unfortunately it didn't happen.
I found you 2+ years too late. I was digging through my old DoubleJump Disgaea series strategy guides and was wondering if anyone had ever done any channels like yours. Bright side I have a large backlog I can push through, downside -- it does not seem like anyone is going to fill the strategy vacuum that Prima + Brady etc. left behind :( I hope you are still enjoying newer games even without the guides.
Its definitely a dark day for us guide fans ! not a news anybody want. i like books to ! i will miss these ! for rest i am not sure if My region is on their map ! Prima Games was true global and still is !
It's the end of officially licensed guides, anyway. The impression I got is that Prima would have moved to electronic guides anyway if they'd stayed in business, they were pushing those more and more. I wouldn't give up hope entirely, though. I subscribe to a magazine called Nintendo Force that started up after Nintendo Power went away, and I still get a magazine in the mail every other month. It's just no longer official and is community-sourced, and if I'm not mistaken some of the old NP staff are there. They funded it through Patreon. I think it's possible that we could see, especially for more popular games, more people getting together to have a guide printed up. Basically, we no longer have a real company making this stuff, and now it's just going to be community-sourced stuff of varying quality that will cost more because it can't be produced at scale. My point is, if we can get the community together to put together a gaming magazine that needs to be published every two months, we can get them to do a few player's guides that only need to be written up once. In the meantime, there is still GameFAQs, people do still write guides on there. And you can still print them out. It's nothing fancy, not like an official guide, but it will get you through the game, and it's better than watching a video.
Terrible news, though if anything good can come out of it I hope that this might lead there to be more demand for companies like future press and piggyback, which could either inspire them to do more or lead to more people doing this work
Don't cry!!! It's just a sign of the times sadly. :( Although I don't have a lot of guides I can say I hate watching videos for strategy. Oh well... Maybe you can revisit past guides to keep the channel alive?? Or heck, try to get in touch with people at Prima to get background info, stories, etc.?
Physical games themselves is next to go extinct. Not trying to kick you while you’re down but just saying. It’s amazing that guides lasted almost til the end of physical media when you think about it.
I like watching videos, but I like the strategy guides as well! This is bad news! I found out yesterday when I read GameInformer. I just bought an old Code Veronica guide a year ago.
That is really shitty news. I kinda knew it was gonna happen soon the way it is today but I blocked it out. I will always cherish my guides collection :(
If you were an animal which animal would you be? Cheetah, ha. Try working games out then peeking on YT like the rest of us. Strategy guides are going the same way as all printed books obsolete, dry your eyes it's time to take the stabilizers off & just game.

It's not stupid. I've always felt the same way about print guides.
future press is good

There will be a Darksiders III guide out on November 27 if you're interested.
Christian Glaze Thanks for letting me know!

I hope Future Press don't close. They make some of the best guides I've ever seen, like Bayonetta.
I hope not either! They're just not very active lately so I don't have high hopes. :(

Man that's tough to hear I love my hardcover strategy guide books
I have to agree, FP guides are high quality. I only have a few but they're really valued.
Future press are awesome guides
Sorry for all the employees hope they land on there feet quickly

Their Dark Souls 3 guide was pathetic

Waxifari You're absolutely right. Ever since the Prima/Brady merger, I've known this day was coming. It just sucks now that it is here. 😊
I just got a sealed xenosaga episode 2 guide a few months ago it's pretty rare
