    At any given time the player who masters the Alapin best is known as the Alapinhead. A title that remarkably irritates them to no end.

    That second game was a very nice win. Thanks Daniel.

    Naroditsky is a Alapin expert, on top of being extremely good at bullet. He's not in Carlsen's class, but if the time control is that fast and you play against an opening he knows well, he usually gets close to Magnus' orbit in strength online. [Something Kramnik is incapable of understanding.] Interesting, he didn't play that well. I wouldn't want to have the position he got in that game.
    Second game was nice to see as well. The consequences of king-side pawn moves, not to be underestimated.
    Great Chessable courses, great books. Looking forward to this one completing the set.

    Hi Danny! years long fan, enjoyer of all your content, and appreciater of your dedication and hard work. Been hoping it would have got worked out in due time but I wanted to chime in now to request the Windows sound alerts be turned off during video recordings. They pepper, I'd say, a bit too many of these invaluable resources :D
    I estimate that right-clicking the volume icon (desktop: bottom right); selecting "sounds"; and in the following "sounds" tab, under "Program Events": Changing "critical stop" and "notification" to "(None)", which is at the top of the list in the drop down menu under the heading also named "sounds".... I estimate that at least these two changes would be a welcomed improvement by diehard fans like myself. All the best!

      It's not Windows that is creating extraneous sound. The mic picks up the keyboard, that's all.

    • @inkblack8385
      @inkblack8385 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PowerPlayChess oh yeah, the keyboard sounds aren't a big deal. I meant at 17:30 for instance. This sort of thing happens often enough, I thought I'd bring it up. Personally I turn most of these sounds off permanently but it is possible to set up a profile, in the sounds settings, which could be used just for recording video; if you find the sounds helpful in your day-to-day.

      I do indeed have a very reliable recipe against the Morra. I would encourage you to either buy the book: www.newinchess.com/king-s-anti-sicilians-for-black or the Chessable online course: www.chessable.com/kings-anti-sicilians-for-black/course/139388/ - I can't give everything away here!

    To see how to attack with Black in a Iso Q Pawn, one only needs to study the games of Spassky in the 1969 Match agin Petrosian for the Championship and to study Kasparov's play with the Tarrash Defense in matches on his way to meeting Karpov in 1984.

    I started reading a book “Chess Structures” written by GM Mauricio Flores Rios. The book mentions that IQP which white lacks e pawn is relatively rare, and more dangerous. I was wondering how it happens except the example game on the book. Here we go! We have the position!

    • @PowerPlayChess
      @PowerPlayChess  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      This pawn structure is not rare - it arises from many different openings, with Black and White.

    I will give it a try - so far my standard opening against the Alapin is g3 - a sort of hyperaccelerated dragon - with good sucess - in my experience even hardcore Alapin players on club level are not familiar with it

    "... This one can be useful..." in hell?!! *lol* --- Well, I liked to play the c3-Sicilian most as White; but it was always a little bit disappointing, to have suddenly a foul-tasting French on the board. ^^

  • @russellbaker4256
    @russellbaker4256 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Make sure your opponent does not normally play the Advance French, as otherwise, as a Sicilian player you will be caught playing the French _deal breaker_

    • @PowerPlayChess

      This issue has surfaced when I've talked about this variation in previous videos. The problem when facing the Alapin is that straight away you have been led away from a traditional open Sicilian position - the pawn structure is different. So why not go in for something that you know is sound and where Black has decent chances to counter-attack? Please check out this recent game from the US Championship where I discuss the issues: th-cam.com/video/o3jrQKOCf1k/w-d-xo.html
