Wow, our UK DC22 never had the brushless motor (and therefore no variable speed). It never had the power head either! Strange how the same model can be completely different overseas!
Its interesting that it has a digital motor that it use for there Cordless vacuums. I wonder why they stop selling these canisters with the digital motor.
They produce canisters with digital motors for the Asian market (Dyson digital V4 in Japan and Taiwan). They’re much smaller than U.K./U.S canisters but have a higher wattage than the U.K. canisters (E.U regulations limit the wattage to 900w). I contacted Dyson’s head office a couple of years ago and asked if they plan to launch the digital motor canisters outside of Asia. Sadly not.
Adrian Olsen The EU should have not limited vacuums to 900 watts until BL suction motors with a 40 percent or higher overall efficiency becomes cost effective to manufacture. Brexit would fix that real quick.
David Perry it was limited to 900w so that manufactures focused on increasing airflow instead of power. People like hoover were making 2500w cylinders with crappy cyclonic systems which clogged after 15mins of use.
That's cool. It's rare to see a "windmill brain" brand make something good compared to their other products. I'd say it's the equivalent when a good brand does an "oopsie" on their products.
I have a question for you. I have a royal model 805 and I really need a brush roll for the machine. But it's almost impossible to find a brush roll with the square end caps. Do you have any suggestions where I might be able to find one? I've checked ebay with no luck.

My mom hated hers. She had it a couple months and went and bought another Kenmore canister.

That's a really good question. My guess would be that it lasted to long .

Does the exhaust vent air to the top or sideways? Seems like sideways at first glance.
