Dude, all it took was for me to watch your guide a single time, paying attention to every word and detail, and I literally cleared a Danger 5 run with artificer in two tries after that. For me I think the thing was you explaining every stat choice you picked along the way. I only have about 25 hours in the game so far, but I was so misinformed about everything and I learned so much from just one of your guides.
Holy moly I just did a close run on this one. I really needed to hear selling planks and going for the other explosive items a bit into the run. That helped a lot. Sweaty run with only 4 armor this time... But just barely managed it. Now I only have One armed left and all are Danger 5 done :) But man do I not wanna go one armed. It's so difficult even with your guidance!
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it! And yeah I wanted to show off the really cool stuff about the class, and if it's worse than the gun build it's really not *much* worse
I just finished danger 5 with this guy and the rocket launchers really carried. I don't think I would have won without them. In the last wave my rocket launcher 4 did 40k damage, while the plank 4 did only 1.6k. My rocket launcher 3 did 25k and the plank only 800.
Took me hours to beat this one but finally did it with two red med guns, two purple bazookas and two red shredders. A bunch of life steal and 50+% crit. Was easy by time I got to last boss. Rocket launchers are key to making this hero win t5
If you believe the wiki, Explosive weapons DO explode when they pierce targets. So if you shoot someone and there is nothing behind, you get the explosion regardless of if the rocket flies off into space after. This also is very much my impression from playing the character with piercing, as late game rocket launcher is a target sparse environment, so you are often shooting lone aliens. Out of curiosity, do you know how the game deals with weapon rarity when you roll a "shared tag" weapon in the shop? What if I have only weapons that do not exist at common, does the shop sub in other weapons, other non weapon items? when it subs a weapon, does this stay in the same category? I assume you can't just sell everything but Excalibur and then constantly get high rarity weapons because the only common weapon with a shared tag is the chopper.
I *thought* that's how it was supposed to work but it didn't look like it was during this run to me - it could very easily have just been a visual glitch or me not seeing it happening though. I think the game *does* stop rendering effects when there's a lot on screen sometimes. I don't know! I'd *guess* it rolls the rarities before deciding what specific item is going to show up, so the weapon tags can't be used to bias the shop towards rarer weapons, but I'm honestly not sure. I think that would be the less complicated way to code it rather than having it run a later check to downgrade a weapon if it rolled something impossible for that wave, but I know very well how weird this kind of codebase can get :P
After doing a bunch of runs in a row with the Artificer, I'd say that Elemental Damage should be the priority damage type, even for Shredder builds. Bigger explosions is the way to win, I think. I'd love to see a Screwdriver run with max Engineering/Elemental Damage and Strange Book. Nothing would have a chance to even move after spawning!
Screwdriver is super fun on artificer, though a little hard to get going since the actual weapons don't do any damage. Definitely a challenge run I'll be trying though!
I agree Shredder seems like a waste on Artificer since you don't want any Elemental damage with it. I was hunting around for a good not-Artificer class to use Shredder with and landed on Loud. The extra enemies on that class certainly provides a target rich environment. I also tried Shredder Ranger but that did not go well.
The rocket launcher is just so much better than the plank. Its difficult to beat with only planks but when yoj realise how much better the rocket launcher is you can beat it easy
see, i thought the most fun/meme way to build this character would've been to go all in on screwdrivers, but yeah, i just tried like 3 runs and failed them all
I'm not 100% sure what the question is - the %damage stat isn't a multiplier to damage you gain, so it doesn't matter what my %damage was - in fact, the lower it is the better buying more and increasing that number becomes!
This character can be weak due low armor, but having nukes and elemental damage is the ultimate full screen explosing fun th-cam.com/video/siKAYEfHUyo/w-d-xo.html
I think your game is glitched, you get too lucky, your plank explodes avery swing so to speak My plank explodes 1/5 shots, hitting multiple enemies does not count it as multiple hits, atleast for me I did this on danger 5 with 1900 dmg flat plasma hammers and 2 mines every second, took 1 sec to kill a boss, then i got one shot at wave 40 (no quit out exploit used) 320 hp, 33 armor 90 dodge, 370 attack speed, one shotted at wave 40, explosions covered the entire map, nothing could hit me, was fun... Dumb game You also always get the weapons you want, i never get the weapon i start with in wave 1 /2 shop, always takes a few rolls but you claim you are more or less guaranteed to get one, is it a different version you play on because weapons are always random Eg, i start with a stick, shop 1 has no stick, i reroll untill all my cash is gone, next shop same again, if i get lucky i can get a second or third stick Even if i only spend materials on only rolls and weapons, i would be very lucky to have a full set by wave 10, let alone upgraded ones and i never have a full upgraded set by wave 20 Also if you take a range build you get ranged on lv up way too easily, if i take a ranged build i no longer get those in level up 2 ranged weapons, 3 ranged damage, 5 luck ; 53 rerolls for a ranged bonus level up 2 ranged weapons, 3 ranged damage, 50 luck, 37 rerolls for a ranged bonus level up 2 ranged weapons, 0 ranged damage, 0 luck, 9 rerolls 2 ranged weapons, 0 ranged damage, 10 luck, 7 rerolls Tested on 2 melee, 2 ranged, 2 engineer classes, averages were near identical So either you cheat willingly and knowingly or you cheat but you do it unknowingly or you're playing a different game XD I found out below 20 and above 5 luck is best for tree cards Having lumberjack shirt increases the odds of getting one ontop of the odds of getting one because you took out the unique card from the loot pool And chance of a tree popping is based on harvest and bonus harvest multipliers 0 harvest but bonus 50% harvest on character equals same % trees compared to 50 harvest 0 harvest 0% bonus = 50% tree in first wave, 15% chance 2 trees 0 harvest, 50% bonus multiplier = 75% 1 tree, 50% 2 trees in wave 1 50 harvest, 50% bonus = 90% 1 tree, 60% 2 trees, 10% 3 trees in wave 1 300 harvest, 50% bonus, 3 tree cards = ~350% chance for a tree every 5 seconds
I think you must be confusing the plank explosions and the rip and tear explosions. I watched parts of the video frame by frame before he picked up rip and tear, and the explosions were definitely not every swing and seemed pretty close to the amount expected by the plank's % chance to explode.

I really hope you will continue to upload more brotato videos after you run out of character guides =)
Don't worry, I definitely intend to
Hey man, here to say that I love the way you explain everything you do and know about all the choices you face throughout the run.
Awesome!
Thanks very much!
This whole series is pure gold, thanks! :)

Nice! This can definitely be a tough one, it's hard to get the defenses. One armed is the hardest character I think for sure, but I believe in you!
Thanks ❤. You even made a build that uses the fun modifications of the character instead of only Shredder!!!
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it! And yeah I wanted to show off the really cool stuff about the class, and if it's worse than the gun build it's really not *much* worse
Thanks for your work, man. Really fun :D
Probably my favorite character!
Definitely one of the most fun!
thank you for all of your guidance!!
Your the reason I started actually playing
Haha, awesome! This game rules so I'm glad :D
I'm about to win with artificer for the first time soon thanks to this!! :D
Eyyyy, nice! Congrats!
I love these class guides... please do the Abyssal Terror characters as well
Wonderfull guide as allways!
Thanks so much!

God I love running around cosplaying Jonny from the CN cartoon Ed, Edd & Eddy and just smack people with "Plank".
Incredible deep cut reference
Great vids, always turn to you once something doesn't click with a character :)
Thanks so much! Glad the guides are helping :D

another good guide
Thanks so much!
Good video. Keep up the good work

I used the shredder for this run. This was one of my easier 5's

Thanks for the info
I'm a big fan of blowing things up. More explosions!
MORE EXPLOSIONS!
When I did this, I managed to roll Ricochet. So, I ended up having bouncing Nuclear and Rocket Launchers.
You should do a GMO run of Artificer + Glutten. Scaling explosion size of the cactus foods would be cool!
Artificer has got to be the most fun GMO character, just so many wild combos
If you double a circle's radius, you quadruple its area. There's no additional factor of pi in the increase, good sir!
WOOPS you're right. Been a long time since I took geometry!
Boom goes the dynamite 🧨
The rocket launcher is just so much better than the plank. Its difficult to beat with only planks but when yoj realise how much better the rocket launcher is you can beat it easy
Love you help me sleep and aswell with my gameplay.❤❤ can you do the cyborg?
Thanks so much! Sure can, I'll add it to the list
Here is a comment! Thanks for the videos
Feeding the algorithm
see, i thought the most fun/meme way to build this character would've been to go all in on screwdrivers, but yeah, i just tried like 3 runs and failed them all
Haha yeah, screwdriver is always just a really hard weapon, and losing the damage from the actual screwdriver attacks makes it very difficult
nice potato
How does he ALWAYS get amazing shop options?
What was the idea behind buying the cyclops worm when you were more than -100% damage?
One of the best item in the game
I'm not 100% sure what the question is - the %damage stat isn't a multiplier to damage you gain, so it doesn't matter what my %damage was - in fact, the lower it is the better buying more and increasing that number becomes!

you make it look easy but . . I can't seem to get artificer win on danger lvl 5 one of the 16 i can't seem to get there.
Have you tried the version with shredders that I mention? Just ignore the elemental damage and build as a pure gun build.
Would love to see Glutton
You got it! I'll add it to the list
✌
Cheers!

Even if i only spend materials on only rolls and weapons, i would be very lucky to have a full set by wave 10, let alone upgraded ones and i never have a full upgraded set by wave 20
Also if you take a range build you get ranged on lv up way too easily, if i take a ranged build i no longer get those in level up
2 ranged weapons, 3 ranged damage, 5 luck ; 53 rerolls for a ranged bonus level up
2 ranged weapons, 3 ranged damage, 50 luck, 37 rerolls for a ranged bonus level up
2 ranged weapons, 0 ranged damage, 0 luck, 9 rerolls
2 ranged weapons, 0 ranged damage, 10 luck, 7 rerolls
Tested on 2 melee, 2 ranged, 2 engineer classes, averages were near identical
So either you cheat willingly and knowingly or you cheat but you do it unknowingly or you're playing a different game XD
I found out below 20 and above 5 luck is best for tree cards
Having lumberjack shirt increases the odds of getting one ontop of the odds of getting one because you took out the unique card from the loot pool
And chance of a tree popping is based on harvest and bonus harvest multipliers
0 harvest but bonus 50% harvest on character equals same % trees compared to 50 harvest
0 harvest 0% bonus = 50% tree in first wave, 15% chance 2 trees
0 harvest, 50% bonus multiplier = 75% 1 tree, 50% 2 trees in wave 1
50 harvest, 50% bonus = 90% 1 tree, 60% 2 trees, 10% 3 trees in wave 1
300 harvest, 50% bonus, 3 tree cards = ~350% chance for a tree every 5 seconds
I think you must be confusing the plank explosions and the rip and tear explosions. I watched parts of the video frame by frame before he picked up rip and tear, and the explosions were definitely not every swing and seemed pretty close to the amount expected by the plank's % chance to explode.

Turn off the explosion animation please! I love your content but this was hard to watch
Thanks for the kind words! Sorry for the flashing lights, I know that's tough on a lot of people
