Those are some pretty cool older knives. Definitely unique pieces and worth keeping both for the historical side and just for fun.

I’d keep that sheeps foot Barlow . Very few of them around. I’ve got an Ulster #12 that a fellow keeps trying to get from me, but it just keeps hanging around. Enjoyed the video Sir

Cool video and knife samples Michael. The one you think may be a Western is a possibility but I don't think so. I've looked through all the early knives listed in the Harvey Platts book and found the following: all similar knives in their catalogs are 5.25" in length or much shorter; of their similar 5.25" knives the ones with the canoe type bolster are slightly swell center and have a clip blade; one pattern (#5106 from the 30's-40's) had 2 blades (the fore runner to the 062 folding hunter) one blade was what I call a California clip and the other blade is what you are calling the Turkish clip but again it had a slight swell center.
Given all of that and looking at the shape your knife is in...long single Turkish clip very unusual, exposed bolster pin, bad condition overall I wonder if it could be a home-altered #5106. That knife became the 062 in the 1950's. If you can spot any kind of tang stamp that is in a semi-circle it might just be an old Western States. That's my best guess ref Westerns. 😀

I've actually seen this knife before. I repaired one for a friend. I can't remember now what brand it is. The thing about catalogs is that all of the company offerings aren't listed. I have a keen Kutter not listed. Companies made 1000s of models. Only a few made it to Catalogs. I think I might make a knife based on this pattern. In bone or stag, of course.

Hi I think the rusted single blade folding hunter could be a Western. I have the two blade version and the second blade is pretty much exactly the Turkish clip you have shown here. The nail nick is in the same place and the shield is the same shape and positioned similarly between the pins. Mine is 5 1/8" long. It is a much later model 1980. The large standard clip blade on mine is the one with the makers name and model number which might explain why there is no visible markings on the Turkish clip blade. Hope this helps. All the best. Thank you for the videos.

Yep. One of my thoughts was that it used to have two blades, and someone made it a single blade. Thanks. 🙏

It's around a 60s knife. After I posted the video I was thinking maybe the main blade broke and someone made it a single blade. Doesn't have the jigging of a Sabra.

I really like the kutmaster Barlows. I’d love to get a sheepsfoot one, as I have the clip point and the spear point version with the black handles. I always thought the thick bolsters on those particular Barlows were really great. I thought that was a western knife as well. The bolsters kinda make me think that. I was thinking maybe German if not USA. The pins on each end make me think it’s European. The old Providence RI cutlers just give me fond memories of my youth in the 80s, when they sold them in gas stations, on cards. Yes I know they’re not made the best, but they were good for what you needed it for , cutting stuff. They’re also great knives to practice restoring and cleaning vintage stuff so you don’t need up the expensive stuff. I also like the 1095 they usually used on the blade steel. I have a camp knife made by imperial, that has a sheep’s foot, and the electrician screwdriver. I had to buy it, just cuz I’ve never seen one like that.
