Giorgi on a technical level, is phenomenal. She's one of the hardest hitters ever in women's tennis, off BOTH wings and that is remarkable considering her size. Her racquet head speed is incredible. She's incredibly fit, moves well and has most shots in her arsenal bar a second serve. While her father is responsible for her supreme strokes, he's also the bane of other areas of her game. She's stagnating at this level for a while now, with a better coach she'd be a GS winner. One other thing is she comes across as cold and bitchy almost, but im fairly certain she's more shy and reserved than anything else. Plus if you knew anything abt her crazy ass dad(classic tennis parent), then you can probably see why she's developed such an attitude. His scams and schemes are famous on the tour. He absolutely dominates her, its no surprise she doesn't express much emotions. I fear he will never let her get another coach except for him and that in turn will stop her from progressing further. I hope she follows the steps of Lucic, Pierce, Bacsinszky etc and finds the strength to break away from her dad.
He dad has done a pretty good job so far there are thousands of WTA players and her ranking is improving again especially reaching the quarterfinal at Wimbledon was a good result after coming back from injury. Has a good opportunity to reach the semifinals and play against Osaka - that would be a good match.
Giorgi's dad looks like an asshole. Giorgi probably didn't have a good time growing up, resulting in such attitude. I don't really blame her for that, hope more people can understand her
This is the first time I saw Giorgi smiles in giving a handshake. Cos I notice that even if she wins, she doesnt smile. Just give handshake, thats it. P.S. She is really beautiful. Look at her photos in Instagram.
And she was even smiling while coming on court, first time ever I saw her smiling too. And her father was not screaming. Japan does good to her and her family!
Great contrast of styles Wozniacki's defence and variation VS Giorgi constantly attacking with fast shots even from difficult returns I like the willingness to close to the net, take balls from the air and finish points it makes for some great highlights - good win for her. Good point at 3:09
It's really nice to hear the sounds of what looks to be a fast indoor surface, which we too seldom see these days. I do wish they'd bring back some indoor carpet courts too. I know the tour has to move on sometimes but I do miss the autumn indoor season. Leipzig, Filderstadt, Zurich, Moscow, Philadelphia...even Chicago, Oakland and Brighton even further back. All were tier 2 (premier) events except Zurich, which was a tier 1. All that's left now is an under attended Moscow event. The tour really misses the indoor carpet season. Beijing and Wuhan are just like the Indian Wells and Miami of the autumn, except with more absences. There's less of a season for players to build momentum. That said, I recognise that a shorter season was needed. Couldn't they make Beijing and Wuhan indoors carpet? With all the air pollution in Chinese cities it's probably not a bad idea.
Also caught that comment and immediately remembered several previous big wins - Sharapova, Azarenka, even Wozniacki - hard to say this is "biggest." Fun fact from Wiki: "Giorgi has won more matches against top-10 players than she has lost."
@@CarlMattick Yes I remember the Sharapova match was when I first noticed her as well. AusOpen I believe. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Not sure of round or year. She certainly has power and aggression. Definitely business like as well. Consistency doesn't seem to be there, but I'm not sure of her history with injuries etc.
@@CarlMattick exactly, i understand that it can be counted as her biggest Win by her opponents ranking, but... I don't know, still beating Sharapova in her good was something bigger i think, especially in Indian Wells
They meant it’s the biggest win of her career ranking-wise because Wozniacki is ranked World #2. But yeah, in terms of quality of the opponent, probably the ones against Sharapova or Azarenka are more impressive wins.
The point that starts at 6:43 is amazing, Cami has a good banana shot !!! Sometimes I watch her play and I really believe she should be a top 10 or big tournament winner.
A clear contrast between the 2. Past several months, consistency in Giorgi led her back to her career high, while miss consistency recently is characterised by her lackluster performance. Fatigue it should be. She's in top spots for some while through tough competition. Needs some refreshment. Congrats Camila!!
Always love watching Giorgi, didn't know all that about her Dad. Have seen her twice at Eastbourne, and the first time her father was very animated from the stands but didn't see him this year. I have a feeling Naomi Broady also coached by her father and could do much better with a different coach.
Lol Pushniacki loses again... Definitely not a shock but the WTA commentators seem to be very surprised... Congratulations Giorgi, don't let others look down on you ! ❤
"Definitely not a shock" - I like this one, it shows how a knowledgeable tennis fan should not be surprised by any of her results (good or bad). I think this applies more or less to women's tennis in general.

Still wondering why wozniacki is No 2 ..... also she has approximately 5.500 points .. kerber has 5.200-5.300 , so kerber is gonna be No. 2 very soon , about Halep ... she has a huge advantage(8000 points)
Wozniacki also has the WTA Finals win from last year to defend, whereas Kerber didn't even make it to the Finals. Halep will most probably be the year-end No. 1 again, followed by Kerber at No. 2 and I really hope Osaka can finish in top 3.
@Fotball Winner Halep has a lot of points to defend next year, but also has a major advantage in the ranking....over 2500 points more than Wozniaki in the live ranking...but if she'll have a pretty good run the following tournaments and WTA Finals she'll remain number 1 even in 2019 for a while. Her main followers in rankings also have a lot to defend. Wozniaki has WTA Finals from 2017 to defend and Australian Open, Kerber has Semifinal of AO to defend, Garcia did pretty good in Asia last year, so she has a lot of points to defend. I highly doubt that Garcia will become number one even if she'll win AO in 2019 (which i find very hard to believe).
sNazzer For example in 2017 halep lost the final at RG but this year she won it I really hope She will win AO next year cuz she played then a lot ( besides that she had an injury) with davis , kerber , and i still do think wozniacki was lucky
Bravo Giorgi elle était simplement meilleure aujourd'hui. Franchement je ne suis pas surpris du tout, Wozniacki a du mal à gagner un match depuis quelques mois.
Her long held # 2 spot could be jeopardized .... at the same time, her loss in Tokyo may well contribute to Halep's cozy spot extended. Nearly 2,500 pts of difference.
dont know how Giorgi is not higher ranked, she have the game to be at least in the top 15 even top 10 but i think she lacks mentally and her father not help her but in this match she was on fire in general. Shortly after she fired her 2017 hitting partner Bajin, Caroline started reverting to her previous passive defensive playing style. She will need to hire a new head coach to take over for her dad, who is not giving her the right advice and coaching.
It's not that she reverted. She just lost her serve and has never had a forehand with natural racquet her speed like Camila does, or others with great racquet head speed.
Camila mishit a forehand by accident, Wozniacki wasn't sure whether the ball was going to land in or not and because it was a mishit she couldn't predict the spin or the bounce properly, she was very tentative and misjudged her backhand swing as a result.
Giorgi is always playing aggressive n well. But Wozniacki is still my favourite tennis player. She is nice to all, but only voice out opinions honestly. She always come out with surprising shoots.
