I've always liked the Ingenium Wellworths, especially the round bowls. The flushes are smooth, neat, and powerful. One of the best low-flow toilets ever!
I lucked out and got a 2004 Wellworth Ingenium for free off Craigslist in San Diego recently. Excellent condition with original functioning tank parts. I installed it in my girlfriend’s house. Just needed a new supply line, floor bolts, and wax ring. Great toilet with a nice strong flush
The fact that the ingenium performs better despite using less than half the amount of water just shows how good the ingenium flush is and I think they should have kept it instead of replacing it with the class 5
@@OCC_Plumbing_and_Restorations 1.6 gallons isn’t a ton of water, imo it’s the minimum for an acceptable toilet, having that trapway with the ingenium bowl rince would make a pretty good 1.6g toilet
I just found a Waterguard yesterday and the thing that surprises me about it, is that for something called a "waterguard", it still takes a full five gallon bucket to fill the tank, AFTER filling the bowl.
@@OCC_Plumbing_and_Restorations I think the trick now is to find a Plebe. That seems to be the only logical choice as its kind of ridiculous how this fails a bag reliably, mine does too. Ingenium was the obvious winner even before the tests, it was Kohler’s best toilet, yet it’s very sad that they got discontinued because Kohler went straight back to not great after the Ingeniums
I like the ingenium version of the kohler wellworth. I have one in my collection it works great. I have to say the 1985-1996 wellworth water guard was a far superior design to the 1976-1984 wellworth water guard
btw idk whats wrong with the tan wellworth becasue my round one litterly can take 2 grocery bags or 1 grocery bad and a washcloth so maybe its that darn slow flush
The 1985-1996 water guards aren’t overrated I have four that perform great and all of the 1985-1996 ones I have encountered were great. But if you’re talking about the 1976-1984 wellworth water guards then yes I would have to agree they’re overrated
The Waterguard has a small trapway... A 60s or 70s Wellworth is far better. Worst vintage toilet? Maybe a Kohler Trylon or a Case forward trap toilet. The older Wellworths (40s-50s) with no siphon jet are also extremely weak. The models are great, but they are really bad performers.
@@OCC_Plumbing_and_Restorations don't get me wrong the new wellworth is good too but the bowl wash on the new closets really isn't very good as the flush cycles are so quick with the new 3 inch flap I remember back around 1978 or 79 that front trap water closets were banned because the water in the bowl wasn't enough according to the plumbing code then but yet today the bowl wash on today's closets isn't any better
I don't hate these ingenium toilets, but it is better than the waterguard toilet. The toilet on the right is horrible so it does not perform well. I have notice that there is a lot of hate towards these ingenium toilets. I believe the toilet on the left that I love is amazing. Boy, do I like to make one.
My Grandmother has a round Wellworth Ingenium on a tank with a pull handle. The Waterguard tank should be replaced with an older Wellworth tank. I am getting a 1971 Wellworth soon.
I think its a hit or miss with the Waterguards, poor CC likely. My grandma has one in her main bath and Ive never plugged it, even loading it down with a lot of TP, it doesnt struggle, yet I see some on here like yours that arent good. My house has Ingeniums in both bathrooms and theyre okay but definitely plug up a lot easier than my grams WG.
I would take a 3.5 Gal+ Kingston Waterguard flushometer toilet any day over that rubbish performing Tank Top (CC) Waterguard (which failed most tests) obviously a poorly designed model - the Ingenium is a real decent toilet which passed all the tests (albeit a slight hesitation on one or two)! So yes a modern toilet wins over an vintage model in this instance!
