There was a time in high school where i seriously contemplated if i could get away with building a dugout in the metroparks because they foreclosed on the house. Thankfully a neighbor took me in.
Bro Not only are u chill but Truly a comedian lots of laughter of All videos I watched ur the ONLY one that acknowledges a mistake and show real time wrongs that happens while bushcrafting or camping I truly enjoy ur videos please keep em coming
Hey my friend! I feel like showing the mistakes is an important part of the videos so not only I can learn from them but others can also! Glad you enjoyed the video, I really appreciate the comment! Thanks for watching, plenty more to come!
Dude, don't buy copy's of military kit its normally proper toilet as you have found out with that dog toffee shovel, they are copied but garbage materials are used. Get an ex army issue one for somewhere like militarymart for a tenner and you wont have the same problems. I have had mine since the 1980's and its still going strong. A build tip for you, once you have set out where you going to dig, set the tarp across the top rolled up and pegged out at the top end. Get on with the dig, and as you dig down and back install more pegs tight cordage and sticks over the trench " dug out" and bring the tarp down with you, spoil can then go straight on top of the tarp as you move down, saving time and a lot " slippery effort" my friend, also if you had made your entrance slightly A frame-ish access would have been easier . Go with the Dutch Bivi mate, you cant go wrong. Or do what I have done to my British army gortex bivi bag and that gets some mesh and a zipper and stich it in, don't take long, and making your own kit saves pounds and can be very rewarding for the bush crafter. Another excellent video mate really do like the work and the shear effort you put in, keep it coming , Big thumbs up,
I agree that REAL govt issue military kit is far superior to "imported" gear. I'm in the States and unfortunately there's hardly any "walk-in" military surplus stores that carry REAL military kit/gear. I walked into one several years ago and the "surplus" was brand new "imported" stuff. From what I have seen on videos like this, there are actually several real surplus stores in England. We have a few Internet sales/mail order places that DO sell the REAL thing. The prices are becoming very close to that of boutique gear. Be that as it may, our guy here definitely earned a new REAL E-tool. I haven't seen British E-tools. Just because I'm American doesn't mean I think everything that's American is the best. I'm seriously wanting a British Crusader canteen cup cook set. IMO it's far and away better than what we have. I'm going to have to order it directly from the U.K. and I don't mind. I'd love to have one of those Dutch bivy's and a Dutch one-man tent. Those are pretty much gone. Regards
Mate...you deserve a medal for this one ... Well done ! I haven't seen many other videos where someone has put that much work into their camp. And I could never sleep in that hole, and I'm not claustrophobic ....nope 😱😳😂 .
The Bushcraft Victoria Cross ! ! ! I could sleep in this one, but not the dig he did several weeks ago... Damn if I've seen anyone work as hard. He keeps it real. I was wondering if his E tool was "imported". It held up surprisingly well though !
@@baronedipiemonte3990 lol, " the bushcraft Victoria cross " he certainly earned it! All I could think when he was digging that hole is ,he's gonna hurt tomorrow! And agreed that the last hole was even worse lpl
@@ruthietube He's in the UK so we'll confer a UK "medal". In the U.S. he'd get the "Bushcraft Distinguished Service Cross". I'm quite sure he was feeling it the next day... Would have taken me a few days, and a lot more coffee !
Another Excellent Production. The only bivy's with mosquito netting I know about are "hooped". The Catoma, and the US Marine Corp single man pop up bivy. It's not a complete tent, just pop up mosquito netting and floor. There's also the "preform" mosquito netting that you suspend over your sleep system - "The Friendly Swede". You def earned a new GOOD E TOOL !
if you have access to willow or similar at the build site, it may be worth trying to weave some loosely to lay over the top of a few more structural support branches to give a good solid structure to support the tarp and anything on top, better insulate the roof with a bit more soil, plus the tarp will be flatter
excellent work. Just a few days ago I saw the movie "the Road" and it got me thinking about safe and hidden havens. I think the shelter you present today would fit those qualities!
Hey Angel! I’ve not seen the movie but it sounds like something I should check out! Thanks for your comment my friend, glad you enjoyed, much appreciated 👍
that was quite the build,,nice chimney...new shovel on your bucket list...😎 where i live, Connecticut,USA...a shovel would not work...you would need a sledge hammer and a pick axe, due to all the large stones, rocks and ledge in our area..that is why our State has so many stone walls...😁...great video, thanks
I'm always amazed by your videos! One thing has to be said: you don't go easy on yourself with what you do in your videos! I don't know of any youtuber who works so hard and plays the pioneer that even a spade dies! But it wasn't original british army, was it? Best regards from the Black Forest, Germany!
I'm not going to lie if I built a hide like this even if I had to take the tarp and partially dismantle it I would have left it for a return trip to use again and possibly approve upon later. May I also suggest for the entrance as you had a slightly narrow entryway to dig down lower than you are leveled off platform and climb and then slightly upward Direction into the Hide that way you get a larger entrance and it's an added preventative of weather coming in.
WOW mate ! So much effort.. I reckon if I'd done that I would of fell a sleep outside cos of being too tired to crawl in ! Bivi's.. Dutch army hooped all the way but I've also got a much lighter Vaude hooped with a small bug net.. found it second hand.. not a bad shade of green either. Loving your work Man.
I love your videos, but just watching the video and my back is killing me! If I did all that friggin digging I'd be💀! About 800mg ibuprofen and 6 Percocet I'd maybe be able to get back in the game! You sir, are a dang ol' warrior🪖!
no entiendo por que tenes tan pocas visitas, literal tu contenido es de muy buena calidad de video y audio, aparte de que el refugio que hiciste esta genial
Busy old camp that bud . Cant make my mind up if that's be cosy or claustrophobic in there . Interesting though. Intrigued as to your multi day adventure . Regarding the bivvy with mesh I have the highlander hawk but only used under a tarp ( I think I remember you testing that anyway 🤔) . British army lightweight and snugpak jungle are sleeping bags with bug mesh . Anyway take care bud 👍
Only one suggestion, redundancy. Two is one, one is none. I try to carry a back up for my major tools if possible for what happened to your shovel. Just found you, subscribed.
You take more breaks than the guys who built my pole barn... YOU GUYS JUST WANT TO SHOW EVERYBODY THAT YOU KNOW HOW TO BUILD A FIRE... You didn't hardly get the grass moved and you're already taking a coffee break

Fair play, I'd have stopped before I'd started 😂

always either barely a step above a hole or a full blown hobbit hole, but what most people want is something comfy but easy to build
Excellent video. You killed it once again.

Thanks harpandblooz! I appreciate the comment 👍
Glad to see there are many people on youtube who also abuse the shit out of their trecnh tool. They always seem to be covered in mud just like mine.
👍👍The Dutch army shovels are solid👍👍✌🤞👌🙏😊
Hahaaaaahaaa absolutely brilliant

I've been very interested in doing something similar in multiple spots so I can roam between them. Wish you had better (lighted) footage inside!
Cracking video mate and a great idea for a stealth shelter atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Why not try the chec issue sleeping bag with built in bug net and your normal bivi I’ve used one for a couple of years and no problems
I love your videos, but just watching the video and my back is killing me! If I did all that friggin digging I'd be💀! About 800mg ibuprofen and 6 Percocet I'd maybe be able to get back in the game! You sir, are a dang ol' warrior🪖!
And perhaps a couple of doob breaks to help!
Good ol' Grunt Candy. I hear you on the percocet

Bro... ive done this before and let me just say i know you were tired before you were done 💯
no entiendo por que tenes tan pocas visitas, literal tu contenido es de muy buena calidad de video y audio, aparte de que el refugio que hiciste esta genial
Bro... you need an ames shovel. Thats the legit company that started in Vietnam and i can tell you it is built like a tank

I think I had that exact same tactical shovel once upon a time. 3/10 would not recommend.
Dude made a McRib in the woods then filled in the hole...
o prosze anglicy też mają denaturat 😂
First night on survival mode in minecraft
An Army Surplus entrenching tool would be a lot more durable than some crappy scam-advert gimmick
You take more breaks than the guys who built my pole barn...
