Senior Pipe Major was Peter Toole who had been the Senior Pipe Major for quite a few years running when I went to the 2000 Edinburgh Tattoo. That was his last tattoo in that role

Errr, Pete Toole was never a piper let alone a pipe major, he was senior drum major. He was the senior drum major of ASBM&HD after he left the Bn, that's why he was top DM at the tattoo in later years.
