First question: at about the 7:00 minute mark, how did you get that video of me dancing?
Great content once again, my friend. It is crazy how the invasive nature of data mining is so inherently distasteful to us, and yet, at the same time, so passively accepted. It reminds me of something else you mentioned recently, quoting Spurgeon: lukewarm water coincides with our human nature. We like it because it is comfortable. Though we dislike surveillance capitalism and the violation of our privacy, we are also okay with it because of the convenience it gives to us. Targeted ads are annoying and creepy, but they are useful and fun to us, too.
Like you say, if we're not constantly checking to see if our thoughts are actually our own, we have no idea whose thoughts are actually driving our behaviours. What a terrifying thought.

Something that came to mind for me was how this level of information would ideally be gleaned in the context of a safe attachment with someone to the end of increasing intimacy, but this is exclusively extraction we’re talking about, and it is exclusively unsafe and one-sided. A perfect example of perversion of a beautiful design. And yet I, like Linda said, am personally fine with it in so many areas of my life- not when I’m confronted directly with the reality of it, but by nature of my actions and the fact that I continue to utilize technology and platforms that I know are mining this from me.

This video is such an encouragement to me, especially in stressing the importance of being an active observer and participant in daily life. As we give over our autonomy and will, we become more passive, and I’ve found so much more meaning in thinking well and actually trying to see reality clearly.
Thanks as always for your work and dedication!
