Slow-building my dark units and VCs, staying strong and not pulling for Beach Mama, will probably end up skipping Dragon Quest… yes, I will be ready. Ideally they’ll give us Tifa for free (best girl, missed her in the first run) and hopefully I’ll also be able to pick up Cloud. But Sephiroth is the main goal.
In JP Tifa was free again on the rerun, so I fully expect to see that return here as well, if you ever plan to play fire I highly recommend grabbing Psaros VC!
I actually really like his VC. I think we're at a point where the absolute best modifiers are already available, but many teams are still running gen1 cards in slot 2 because there's some overlap. Of course you can stack some of the stat gains a little but I think some reaction block rate and crit evasion would be better than stacking just slightly more of the same stat. Additionally sometimes VCs conflict where you could get one stat to double but then another stat or two wont do anything because you have them as a primary buff on another card. A little goes a long way on these, I think its really solid for long term even if they're not game changing day 1. That this card has really rare bonuses in all 3 party buffs means its very unlikely to conflict with your main VCs. I also disagree on you not liking the direction the game is taking with the new VCs. I see A LOT of people finding the game stale because they already have fairly good teams established in all elements. New units aren't exciting because they don't dramtically buff the element, and I think the potential for rainbow comps could mean people start getting excited over actual units instead of just pulling whatever units are in their main element and ignoring everything else b/c that element is 'good enough'. Probably some of the disparity stems from you going crazy on guild raids and such, so every minor buff to any element means a lot. But I think to most people minor improvements to elements that aren't their main are really boring with the current state of the game.
I think you misunderstand the points I'm making there - I didn't say I didn't like his card, I just said I wouldn't consider it as a primary slot card and that it's base stats are underwhelming, I would never choose those party effects it brings over AGI, Area Resist and Unit Resist. As a secondary slot vision card I like it. You also misunderstand my point regarding the Job VC's in general, I didn't say I don't like the direction, in fact I love the direction, the point I made there is that the meta isnt shifting FAST enough over to the Job Meta, and the game even 6 months later after Job cards were first introduced is still almost entirely based around Mono element, or maybe dual element here and there - I 100% agree mono element is beyond stale at this point, which is precisely why I was saying that. So in fact we very much agree on that point.
100% a must pull for dark. Seph brings agility lowering, multiple hits for chaining (that aren't a magic type), 100% hits, courage/re-raise removal. All of these are things dark struggles with do to currently having lack-luster options for.
Yep, as far as I know it should, that's why I mentioned reaction block potentially becoming more valuable if more units get this kind of ability moving forward
Ive been saving for awhile. I can pity any 3 units. I want the 2 water units and Seph. I hope i dont have to pity all of them because I want a few VC's as well. No matter what comes for xmas i probably wont pull because i dont want them being left behind for months and months with no 140 upgrade like they did b4.
A lot of people in JP have paired RSterne with Seph for the large AoE combo, joker and leela also both have large diamond aoes so any of them would work tbh, Joker giving protect to Seph just makes him even tankier too
I've spent my visiore savings to get sephiroth to level 140 and Cloud and Tifa full limit break.. An F2P like me really struggled but couldn't be happier to have this collection. I skipped Barret, Aerith, and Yuffie though.. :(
Congrats on finishing those units! Hopefully you didn't overspend too much on shards for those guys - we still have another several weeks to farm Chocobo Expeditions! Remember to take full advantage of those chocobo free shards as F2P, good way to save visiore!
@@JB79 i overspent for sephiroth's shards, but for Cloud and Tifa mostly I farm with Chocobo expeditions. Got lucky with pulling Cloud 3 times and Tifa 1 time on the 9-step pull.
I have a question: In the part of the video where you discussed your "mock build", --if I don't have any of those VC and or summon, what are some alternatives I can equip on him? I feel like I'm more limited to what I can equip since I wasn't lucky acquiring other VC/summons.....i wanna make sure I can at least properly build him decently.
The build I showcase in the video is an accuracy build, that is more of an anti-yuffie/anti fire evade choice. In most circumstances you would focus your build on bulk and damage. Some key VC's I think would be building blocks for a Dark team would be the Black Rose AGI card, something with Area resistance like Garvals VC or Winter Holiday Party, and then something with single target/unit resistance - anima as I used in the video, but if you don't have it, the Odin VC can fill in, although not nearly as good.
It's simply not true, he can achieve one of the highest ATK totals in the game due to his 60% passive, and he has very high def and slash resist penetration available due to anima and maidens VCs. This is on top of having high modifiers and a DEF break.
@@JB79 not sure if he’ll get a buff in global version or not. But the truth is his damage on JP side against non-light teams are meh. Not sure where is the problem since he’s expected to do better. I think he’s the kind of character that deal medium damage but very consistent due to his high penetration.
Nope, but we do expect a non FF related collab coming soon after FF7R, but it hasn't been announced yet, we should know soon though, some people think it might be Ogre Battle, they have also teased an Anime collab which would probably be Full Metal Alchemist. We should also be getting a Dragon Quest collab here in Global soon as well.
I’ve managed to pick up all the dark pieces except R!Sterne, BRH VC, Duane+VC, and P5+VC. Those are the only things I’m missing and I got everything else. Hope that’s enough to join the dark meta by the time Seph arrives.
And Ruin Sterne too - not sure if anyone agrees, but he has turned out to be one of the most well upgraded old unit following his MA2 and subjob upgrade - to a point that he’s actually survived better than his dark counterparts like Joker and Leela (and even more destructive!)
Go to the 'future considerations' portion of the video, during that I put up a timeline - I do this for all the units I review from JP. They're roughly 4 months ahead of us FYI.
Of course, every unit has a way to get to them. Easier said than done though, even for a magic team, they're not going to one shot him, whereas he can potentially very easily one shot them with his LB (other than Skahal/Perene OP undispellable courage)
They did a job of making him OP with still avenues to take him down. So essentially, make him feel powerful so those that want him feel justified in him, but not outrage the community as they'll still be teams that beat him. I'm planning on 140'ng for sure, but I'm holding out on seeing what UR Lynx element is... and the new wind unit looks interesting too. So I'm not sure which unit I'm going to really dig into with the reincarnation system.
I’d say they’ve managed that kind of balance all along, for a mobile game I’m very happy with the overall character balance. Lynx definitely is the wild card! She’s a favorite of a lot of people I hope she has a little more immediate impact than Sylvie!

I've gathered some very solid information here. Quick question tho. For the mock build I saw that The Other Me was used as a sub VC for H. Lucia. Is there any particular reason why we wouldn't put it on D. Fina instead for the limited bestow effect?
The main reason is this is an all out accuracy build, and Fina gains additional luck from wearing that card which will translate to roughly 4-5 additional accuracy on her. The build target here is a triple evade team, so I'm a little less concerned about things like SPR penetration or additional magic, and acc is the main focus since she has no guaranteed hit.
@@JB79 Thank you for clearing that up for me. I'm still fairly new to the game and one thing about VCs that I keep forgetting is that aside from passive effects, they also have stats tied to them. Maidens of the Rose on Dark Fina makes a lot more sense now that I took another look at what stats it gives. Awesome work as always. 🙌🏻

I think I mention it isnt 100% ideal to slot it on her there, but I didn't have another great spot to put it, and she did gain some benefit so I thought it worked best. I think for an accuracy build for Dark, typically 2 physical units and 1 magical unit probably work best for spreading out the VC's that are needed.

They did originally say she would be a Winter unit, but I think they changed their minds later when they realized the mindspheres would be too cheap for players who have many Winter units already. I really hope she's not trash! Lynx is a favorite of mine!

While I’m really looking fwd to him, but I wished that his flash counter cut covers a bit more range and doesn’t limit to only physical damage. The devs kinda downplays a potentially game breaking skill 🥲
Agreed, Selection Quests are one of the best things they've done for WoTV for nice level design and good rewards. I hope that they come out with something like this for UR units as well.
I still enjoy it for what it is. The real silver lining though is that there is a renaissance of Tactical JRPGs happening, with many older games getting remastered/released and new games coming as well like Diofield Chronicle and Triangle Strategy which are quite good in their own right.

All-in! I've been preparing Dark pieces to go with him as well. Subjobs - I really thought he would be somewhat similar to Ibara actually; more physical of course. Soldier would have been for Cloud but that would make him look like Schuzelt 😅 Bladesoul perhaps (biased pick) Also, what is it in this game that winged ones (Gilg) get minimum jump 😅
Who have you been preparing? I've seen a lot of RSterne + DFina paired with him, but honestly I think most of the dark pieces will well with him - BLeela, HLucia and Joker will do just as well.

Dunno why but as you said "fight between Sephiroth and Aerith" I thought, hmmmmmm isnt Aerith between him and the ground? Maybe he was just trying to attack the planet and she got in the way, dont wanna victim blame or anything.
Wished they change him like Skahal with the guts, but not to that level, just cuz when he is defeated he kneels down it would have been cool if after he kneels he takes the turn revives then transforms with one wing and then floats like gilgamesh with new set of skills, i wont care if he makes the game unbalanced i just want Sephiroth to be a boss that he is. Edit: i love Seph but if we talking Meta im more scared of Skahal and Resnick combo that Seph tbh for now in JP that is.
@@JB79 I have a feeling they never intended these conditional guts to be irremovable, a system update would be nice. Could address it as a buff to guts removal abilities instead of a nerf to the guts users, to minimise pitchforks.

There is an upcoming WoTV Livestream with Justin and Hiroki in 2 days on the official WOTV youtube channel. It is expected they will announce Sephiroth and Yuffie on that stream with them coming into the game next week. That is how it was in JP as well, FF7R rerun first, then the intergrade collaberation.
I'm just shy of 90k vis, about which 8k is paid. I'm on the fence :/ I didn't realize Seph was coming with reincarnation. I was all about pulling for Seph, Yuffie, and hoping for leftovers for either Amnelis or Winged Sterne, but now I don't know lol.
There's still the possibility they make reincarnation a little better for Global, they're already looking at it on the JP side, I won't hold my breath we get any quality of life update that early though. That said, we still have 6-7 weeks until seph, so plenty of time to save up another 30k-40k or so if you're diligent.
Not a dark main, but I'm gonna pull for him because my fangirl instinct says so (and because I'm a big fan of Morikawa's work). With a little bit of luck, I can get both him and Yuffie to complete the whole squad!
My favorite part of WoTV, is that all the original units are still good in their own ways/niches - unlike FFBE where old rerun units are generally just collectors items. I wish you luck, may you pulls be plentiful, but few!
I have a timeline showing the release for all the characters I preview, you can see it in the Future Considerations chapter of the videos, along with all other units releasing in or around them that were known at the time. He's coming at the third Anniversary, approximately 6-7 weeks.

Especially the christmas units, they have had a really bad track record with those.

Agreed, Selection Quests are one of the best things they've done for WoTV for nice level design and good rewards. I hope that they come out with something like this for UR units as well.
@@JB79 It makes me sad that this could have just been a dope new tactics premium game instead of a gacha, I would have gladly paid a premium for that
I still enjoy it for what it is. The real silver lining though is that there is a renaissance of Tactical JRPGs happening, with many older games getting remastered/released and new games coming as well like Diofield Chronicle and Triangle Strategy which are quite good in their own right.
@@DTreatz Because this game is meant to be a gacha, and not another FF Tactics because obviously one already exists so there's no point in making this into another one from business point of view.

Subjobs - I really thought he would be somewhat similar to Ibara actually; more physical of course. Soldier would have been for Cloud but that would make him look like Schuzelt 😅 Bladesoul perhaps (biased pick)

Who have you been preparing? I've seen a lot of RSterne + DFina paired with him, but honestly I think most of the dark pieces will well with him - BLeela, HLucia and Joker will do just as well.
@@JB79 I really wanted but couldn't get Joker; got the VC max tho. Recently, I maxed H.Lu'cia and bought paid to get Anima. I will pick up D. Leela or D. Fina next although I think I will be fine with Celes 😁

Dunno why but as you said "fight between Sephiroth and Aerith" I thought, hmmmmmm isnt Aerith between him and the ground? Maybe he was just trying to attack the planet and she got in the way, dont wanna victim blame or anything.

Wished they change him like Skahal with the guts, but not to that level, just cuz when he is defeated he kneels down it would have been cool if after he kneels he takes the turn revives then transforms with one wing and then floats like gilgamesh with new set of skills, i wont care if he makes the game unbalanced i just want Sephiroth to be a boss that he is.
Edit: i love Seph but if we talking Meta im more scared of Skahal and Resnick combo that Seph tbh for now in JP that is.
Hopefully Gumi does something to address Skahal, he really shouldn’t be anywhere near as effective as he is in JP. I have a feeling they will.
@@JB79 I have a feeling they never intended these conditional guts to be irremovable, a system update would be nice. Could address it as a buff to guts removal abilities instead of a nerf to the guts users, to minimise pitchforks.
@@JohnDoe_69 100% agree, at this point though it seems like they've decided to just treat it like a guts power creep considering they're handing it out to new 100 cost units like Amnelis, so seems like it's here to stay and they'll just sell a new version of guts removal in the future - lol.

It's FF7R event already (global version). Any chance that will be banner with Sephiroth? Now only Cloud and his team.
There is an upcoming WoTV Livestream with Justin and Hiroki in 2 days on the official WOTV youtube channel. It is expected they will announce Sephiroth and Yuffie on that stream with them coming into the game next week. That is how it was in JP as well, FF7R rerun first, then the intergrade collaberation.

I'm just shy of 90k vis, about which 8k is paid. I'm on the fence :/ I didn't realize Seph was coming with reincarnation. I was all about pulling for Seph, Yuffie, and hoping for leftovers for either Amnelis or Winged Sterne, but now I don't know lol.
There's still the possibility they make reincarnation a little better for Global, they're already looking at it on the JP side, I won't hold my breath we get any quality of life update that early though. That said, we still have 6-7 weeks until seph, so plenty of time to save up another 30k-40k or so if you're diligent.
Not a dark main, but I'm gonna pull for him because my fangirl instinct says so (and because I'm a big fan of Morikawa's work).
With a little bit of luck, I can get both him and Yuffie to complete the whole squad!
My favorite part of WoTV, is that all the original units are still good in their own ways/niches - unlike FFBE where old rerun units are generally just collectors items. I wish you luck, may you pulls be plentiful, but few!
When is global release?
I have a timeline showing the release for all the characters I preview, you can see it in the Future Considerations chapter of the videos, along with all other units releasing in or around them that were known at the time. He's coming at the third Anniversary, approximately 6-7 weeks.

FF15 is the only Final Fantasy I haven't played - I really need to get around to it!
