  • On the way back from a trip to the Dolomites, we stopped by Casa d'Arte Futurista Depero in the town of Rovereto.
    www.mart.tn.it...
This is a museum created by the prominent Futurist artist Fortunato Depero himself, using his former home before he passed away.
In 2009, it was restored by the architect Renato Rizzi to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Futurism.

Fortunato Depero was a versatile Italian artist who thrived in the 20th century, notably significant in Futurism. Born in 1892, he passed away in 1960. Depero was renowned for his contributions in visual arts, advertising graphics, industrial design, and stage set design. He is particularly known for his book "Depero Futurista" (the actual book can be seen in the video), which is like a manifesto of Futurism composed of innovative and vibrant graphics.
Depero is regarded as one of the pioneers of modern Italian design, making significant contributions to the development of art and design in the 20th century.
The famous Campari, both nationally and internationally, has a connection.
The Campari Soda bottle, seen towards the end of the video, was designed by him in 1932 and is still in use today.
There's significance in why it took on such a shape and texture.
He was a brilliant talent, experimenting with new forms of bookbinding, visual communication, typography, and more.
Despite being around a century old, his works still don't feel outdated to me; they're incredibly charming, including his use of color.
He spent some time living in New York and even designed several covers for widely circulated magazines like Vanity Fair and Vogue.
    [About Futurism]
Futurism was an art movement that emerged in Italy in the early 20th century, celebrating the machine age, industrialization, speed, and technological advancements, while rejecting traditional aesthetic sensibilities and cultural concepts. Futurist works often pursued dynamic and powerful expressions, urban landscapes, and the beauty of machinery, adopting innovative forms and techniques. The movement sought to create new artistic forms through a forward-thinking and avant-garde approach.
Futurism, and the magnificent Italian artist who led it, Depero. Visit this museum and experience who he was. It's a highly recommended place for those who appreciate Italian design and more.
His works are also preserved at the nearby Museo d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto.
