Not gonna lie, this was probably my first video game ever. I remember how difficult it was playing it as a child, pretty sure ZIC3 beat the entire game in the time it took me to beat a single enemy!
this game was good as hell actually. i had it on both playstation and PC. i actually could beat the whole thing in a single morning and did so frequently, i remember about halfway through my dad would always serve me pancakes to eat. what a cool game to see get a speed run at GDQ
OH YEAH I had this game for PlayStation in the 90s and I did try and 100% it back then. Pretty sure Atta Flight was the only level I couldn't do it on.
Oh man I have so many memories of playing this game with my mom when I was 4 years old. I think at some point I actually beat level 4, but got stuck on level 5. Then when I was 10 or 11 I came back to the game, and I definitely remember getting to level 8, but I don't know if I ever got further than that. I might have, but I also might not have.
Awesome run and funny commentary bro. I remember playing this as a kid and I got destroyed. Had no idea there was a speedrunning community for it, very cool. Thanks for bringing my childhood back
Think I've still got this game tucked away in a shoebox somewhere. I remember I eventually stopped playing it as a kid because I couldn't get past the city level and decided it wasn't worth wasting my time anymore.
flik jump is 22 mm jump+mushroom bounce is 42 mm (1 inch bounce from 2/3 inch tall mushroom) Flik is 19mm tall to top of head and bend in antenna is another 1/8 inch of antenna scape
I had the N64 version of this as a 12-year-old, and I played it a lot. Of course, back then we didn't actually own a Controller Pak so any time we wanted to play it we'd either have to leave the N64 on for a while or just start from scratch. It was pretty satisfying when I beat Hopper for the first time. I think my little brother eventually did a marathon 100% run in one sitting and it took him a while to do it. Great game and the soundtrack absolutely slaps!
As a kid, I actually made it to the Molt fight but couldn't beat him because they kept giving me useless berries and I didn't know what level I needed to take him out. This game is hard for no reason.
Dang so that's how you beat the last level. I remember 100%ing everything except the last level, which I couldn't even beat. I can't quite remember but I guess I was like your friend and just didn't realize I needed to keep hitting him.
Gods, I got this game for the N64 and had no save pack. So everytime I wanted to play, I had to start from the beginning. I mostly made it to the dandilion fly level and failed it, farthest I made was up to City Entrance
I know I played a ton of this game as a kid but I cannot remember how far I actually got. Back as a little kid I didnt really care or know for progression so I probably just played the first level or 2 over and over.
The only familiarity I have with this game is that it was one of the games you could play in the waiting room at my dentist's office as a kid. It's honestly a lot more ambitious seeming than I expected, huh. (OH YEAH)
AGDQ 2024 is live right now! Tune in to watch at www.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick

also: OH YEAH
Unironically one of the best movie tie-in games out there. Its a perfectly functional action platformer with some good puzzle and level design.
Quite educational too. Absolutely loved it as a kid, heck I still have it to this day
OUR SUSTENANCE COMES FROM THE GRAIN
OH YEAH

This run is awesome. Only a few minutes in and the nostalgia factor is a big deal, but the commentary is so chill and informative, awesome job!
Well done Zic, this was such a fun watch, especially with the crowd joining in!
This is the Coolaid Man game i never knew i needed
OH YEAAAAAAH
Same I could NOT beat that second level. This and the syphon filter demo I played over and over again. Chicken run speedrun next?
There's a chicken run game?. I might have had the game when I was younger but I didn't remember.

This was my favorite game as a kid, cool to see it run!

I absolutely loved this game as a child ^^
In my childhood I couldn't beat many games, but A Bug's Life was one of those that I was able to beat. Had the PC version
the goop in level 7 is Raid (only hurt carpenter ants like Flik)
He was so right about that 4th level, it took forever to beat
That third level prevented me from beating this game as a kid. I just didn't get what I was supposed to do.
oh YEAH!!!

I think I 100%'d this game as a teenage. Pretty sure it was the PS1 version.
YOU CAN KICK????
Never finished this game. Super hard for a kid
I'm pretty sure I played this game on Dreamcast? Maybe my memory is jumbled.
BUG BABY
giving me fucking flashbacks 😂 i love this, great job
