Excellent video. I like that you were just driving with a head mounted go pro camera, and you were quiet and let us hear the car perform. Manual transmissions give you other unmentioned driving and control options, with the different gears and torque ranges, and the locked in ratio that is impossible on automatics. With just the acellerator you can speed up or slow down using the engine and drive train, giving you more control, body lean, sliding through turns feel, etc. Resulting in the "fun drive" like nascar drivers get to experience. Thanks! I have had plenty of 4 cylinder manual shift cars too! And a lot of dirt track sliding experience.
I own a 1.4 in ECO trim, same year. I now have 240,000 on it and plan to keep going! The one in this review had the 1.8 and no -turbo...actually a Corolla engine. I would definitely go with the 1.8 if I had to choose again as they last forever and have almost as much power. I’ve been very happy with mine.
When you're filming a POV review with a manual car, PLEASE adjust your camera lower so that we can see you shifting the gears. I want to see how the gear lever looks/sounds when changing gears. It gives us a much better feel for what it's like to drive that particular car.
These make a good first car. Cheap to insure, and pretty good on gas. I got mine with 177 000km (112k miles) for $3000 Canadian (about $2600 American) over half a year ago. The 1.8, while slower than the turbos, is much less prone to problems, although it uses a timing belt.
@@ryanwashere21 Yeah, it's a shame to see the market get so insane. My buddy is trying to find one and he's having trouble finding a decent deal. If you're in the states they still seem very common at auction with minor damages, could be a deal in those. Another reason mine was so cheap at the time is due to the tires on it being pretty much bald, and the seller was moving.
@@Alexander-jr8nw Yeah shortly after I bought the car it was changed by me & a family member with Acdelco parts. Other than that it's taken a valve cover gasket, and at some point I'm gonna put a new radiator fan in it
@@Alexander-jr8nw Yeah it won't start at all, a/c on or off. I don't sit in traffic very much though so it's only started to overheat once. I'll check the sensors then if they're fine replace the fan motor. The fuse and that are all good.
I drove a automatic cruze my buddy owned and it was a pretty fun car to drive in the corners, not close to fast for straight aways but corners it was fun. I'm currently looking a 6 speed turbo model to pick up for $4k and 80k miles just needs a couple body related things done. The turbo model still isn't fast at all but I love hearing the turbo spooling lol
A strange is the sounds I think I prefer the 1.8 over the 1.4 turbo in this body style, it’s much more simplistic, and it gets roughly the same amount miles per gallon wise as the turbo, and the 1.8 is a tried and true engine, it’s been around since 1982 and was used in most Opel vehicles back in the day
@@SternDrive perfect, Ihave a question for you since I can’t find anyone with a 6spd cruze besides myself, when you have your A/C on is your Cruze extremely under powered, like foot to the floor and it barley moves under powered? Mine is, so much so I had to get a pedal commander just so I can merge onto the highway when useing my A/C
@@DREADNOUGHT.01 Mine is in the shop getting the clutch replaced because it was slipping (I had a manual before but never had the clutch slip so I didn't recognize the symptoms I was having was related to it). I bought the car about 7k miles ago and I thought it accelerated slow because it was a weaker engine. The rpms tended to jump up very slightly in between gear shifts but I assumed it was from being rusty on driving a manual. After a while usually after 30 minutes of driving (and with ac on), the rpms would shoot up more but I would get no real power. I thought it was related to the ac being on but after a while that proved not to be the case. It just became worse in the past month to where I drastically lose speed on hills even when I downshift. Accelerating from any red light was disasterly slow. idk if this what you are experiencing.

You got yours at a perfect time cause the ones I see are going 5k easily with a lot of miles.

The 1.4T is a lemon please go for 1.8

andd what was fuel consumption ? L/100km ?
Just bought mine for $9.1k @ 91k miles and feel like I took a loss after hearing ur price.
This video is from last year, before used car prices skyrocketed, so in the current market I feel you still got a good deal

Did this model have cruise control?
I think every car does. And yes, it does.
A manual with cruze crontrol?
@@Insert639 all cars have cruise* control. Why wouldn’t a manual?
Base models like this LS 1.8 did not have cruise control. Had to step up to an LT to get cruise, and that comes with the 1.4T.
