    Screw group projects and the teachers that assign them. Whenever a teacher lets us choose to work with a group or work alone i almost always work alone because i end up doing all the work anyway.

    I am freshman also and just going into college with a good GPA from high school. I would really just calm down. I am pretty stressed too but remember it won't help you to be stressed. Your probably thinking, how do I have time to eat? how do I find washrooms? where are classes? what laptop do I buy? Almost all freshman are asking the same questions. Relaxed for the new few days or weeks before it starts and enjoy your time. Its really not that hard as you think it is.

    7 classes? That's what you call a semester overload. Most college systems have students obtain an approval from admissions, counselor's, or a dean, in order take a.load of more than 18 credits.
    However, you forgot to mention about the quarter system. It allows students to take more classes on a year without the stress of overloading. While such classes are only typically 10 weeks plus finals, students won't have to retain information for 16 weeks unless it's a class that builds on previous knowledge, suchlike in physics or chemistry series. If taking a class for GE credit, memorization passed 12 weeks won't be needed. This is the benefit of the quarter system. Teachers also don't have the time to cover all topics normally that could be covered in a semester course, suchlike material in a remedial intermediate algebra course.
    You also forgot to mention that student grades in a class are calculated by very few assignments. Analogous to high school, final exams can carry about 25% to 60% of a course's grade while he work can weigh as little as 0% to 15%. 0%? Classes consisting of daily problem sets may be assigned but never actually collected by the instructor. I had a math instructor who followed this type of model when assigning homework. Daily homework? If taking a 5 credit math class on a quarter system, there are chances of the class meeting Monday through Friday for 50 minutes, unless taking an online or hybrid course. However, don't be fooled by hybrid courses that may only meet 3 times a week with 2 additional hours online. Classes suchlike
    this will still require doing homework Monday through Friday, or any combination of 5 days.
    However, classes without problem sets, like music appreciation, may not require daily homework. Music theory may contain daily assignments; however, music appreciation may primarily graded on an analytical essay or 2, weighing 40% of your course grade. Other humanities classes, such as moral philosophy, may only assign a 100 page book for the whole quarter and but be graded on essays culminating in a potluck during finals week! That's right. There is a fair chance humanities classes won't have a final. However, be forewarned if there is a final in a humanities class! This type of final forces you to regurgitate ideas from the quarter but in an in class essay exam. While these "blue book" exams can still happen, there is a chance your teacher will not hold type of exam in a philosophy or music class. However, students should still be mindfully prepared for this type of exam, if the situation is called for. In other words, do not expect to have either option when going into college -- expect anything. What does this mean? In other words, know blue book exams can happen in college but don't expect to have a blue book exam until you actually see on day 1 from reading the syllabus that you will be held responsible for knowing the class material in the form if a comprehensive final. Most finals are comprehensive. Some finals are just regular exams testing only on the last few weeks. And lastly, not all comprehensive final exams are blue book exams. However, before the class even starts, mindfully prepare yourself for anything.
    Regarding hard sciences , you probably will have a comprehensive exam. Sorry, no potluck! With soft sciences, you may or may not have a final. It really depends on the subject matter. Classes not containing lots of concepts, such as Sociology for example, may not have a final exam but rather a term paper since tge subject is more or less writing about society using concepts from sociology or analyzing social problems, rather than just memorizing definitions. Psychology, on the other hand, could be considered the hardest "soft science" since it generally requires memorizing definitions and analyzing theory. You also have to have a basic understanding of the biological functions of the brain. If you rather write a term paper, sociology is your best bet. If you rather take a class that has a final exam with a scantron and short essay, take psychology. If you cannot memorize tons of new concepts, take sociology. However, writing a paper longer than 8 pages can be hard, but tutors can aid in giving you ideas to write longer papers, not just words. The 30 page paper is dying off, especially at freshman am sophomore level classes. However, you might be required to write one (1) 15-page paper in composition II, if your school requires a documented essay writing class. However, your senior year may require a 30 to 50 page thesis. But don't fret! Every type of college major is not required to write such a paper, or mini-novel. I've heard students who have claimed that their longest paper assigned was only 10 pages. When writing a short documented essay, work your hardest on the claim -- an illustration explaining what the overall problem is and why it's important. Sometimes a claim can be 2 pages long, sometimes 3. Then write the rest of your essay, followed by revising your claim. If you write a well structured claim and a good conclusion, your teacher may grade your theory section less harsh, even if it has its fallacies. Don't actually believe what I've just written. However, for peace of mind. it may help you to be less stressful. However, writing a good claim is like 50% of the battle toward a good grade on a documented essay. If it helps, always try to explain. the irony of a problem or argument. That may lead to a good thesis and claim.

      @@michaelcovington4606 Then don't read it Mr Covington.
      Besides, you should expect long commentary on videos with the subject name "college."
      My advice is for people who want to read it. Not interested? Well, then move on.
      Besides, there's no thesis. Hence, this cannot be an essay. At best, its di ilar to a blog, but written in the comment section.
      Writing a comment like your is like trying to tell a telemarketer that you're nit interested but they won't listen. Its better just to hang up and say bye bye.

    College started out fun with parties and easy classes. Then senior year comes and your parents, the amount of money you spend the last 3 years, future career, and not being a complete failure are the only things that get you though till graduation.

    Depends on what classes your taking and your educational background going into college. Me personally, I found College Algebra to be extremely difficult. However, I found Programming to be extremely easy. My major was Information Technology back in college not math, so maybe that was the problem. Also, I went to a very prestigious college so the curriculum did not make it any easier(The United States Naval Academy). College Algebra at The Naval Academy is technically a combination of AP Calculus/Discrete Math/Linear Algebra. Its was not a typical College Algebra course just dealing with functions, Linear and Quadratic equations. So, it also depends on the institution in regards to the level of difficulty.

      The Best Licuorice if you’re looking for a place to get hands on experience college is the right step because not only will you get hands on experience but you’ll have time to study and pursue your subject. University on the other hand is difficult. Most people told me that when you’re in university you don’t get the hands on experience.

    Also, as far as handling stress, at least with me, I started smoking (I know, for shame!) worse than I was before, like it was disgusting really. There are better, healthier ways to calm yourself and take care of stress, like Jeffrey said, relax, dance, dude go to the gym. Don't turn to bad habits to handle stress. Now I'm smoke free and joining a gym ;D Wonderful advice!

Is there anything that I can do in college to make the transition easier? besides going to class, studying etc...

    • @Confidential619
      @Confidential619 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      tv0 exactly we just grew up naturally saying funny stuff to our friends our whole life so I guess that why mostly we're funny. (Has nothing to do with "hood" though really) haha. At least for me I just grew up with playing with my friends that lived closer to me and we had nothing else better to do but talk shit to each other for fun, and rides bikes all day in the heat.

    • @Confidential619
      @Confidential619 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has nothing to do with being offensive haha. It just always has been like that. You people aren't the type to be funny, you people are the type just to be calm, fancy, and talk right. It's always been like that for you since the England days in the 1800's . Nothing against white people, it's just always been like that.
