This passage contains the best example in the Bible of how to witness to an unbeliever. Jesus was very plain and clear to Nicodemus. Jesus could not be misunderstood. When He finished (at v.21), Nicodemus knew: (1) why Jesus came into the world; (2) that belief in Him would ensure everlasting life; and (3) non-belief in Him would ensure eternal condemnation. Jesus, also, made it clear as to why the natural man refuses the free gift of salvation. It is because his deeds are evil.
In this passage is the most well-known verse in the Bible, John 3:16.
