Thank you for your video. For me, it can be seen at any moment that "I" is just a sound, and that there is no experience in particular that it references.
But all of the patterns of being that are built upon there being something there that it references, definitely do not dissolve simply upon that recognition. To me, it's very mysterious how all those patterns might change, or don't. It makes me consider, what or who has to "see" that? Where does this seeing need to land? It is certainly not enough for the thinker to notice it, in order to create any ongoing shifts in experience.
But I haven't yet seen your whole video! :)

Yes, "I" dones not reference an experience... but what it references is real.

Looking for the I is like trying to find what's at th core of an onion...peel the layers away and come up empty.

Does the realization that I Am, no matter what, mean the end of suffering (that is: no need for external validation)? Or am I misinterpreting it? Also - how do I recognize I am prior to time and space?

I Am realization is not the end of suffering, it's the beginning of the end but there is more work ahead. It can definitely alleviate darkness but will likely bring about the challenge of direct relating with fear and pain.
I Am realization is exactly that, the direct experiential knowing : I Am prior to time, space, experience... body, mind.
There are several approaches, Buddhist or Advaitist self-inquiry...
What matters most in the approach is to debunk the beliefs of the sort: "I am bound in time and space", "what I am begins and ends (body)", arriving at a not-knowing and staying there is fundamental, then the realization can come about spontaneously.

Why can't I be partially my hand? It sounds like the finger joint can not be the finger or the car doors and engine of a car is not the car.

If you lose your hand, a part of you is gone, but what you call "I" remains untouched, what is that?
