I have a Darien deck and my favorite card for this deck is Jade Monolith. One generic mana, redirect damage from one creature to myself at instant speed and I can do that on my enemies' creatures and at instant speed. What's better than building my board during my turn? BUILDING IT ON SOMEONE ELSE'S TURN. Also, it's super political too.
I think that Scout’s Warning would be perfect for this deck. People often won’t attack then Darion is out. Flash him out when attackers has been declared. Get your soldiers.
Passing with 7+ mana up in a mono W deck is mad suspicious, though. No one will just attack you like you’re not sitting on a Settle the Wreckage or something. Too cute imo
Regarding the Cathars' Crusade, what you want to do is put all your creatures in one area, with one+1/+1 counter above that area. When the next batch of creatures come in, add a counter to the first area, put the second batch in a different area, and put a single +1/+1 counter on the new area. And so on for the third, fourth, and fifth. Suck it, Moses.
Fire and brimstone is secretly great in this deck. The floor is 4 damage to you and 4 damage to an opponent you make 4 1/1s. Ceiling is 8 damage to yourself you gain 8/16/24 life create 8 1/1s. Seems solid for 3ww at Instant speed.
I am now convinced your group's meta is way different than mine. Some of the cards you cut like Blood of the Martyr, are all stars in the deck. At least with my group. Our decks are very similar. I opted for Aetherflux Reservoir and Test of Endurance for wincons. Storm Herd is also in mine for a wincon. I wish I could afford a Mana Crypt for mine. I went opposite with lands. I kept pain lands but more plains so Emeria triggers. I have also taken the Dingus Staff/Ashnod's Altar combo out because I had Dingus Staff backfire way too many times. It's a neat trick, but just a trick.
To count cathars, just make groups of tokens. Put one dice over them that indicates the +1/+1. So a 1 die above like 10 tokens means all of them have a +1/+1.
Darien is my favorite commander and I'll shout it from the rooftops every time. Question though. I'm seeing fetchlands in this deck... Am I missing what they're for? Paying life does not equal taking damage so they don't trigger Darien.
Hey! I run them as they provide lots of incremental value. Field triggers, I can use weathered wayfarer in response to cracking them to get below the required landcount, they are ramp with brought back, sevinnes reclamation etc etc. Oh, and they shuffle my library after scrollrack, but the nerds cut that card. Fetches still are dope though
Exactly! It's really good, but WAY too inconvenient to play IMO. In a casual setting I happily lose some win% cutting it in favor of more fluent gameplay
Hold on a second! Darien is my favorite edh deck. I have it as a soldier tribal (what a surprise, I know) and only now after couple of years I'm finding out he's soldier himself? I have original copy from Coldsnap which says Human Lord and not Human Soldier. I feel kind of stupid right now 😀 I was always thinking how cool it would be if he was soldier as well... Wells this information improved my deck without making any changes to it. Thank you 😀
I preferred when the supporter names were ordered by name. It was easier to anticipate when my name would fly by. Is that a little vain? Yes. But sometimes it's the small things in life, amiright?

Hey guys, I was wondering why you wouldn't add in a By Invitation Only in the board wipe slot, as i feel like it would be good considering the amount of creatures you have.
With how many board wipes exile or sac, I think spirit losses to Guardian. Especially when your playing a 6 mana commander in a white deck. It also dodges mass bounce. 1 extra mana is worth the added insurance AND the fact that it has flash.

I'm 100% adding the veteran, but I dont think I'll cut the ascendant for it. Personal attachment to the card, I just like making people sweat dropping it T1
Haven't looked at the deck yet, but I literally just built Darien! Does it have a good number of anthems? I actually cut skullclamp(sad face!) cause my tokens we're always 2/2 or better when I drew it.
I do have some, but not many. More of a late game thing a la elesh norn. Skullclamp is absolutely insane in (my version of) the deck. I run phyrexian altar as well as ramp/combo piece, so I got some reach even if my soldiers are buffed
For Cathar’s Crusade. I just put 1 spin down on the card and look at the dice to tell my opponent how many counters are on the board. Suck it Moses. And if you haven’t played harmonious archon with the crusade on the battlefield, get your 2nd spin down ready
I play mainly mono white. I prefer Spirit Guardians over Selfless Spirit. The amount of board wipes now that exile or sacrifice is surprisingly high. The Phasing out and instant speed of Spirit Guardians is often better than the very telegraphed Selfless Spirit.
Cyclonic Rift... that is all. If there's a sure thing in Commander... It's that the blue player WILL have cyclonic rift. Also Teferi's Protection is a one-off, Spirit Guardian isn't.
I don't think Blasting Station can combo with just Darien and a Soul sister. Aren't you sacrificing the same token you just created to activate blasting station over and over?

i play field in every deck out of principle ^^ i just love the card, and im gonna make it work. with the words of dark confidant: greatness, at any cost! personal incarnation sadly wouldnt work, life loss isnt damage, but all damage makes you lose life :) never considered nomads assembly, but it feels kinda winmore to me. i could talk about that deck the whole day, its my baby :D if you want to enjoy my ramblings more, join the discord ;)

My original build had that! In the end I ended up cutting it as I wanted to try out other stuff, the list is more or less in constant flux. There are SO MANY cool cards for darien, but sadly only 100 deckslots. I keep it in mind though, probably adding it again eventually, such a cool interaction
Unm why in the world would you not include Luminarch Ascension or jade Monolith or much protection Darian? I mean to be able to stick on the board he needs hexproof/shroud/indestructible to even have a chance of sticking on the board and the deck does nothing without him. Just been playing Darian for a very long time and although I have 40+ decks, Darian is my favorite. I have spent 16 mana before just to recast Darian so yeah... he draws TONS of hate.
Luminarch Ascension is awesome in the deck because if they hit you so it doesn't activate... then great! You get a bunch of soldiers... if they don't hit you then great! .. You overwhelme the board with angels! As far as jade Monolith it is awesome!... it will get you so many soldiers out of nowhere and will let you get chip damage in wherever you want (once the opponents realize if they block, you will get more soldiers).
@@nickleewright both cards are really good for the deck for sure! sadly i only have 100 deckslots, and i just prefer other cards, even if they might be less powerful :) i have a 100+ maybe pile and keep swapping things out occasionally to keep things fresh

Pooped outside (I didn't have a litter box). Would tap on the window of the room I was in to let me know he wanted to come back inside. Cats are brilliant. Thinking they can't be trained is a ridiculous myth.

Doesn't work, because I don't play 1 swatch of simultaneously entering creatures. They pile up over time, requiring their own track keeping. Still not sucking it!
I use darien as 99 in my heliod deck, cuz then i give a lose/lose choice to my opponents: let me get infinite life, or give me million of tokens hahaha

I think catapult master will only need to fire the target creature out of the catapult if its indestructible.
The 5 soldiers are not to man the catapult, they're to subdue the creature and load it into the catapult

My Derian deck has a hard lock with a 3 card combo. Elesh Norn, Kormus Bell, and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.

Court of grace incentivizes players to hit you, which synergizes with Darien don’t think it should be cut

I would swap out Serra Ascendant for Lunarch Veteran. Having a soul sister out is so important and having two out is a blast.

Yo Moses, If you make 6 tokens with Cathars Crusade out, you go 6 counters on the first one, 5, 4 etc and 1 on the last - no dice turning.
The problem is the 100 tokens after that. Every following tokens increases the count, and gets increased by the ones following them. It's a hassle
