Japanise people seem to läs ke Ski jumping, at least back in the day, I sort of remember that they were pretty good in the 90s. Good at jumping in styles.
Ah, the wacky days of ski jumping past. Standing starts, parallel skis, no helmets. Good that those days are over. Great footage though. Funny that the majority of these jumpers have wide open mouths, you see that less and less these days too. I wonder if anyone has done a study on the aerodynamic effects of sky jumping with yer yap wide open. No world record has ever been set by a ski jumper with their trap set to yawn mode. I just made up that stat!
Well, Japanese jumper changed style, didn't they?! I think they started with the wide stile and i think judges were deducting pts because of that, back then lol

An elegant master and one of my youth heroes. I loved ski jumping all my life. My deep respect for this outstanding athlete.

I think Sapporo 1972's medals led to Nagano 1998 and 2022's Ryoyu Kobayashi's gold medal.
