I have built a legendary collection in 2020 including games like Def Jam FFNY, Scarface The World is Yours, Fifa Street 2 (When EA actually made amazing sports games), Need For Speed Underground 2, Midnight Club 3, The Warriors, The Godfather, and so much more. Good list. I dislike most of them for fairly standard reasons, e.g. generic gameplay, boring story, bland world, etc., but with The Last of Us 2 it's more than that; I hate it for ideological reasons. I hate what the game represents, and what Naughty Dog represent. They don't care about making fun games anymore. That should be blatantly clear to everyone. Like, how you play The Last of US 2 and think "yeah, this is really fun, definitely something I'm gonna wanna play again"? It's straight up misery porn; a depressing, violent, nasty, mean-spirited, nihilistic and miserable game, made for miserable people. I hate that this game even exists and was as highly praised among game journalists and redditors, and other assorted non-humans. It represents the absolute worst path that modern gaming can take, and I hope to god people wake up to that soon.
All true. The kicker for me is that the first one was incredible and set things up for them,and then they don't just blow it,they destroyed the franchise.
We still got people claiming there's gonna be a "third game". Who the hell wants to play as Abby again? That was torture enough as it is, not to mention f*cking boring because I hated her. They forget the reason anyone cared about TLOU2 was because of Ellie and Joel, not that "thing" they call a "woman" who killed him with a golf club, or wannabe "Ellie 2.0". The two biggest reasons I was invested in this game got killed off in the most sickening way (Joel), or butchered and tortured beyond repair cuz' they have nothing to live for (Ellie). Old Naughty Dog is dead, pretty much all of the talented old guard over there are gone (Bruce Straley, Amy Hennig, to name two). TLOU2's sales are still beyond garbage 8 months later. This franchise is as dead as Dead Space.
there are only a few "miserable" games i enjoy with This War of Mine probably topping my list, but yeah, i hate everything about TLOU2, especially after all of ND's other good games.

I like your comment and totally understand your sentiment. I’m also there with you most of the way. However, I did have fun playing it and I played it twice to get the platinum. There are a handful of set pieces (I.e. the fire-lit horror-fest in the forest, and the final chapter in California) that i adored and I will likely play through again. But yeah, I agree with you for the most part and I wish I had bought the game used so Naughty Dog didn’t get my money. They will not be receiving it again I can assure you that.
They're pretty much the same thing to me, I don't really care to make an "objectively worst" games list. I can't separate my emotions from facts for something like this. Plus, Cyberpunk would be way lower, it would be #4 or 5, since I played it on PC.
The Last of Us 2. Honestly, there's no words that'll describe how empty, how cheated, how disrespected and disappointed I felt after finishing that game, and I don't mean that in the "good way". The emotions I felt with this game was exactly how I felt about Halo 5 years ago, where you're promised something, your expectations are set, and then every single promise is broken, and every expectation you had dies one by one. Joel (a fantastically written character) was done the dirtiest, treated with zero fanfare, fairness, or respect, and was used/discarded for one of the most cliche tropes/atrociously written stories in gaming, and his death killed ALL of my enthusiasm for the rest of the game. Ellie? She was nowhere near compelling as she used to be, she had none of the chemistry with her redshirt friends like she had with Joel or Riley or Bill because she was straight. up. BORING! Even her sense of humor completely vanished, so it was very difficult to invest in her, and none of the support cast were written well enough that could carry the game like someone like Tess. And Abby? She's the reason TLOU is dead to me. And TLOU2 is the reason why Naughty Dog is dead to me. But hey, on the bright side, Resident Evil 8 and Halo Infinite are keeping my days very bright this year.
We were promised the continuation of Joel and Ellie’s story and that’s pretty much what we got. Also, thinking Joel deserves fanfare for his death when no other character in the FRANCHISE has gotten any is just delusional. I’m sorry, but not everyone in the game sees Joel the same way we do. It took Ellie 4-5 YEARS to understand how we feel about him.
2020, especially coupled with Covid, has not only made me think about what games were bad, but if the games that I'm actually investing my time in were actually good enough. It's reached a certain point in the bell curve where the absurd, the laziest, the lowest hanging fruit has become the standard, the normal. Sequels don't feel the need to impress us anymore, apart from a mild graphical touch and a few tweaks to gameplay. Other games try to do everything they can to be big and awesome spectacles, but end up feeling extremely rushed and sloppy, like Doom Eternal or Final Fantasy XV. And then you have indie games, which are nothing but platformers about depression, death or being a minority. Big woop. That last bit was sarcasm but Jesus Christ so many of these are exactly the same. On Steam you get at least 95% positive reviews guaranteed if one of these three subjects are in your Unity platformer game. Especially with Cyberpunk we've reached a watershed moment when it comes to bad games and just bad entertainment in general. And what's even worse is that you can't even rely on word of mouth anymore: Cyberpunk still sits comfortably at 78% "Mostly Positive" on Steam with over 300,000 user reviews - which is insane. People have been brainwashed into liking games that suck complete dick and are so addicted and toxically in love with a logo or a trailer that any criticism towards it will be seen as "nitpicking". What drugs are these people on? Remember Battlefront II? Remember Fallout 76? Remember No Man's Sky? And these games KEEP SELLING, with the argument from the bleating crowd being: "but they fixed it tho". And that's the mentality of most gamers now, and this is the direction the industry has gone with. Why do you need to create a great game at launch if people are satisfied with lootboxes, and crafting games with randomly generated worlds and "Go here kill X" games? It's death by apathy, from both the developers (yes, they are also to blame) and gamers. Both parties have become dumber, more cowardly, more easily pleased and just lazier in general. I think the only winning move here is not to play at all - literally. Games cost a lot of money to buy, limited time of your life to play and end up making you feel worse afterwards: it's the perfect misery cocktail.
This comment hit me hard, man. I've been finding myself more and more dusting off my SNES and PS2... and I've been having an absolute blast. I was surprised how well alot of the older games have held up and I can see all the passion, soul, ingenuity and sweat that went into crafting these gems. DM or slayer wasn't even included as a standard feature in MP WHUT? basic free for all was not included day one! challenges are worthless and force people to play a certain way, progression is stifled and there's barely any content story lacks coop and halo they have the unmitigated gall to charge $60 never lower your expectations....IDC if games cost $100 trillion to make, the way they're made now and sold is atrocious on all levels, the greed is insane and I honestly say if you play on PC pirate all day everyday without guilt cus otherwise you'll get screwed over and ripped off..... not trying to be mean or anything so don't read that into it oh and the only down side to TS in 2022 is no online play but 4 way play and networking still works so maybe a old school LAN party is in order?? it's too bad MS or another reputible company didn;t buy free radical and have em remaster the series for X360 so we could have online play? eh

Hard to believe it's the same company that made the masterpiece of Witcher 3. Ya I know, they aren't REALLY the same company anymore. I'm glad i didn't grew up in the old days of gaming. I'm 20 and currently discovered the gems on snes and ps1, have to say i completely get where gaming boomers are coming from, the best games i played last year where crono trigger, Suikoden 2 and wild arms 2 and i enjoyed them more than anything on Ps4 or Xbox one. Makes me wonder the stuff now just sucks so hard.

Saul is with me because my game glitched on a rescue mission and he's just a companion now! I bought 'Zeitgeist 2020' on release day- played 70 hours and haven't completed it...and probably won't. I'm very disappointed, even more with the people claiming that the game experience is adequate let alone good! I mean San Andreas was a better representation of: "the most realistic game-world (to date)"- CDPR: lying S.o.S.C! (I'll let you make-up your own acronym for that).

This list is pretty flexible except for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, honestly I feel slightly bad about putting it there but I really didn't play any other bad games this year.

That's what video games are for. I've been saying this for about 15 years that nobody wants to play a 100% realistic video game. The more realistic the games become, the more boring and irrelevant they become and they all mutate into the 'walk simulator' The only thing that can work are realistic approaches in a non-realistic world. see witcher or other fantasy games. Even GTA is only so good because it's not realistic. the world is realistic but what you do there is less realistic. Both realistic and you have RDR2 or take out the bullseye and you are dead after a maximum of 2 hits. have fun with such a game.
I agree to an extent. Realistic games have their place and I’d argue that rdr2 wouldn’t be as impactful if the world wasn’t so believable. I’m just annoyed that realistic games are really all we get now, that or cartoons. My personal favorite games are semi-realistic. Unrealistic but logical and consistent so I can suspend my disbelief. Games like Bioshock or Wolfenstein or FEAR. I miss those kinds of games

the games i played in 2020 werent 2020 games ... i just continued playing Monster Hunter World, and I finally bought a switch and got to play Breath of the Wild. 2020 sucked ass for gaming.

what is lost from game devs these days is that they weren't making games like the older days...where they made games because they just wanted to make a badass games....that's why in PS2 and PS3 era we can find many good games...even legendary ones...these days...people don't make games anymore...they make money from making games...which is sucks.....there is no more idealism that the past game devs have....these days people are milking the game industries because of the money...not the quality of the sake of the games itself that's why games nowadays sucks....
yea i agree, games aren't made with passion and just to get as much money as possible. no originality, only good thing is graphics but the gameplay is lackluster and lacks depth along with replayability.
RE3R actually isn’t a bad game at all. I just beat it yesterday, get it on sale on Fanatical for $17, totally worth it. Just don’t expect it to be nearly as scary or suspenseful as RE2R.
hades and risk of rain 2 were 2 great rougelikes that got full releases in 2020 and theyre some of my favorites from last year. doom eternal was probably my favorite big AAA game last year, but i didnt buy any other AAA games either. bannerlord came out in early access last year too, but i havet played much of it though.

The saddest part is Last of Us 2 ( another generic action adventure 3rd person game ) got so many awards and broke so many records. Developers see this half-arsed game and come to the conclusion that you dont need to make an actually good game only a mediocre one and ull get the same amount of money. Take cyberpunk as another example even if u fix all the bugs there is nothing there to do and many people are claiming it not only as one of the best of the year but as one of the best games ever made like wtf.

My worst will be definitely Cyberpunk 2077 and TLOU Part 2. Its seems all this " Corporate" game developer no longer produce a game that put gaming as passion, it just pure make more money. They just focus and getting better on visuals, BUT the story, interactions and pure excitement for the love of gaming no longer the main agenda...
I feel like the last few years have all been my worst year for gaming. Unless something drastically changes in the industry I don't see it getting any better. Looking at how many awards and golden dildos Last of Us 2 was showered with pretty kills any hope I had it would get any better.

They're chopping the game up in parts to sell at full price each which is anti consumer and disgusting part 1 is only 10% of the original game. Idiots removed so much content from the OG it's insulting press F to pay respects to the Grave Digger. 3.TLOUPII (boycotted) I liked the 1st but I didn't love it, I've had a shaky relationship with Naughty Dog since they ended Jak & started Uncharted cinematic presentation over gameplay . When I saw the leaks I laughed. I'm still laughing at this trash. I've never played a CDPR game so no expectations for Cyberjunk 2077 I'm still laughing at this one too at least the memes are legendary. Only 2020 releases I enjoyed were Ghost & Crash 4 2020 was shit. A ton of games should have been delayed. Not very hopeful for 2021 either.
I boycotted FFVII Remake too. I'm done with Square Enix. Only game I'm buying from them is the mainline Dragon Quest games. I also boycotted TLOU2. I saw the story leaks and I laughed at how god awful the story was. Naughty dog is dead to me and its sad because I enjoyed TLOU multiplayer. Crash 4 was fun.
I bought a RTX 3080 and a pretty crazy gaming PC... and now theres literally no good games because Cyberpunk was like 20 hours of fun. RIP. Now I cant sell my PC for anything near what I spent and theres no good games on the horizon.
There's always great old games. Thief trilogy, classic Valve/Blizzard games, Crysis, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Planescape: Torment, and many others exclusive to PC. There's also Console emulation and a massive catalogue of Indie titles (though quality is highly variable, you're bound to find something you like). I'm sure you can find a few reasons to keep a PC that powerful.
The best thing is to find some new multiplayer games to play with your friends. That's what I aim to do. My toaster can't run some of the games we want to play together.

What's your thoughts on Witcher 3, Synthetic Man? I've been trying to get into it because everyone spergs out about how amazing it is, and it's really disappointing so far. As another gaming purist, the combat is just sooo bad IMO.
The combat is without a doubt the worst part of the game. I pushed through it for the story, and didn't regret it, but I'm not sure I would rank it up there with Fallout New Vegas or Mass Effect 2 as "Greatest Western RPG" or something like that. I couldn't help but think they should've just ripped off Souls combat.
The Witcher 3 is dull. It just is. It doesn't help that the advertised best part, i.e. narrative, is exceedingly depressing with a story filled with miserable people & locations, with quests involving wife beating, alcoholism, suicide & other such edgy shit which makes teenagers feel like adults when they're playing the game.
I've been playing a lot of good games recently, that aren't from 2020 - Don't Starve Together, Stardew Valley, Starbound, revisited Portal and Portal 2. That said I also played several AAA games from 2020 that completely put me off, couple of which you've listed in this video. I guess I'm going to wait for your future thoughts about upcoming releases before preordering any more crap.
Great video man I agree 100%. I've played a few games this year, mostly red dead redemption 2, even though its from 2018, it didn't come out on PC until November of 2019 so I bought it right then and there and didn't really stop playing it until about maybe April or may of 2020. Played a few other games, AC valhalla (which I thought was pretty good for the first 20 hours or so, then got really bored of it), cyberpunk (meh), a few of the COD remasters as well as Black ops Cold war and modern warfare 2019 (had an okay time with those honeslty), and thats really it honeslty. I started a new game of RDR2 the other night and thats good except when I tried to play it today im getting another error that won't let me start the game (which I've had alot of in the beginning).

I don't think I'll be anticipating any games for a while, sadly. Cyberpunk dealt another permanent blow to my hype meter, one I haven't felt since Fallout 4. Though I am interested in Resident Evil 8. This probably doesn't count but I am a little excited for the last Binding of Isaac expansion. Anything else I'll have to see more in-depth trailers for, with a release date within 3 months. Long term hype is just not worth it.
Resident Evil 3 Remake was definitely my biggest disappointment for 2020. Can't wait to see if those RE Village story leaks are true. Oh boy if they are true, very bad...
Last good year was 2016 and that was because of DOOM and Dark Souls 3. Last time I bought something new was Code Vein and that's because I'm into both anime and Souls-likes. However I plan to buy RE8 day of release as RE7 is what got me into the franchise back in 2017. And I have since beat Re 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, Revilations, (Have them all physically on PS4) I’m a huge fan of first person RE. and typically prefer first person horror
You should wait with Re8, Capcom did awful things with RE7 back in 2017 by cutting parts of the game and selling them like "dlc"... just a few weeks after its release and that game without dlc's should have had a price of $30 or $35. If you want to play wisely, wait a few monts after the realease of RE8 and buy it at a lower price or even better (because I have no doubt Capcom is going to make it) wait for the Gold Edition, that is always the best option and is like the Full Resident Evil game, not a cropped version that capcom made to earn more money. About RE3 reboot, I think that game is better at a price of $20 or $25 but if you really can't wait, buy it at $30

Resident Evil 3 could have so much better if they didn't cut half of the content from the original. The Resident Evil 1 remake is one of the best remakes ever cause they didn't cut anything out, they added to it instead, something the Resident Evil 3 remake should have done but didn't.
It is ironic that when we have the appropriate technology and softwares, there are hardly any good games, but when graphics were not so advanced, games were better. As long as these cartoonish or mass games are common, there is barely hope.

My game for 2020 was just playing the stock market. Been pretty burned out with how many shit releases there have been so far. I did pickup Cyberpunk but it felt like just a shittier hyped up grand theft future. Hopefully 2021 is a better year. I'm waiting for the devs at Larian to finish Baldur's Gate 3.

As much as I get the criticism I love Valhalla, I like playing it. You can call my taste shit but that’s me. I like this game a lot I enjoyed combat, the relationship of the two characters Eivor and Sigurd. Throughly enjoyed it. And I agree with a lot of the criticism I wish the elements of this game since Norse Mythology was involved might’ve felt more grand but I liked what it was. Maybe that’s just me
You definitely have to question a lot of prominent TH-camrs that tried to sell Cyberpunk with the reviews they made. Especially when people like Skillup and others apparently played the game roughly 6 months before release and still hyped it up. Either CDPR lied and gave them something totally different than the real game (which doesn't make sense), or they lied about the game to generate more hype. I think it was Dreamcastguy that played it on console before patches released and almost gave it a perfect score. Cyberpunk's release really exposed a lot of people, IMO.

Don't have to when the entire game was leaked months before release Good Graphics and gore, that's it. Same gameplay with barely any improvements, and a story objectively worse than its predecessor (can't say that's subjective when the entire game was leaked by an employee for that reason)

Cyberpunk 2077 (Despite all the hate my copy wasn't bug riddled and actually played properly so I was able to enjoy the hell out of it.) Haha
I only played four 2020 release titles and all of them were pretty good. Hades is the clear best, Deep rock galactic is fun, Granblue fantasy versus is pretty good, even though its super overpriced, and Daemon X Machina turned out being much better than I was expecting. Would recommend each of them, except maybe GBFV unless youre fine with spending too much.
Hades was awesome, I supported that game from early Alpha and watching it grow and how much content the devs put in and seeing how they listened to fans was really good, one of the gems of last year. I'm currently playing Yakuza Like a Dragon and despite never getting into the Yakuza series before I am really enjoying it.

I felt 2020 was a pretty solid year for gaming despite everything going on. Some really noteworthy releases: Doom Eternal Nioh 2 Sakura Wars Streets of Rage 4 Ghost of Tsushima (a little over-rated but very well made) RE3 remake was the worst game I played personally.
i thought origins was great, been playing since the original, but i enjoyed odyssey for the exploration and the world, since i love ancient history and my mothers side is part greek. but if it didnt capture my interest, idve been burned out by its systems and shit real quick.

@@abovethelaw4417 Last of Us 1 story is better than Last of Us 2 and Uncharted 4 is better than Last of Us 2. The jeep and truck chase was 100 times better than anything in Last of Us 2. Crazy, over the top and pure FUN. I just wish Unch 4 had more moments like that but that chase was brilliant.

He definitely talked about Deus Ex a bit on his Dangers of Overhype Cyberpunk video though which should be good for you because he did that before it was released.
Triple A games really shat the bed this year. Even Doom eternal which I loved and finished on release, i somehow got really bad aftertaste some weeks after the release. It got bloated with shitty story, the shittiest multiplayer, and some personal things like new art direction, level design, and lack of good updates (master levels). Honestly the best game is CoD Warzone. I spent ZERO dollars and had dozens of hours playing solo and with friends/family. This was my first CoD since 2009 as well. Crazy to say this after shitting on this franchise non stop.
Cyberpunk 2077 is also the most disappointing game I played in 2020. I haven't played any other games on your worst games list. In fact, I only played 5 to 6 games that came out in 2020.

Who the hell cares about AssCreed? Animal Crossing died this year and went to DRM Minecraft moba hell where it's beloved by casuals who never even played the earlier titles. It's more fun to write down ideas for a fan made sequel for the original players than it is to play New Horizons. Who wants to use a shrunken map (consider Main Street's absence) with a population cap of 10 to grind crafting materials every day next to villagers who complain if you talk to them more than once per day? We're not even allowed to share patterns anymore unless they get run through Nintendo's paid online censored trash where they banned someone for "racism" because they replicated a record cover with a black silhouette of a person in front of a California sunset. We're not even allowed to have multiple towns by buying more copies of the game. According to Nintendo's ULA, we're technically not allowed to have multiple towns at all. I used to be extremely active in the Animal Crossing scene and NH is depressing.
It's a topic that if I go into too much detail I will likely get into trouble with youtube, but I think Last of Us Part 2 is a good example of the extreme end. Every main character is "diverse" in some way: Two lesbians (one Jewish and pregnant), an asian man (who dies), a roided out she-beast, 1 old white guy who is supposed to represent the corruption of revenge (Joel's brother), a literal transwoman in an apocalypse (lol), and I think you get the point. This is very intentional, Neil Druckmann is, uh, a very special person.
2020 has been very very very disappointing. especially the second half of 2020 where the coronavirus impacted games in their final bugfix stages, dont even get me started on 2021 games i dont even have any hope. since i first got my console i have not experienced as many crashes as i have in the past few months

Good list. I dislike most of them for fairly standard reasons, e.g. generic gameplay, boring story, bland world, etc., but with The Last of Us 2 it's more than that; I hate it for ideological reasons. I hate what the game represents, and what Naughty Dog represent. They don't care about making fun games anymore. That should be blatantly clear to everyone. Like, how you play The Last of US 2 and think "yeah, this is really fun, definitely something I'm gonna wanna play again"? It's straight up misery porn; a depressing, violent, nasty, mean-spirited, nihilistic and miserable game, made for miserable people. I hate that this game even exists and was as highly praised among game journalists and redditors, and other assorted non-humans. It represents the absolute worst path that modern gaming can take, and I hope to god people wake up to that soon.

Who the hell wants to play as Abby again? That was torture enough as it is, not to mention f*cking boring because I hated her. They forget the reason anyone cared about TLOU2 was because of Ellie and Joel, not that "thing" they call a "woman" who killed him with a golf club, or wannabe "Ellie 2.0". The two biggest reasons I was invested in this game got killed off in the most sickening way (Joel), or butchered and tortured beyond repair cuz' they have nothing to live for (Ellie).
Old Naughty Dog is dead, pretty much all of the talented old guard over there are gone (Bruce Straley, Amy Hennig, to name two). TLOU2's sales are still beyond garbage 8 months later. This franchise is as dead as Dead Space.
there are only a few "miserable" games i enjoy with This War of Mine probably topping my list, but yeah, i hate everything about TLOU2, especially after all of ND's other good games.

I like your comment and totally understand your sentiment. I’m also there with you most of the way. However, I did have fun playing it and I played it twice to get the platinum. There are a handful of set pieces (I.e. the fire-lit horror-fest in the forest, and the final chapter in California) that i adored and I will likely play through again. But yeah, I agree with you for the most part and I wish I had bought the game used so Naughty Dog didn’t get my money. They will not be receiving it again I can assure you that.

Honestly, there's no words that'll describe how empty, how cheated, how disrespected and disappointed I felt after finishing that game, and I don't mean that in the "good way". The emotions I felt with this game was exactly how I felt about Halo 5 years ago, where you're promised something, your expectations are set, and then every single promise is broken, and every expectation you had dies one by one.
Joel (a fantastically written character) was done the dirtiest, treated with zero fanfare, fairness, or respect, and was used/discarded for one of the most cliche tropes/atrociously written stories in gaming, and his death killed ALL of my enthusiasm for the rest of the game. Ellie? She was nowhere near compelling as she used to be, she had none of the chemistry with her redshirt friends like she had with Joel or Riley or Bill because she was straight. up. BORING! Even her sense of humor completely vanished, so it was very difficult to invest in her, and none of the support cast were written well enough that could carry the game like someone like Tess. And Abby? She's the reason TLOU is dead to me.
And TLOU2 is the reason why Naughty Dog is dead to me. But hey, on the bright side, Resident Evil 8 and Halo Infinite are keeping my days very bright this year.

2020, especially coupled with Covid, has not only made me think about what games were bad, but if the games that I'm actually investing my time in were actually good enough.
It's reached a certain point in the bell curve where the absurd, the laziest, the lowest hanging fruit has become the standard, the normal. Sequels don't feel the need to impress us anymore, apart from a mild graphical touch and a few tweaks to gameplay. Other games try to do everything they can to be big and awesome spectacles, but end up feeling extremely rushed and sloppy, like Doom Eternal or Final Fantasy XV. And then you have indie games, which are nothing but platformers about depression, death or being a minority. Big woop. That last bit was sarcasm but Jesus Christ so many of these are exactly the same. On Steam you get at least 95% positive reviews guaranteed if one of these three subjects are in your Unity platformer game.
Especially with Cyberpunk we've reached a watershed moment when it comes to bad games and just bad entertainment in general. And what's even worse is that you can't even rely on word of mouth anymore: Cyberpunk still sits comfortably at 78% "Mostly Positive" on Steam with over 300,000 user reviews - which is insane. People have been brainwashed into liking games that suck complete dick and are so addicted and toxically in love with a logo or a trailer that any criticism towards it will be seen as "nitpicking". What drugs are these people on?
Remember Battlefront II? Remember Fallout 76? Remember No Man's Sky? And these games KEEP SELLING, with the argument from the bleating crowd being: "but they fixed it tho". And that's the mentality of most gamers now, and this is the direction the industry has gone with. Why do you need to create a great game at launch if people are satisfied with lootboxes, and crafting games with randomly generated worlds and "Go here kill X" games?
It's death by apathy, from both the developers (yes, they are also to blame) and gamers. Both parties have become dumber, more cowardly, more easily pleased and just lazier in general.
I think the only winning move here is not to play at all - literally. Games cost a lot of money to buy, limited time of your life to play and end up making you feel worse afterwards: it's the perfect misery cocktail.
This comment hit me hard, man. I've been finding myself more and more dusting off my SNES and PS2... and I've been having an absolute blast. I was surprised how well alot of the older games have held up and I can see all the passion, soul, ingenuity and sweat that went into crafting these gems.

full story mode, coop, challenge mode, MP with like 10 modes of play, highly customizable MP, tons of characters to play as and map maker where you make your own maps.....all for $60 in 2000-2005 vs halo infinite a split game that sells you your customizations, wanna paint your armor? each part requires another paint purchase making you pay up like 6 times to paint the whole suit, can't even color your user logo!!!! DM or slayer wasn't even included as a standard feature in MP WHUT? basic free for all was not included day one!

I think games like this will set a precedent on how we view games on what to believe. Honestly, this has to be the saddest example, though I was rooting for this game.

I'm glad i didn't grew up in the old days of gaming. I'm 20 and currently discovered the gems on snes and ps1, have to say i completely get where gaming boomers are coming from, the best games i played last year where crono trigger, Suikoden 2 and wild arms 2 and i enjoyed them more than anything on Ps4 or Xbox one. Makes me wonder the stuff now just sucks so hard.

You probably can't see it but my profile-pic is of my 'V' hangin' out (not like that though that was a glitch) with Takamura and Saul. Saul is with me because my game glitched on a rescue mission and he's just a companion now! I bought 'Zeitgeist 2020' on release day- played 70 hours and haven't completed it...and probably won't. I'm very disappointed, even more with the people claiming that the game experience is adequate let alone good! I mean San Andreas was a better representation of: "the most realistic game-world (to date)"- CDPR: lying S.o.S.C! (I'll let you make-up your own acronym for that).

I agree to an extent. Realistic games have their place and I’d argue that rdr2 wouldn’t be as impactful if the world wasn’t so believable. I’m just annoyed that realistic games are really all we get now, that or cartoons. My personal favorite games are semi-realistic. Unrealistic but logical and consistent so I can suspend my disbelief. Games like Bioshock or Wolfenstein or FEAR. I miss those kinds of games

the games i played in 2020 werent 2020 games ... i just continued playing Monster Hunter World, and I finally bought a switch and got to play Breath of the Wild. 2020 sucked ass for gaming.

RE3R actually isn’t a bad game at all. I just beat it yesterday, get it on sale on Fanatical for $17, totally worth it. Just don’t expect it to be nearly as scary or suspenseful as RE2R.
hades and risk of rain 2 were 2 great rougelikes that got full releases in 2020 and theyre some of my favorites from last year. doom eternal was probably my favorite big AAA game last year, but i didnt buy any other AAA games either. bannerlord came out in early access last year too, but i havet played much of it though.

Yeah that's unfair, people like him just speads hate among this and other games. I am sure most of people who hate tlou2 so much didn't even played it. Tlou 1 and 2 are masterpieces imo. I recomend to play it or if you don't have the opportunity try tv series, so far ep1 was so good.
My worst will be definitely Cyberpunk 2077 and TLOU Part 2. Its seems all this " Corporate" game developer no longer produce a game that put gaming as passion, it just pure make more money. They just focus and getting better on visuals, BUT the story, interactions and pure excitement for the love of gaming no longer the main agenda...
I feel like the last few years have all been my worst year for gaming. Unless something drastically changes in the industry I don't see it getting any better. Looking at how many awards and golden dildos Last of Us 2 was showered with pretty kills any hope I had it would get any better.

1.FFVII Remake (boycotted) my 2nd favorite game of time since childhood my first RPG. They're chopping the game up in parts to sell at full price each which is anti consumer and disgusting part 1 is only 10% of the original game. Even worse they lied it's not a Remake it's an Alternate Timeline because I guess Nomura thought the original beloved story line wasn't good enough so he'd fix it with his B.S. fuck Nomura great character designer hack of a Director.
2.RE3R (bought) a childhood favorite of mine my personal favorite of the 5th Gen RE games I can't say much cause you said it. Idiots removed so much content from the OG it's insulting press F to pay respects to the Grave Digger.
3.TLOUPII (boycotted) I liked the 1st but I didn't love it, I've had a shaky relationship with Naughty Dog since they ended Jak & started Uncharted cinematic presentation over gameplay . When I saw the leaks I laughed. I'm still laughing at this trash.
I've never played a CDPR game so no expectations for Cyberjunk 2077 I'm still laughing at this one too at least the memes are legendary. Only 2020 releases I enjoyed were Ghost & Crash 4 2020 was shit. A ton of games should have been delayed. Not very hopeful for 2021 either.
I boycotted FFVII Remake too. I'm done with Square Enix. Only game I'm buying from them is the mainline Dragon Quest games.
I also boycotted TLOU2. I saw the story leaks and I laughed at how god awful the story was. Naughty dog is dead to me and its sad because I enjoyed TLOU multiplayer.

I bought a RTX 3080 and a pretty crazy gaming PC... and now theres literally no good games because Cyberpunk was like 20 hours of fun. RIP. Now I cant sell my PC for anything near what I spent and theres no good games on the horizon.
There's always great old games. Thief trilogy, classic Valve/Blizzard games, Crysis, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Planescape: Torment, and many others exclusive to PC. There's also Console emulation and a massive catalogue of Indie titles (though quality is highly variable, you're bound to find something you like). I'm sure you can find a few reasons to keep a PC that powerful.
The best thing is to find some new multiplayer games to play with your friends. That's what I aim to do. My toaster can't run some of the games we want to play together.

What's your thoughts on Witcher 3, Synthetic Man? I've been trying to get into it because everyone spergs out about how amazing it is, and it's really disappointing so far. As another gaming purist, the combat is just sooo bad IMO.
The combat is without a doubt the worst part of the game. I pushed through it for the story, and didn't regret it, but I'm not sure I would rank it up there with Fallout New Vegas or Mass Effect 2 as "Greatest Western RPG" or something like that. I couldn't help but think they should've just ripped off Souls combat.

The Witcher 3 is dull. It just is.
It doesn't help that the advertised best part, i.e. narrative, is exceedingly depressing with a story filled with miserable people & locations, with quests involving wife beating, alcoholism, suicide & other such edgy shit which makes teenagers feel like adults when they're playing the game.
Nothing wrong with a late 2020 terrible list video. They're usually my favorite to watch.
I think long videos are still better for special occasions like Cyberpunk or Last of Us 2, but 10-15 is good for these kinds of videos

I've been playing a lot of good games recently, that aren't from 2020 - Don't Starve Together, Stardew Valley, Starbound, revisited Portal and Portal 2. That said I also played several AAA games from 2020 that completely put me off, couple of which you've listed in this video. I guess I'm going to wait for your future thoughts about upcoming releases before preordering any more crap.
Great video man I agree 100%. I've played a few games this year, mostly red dead redemption 2, even though its from 2018, it didn't come out on PC until November of 2019 so I bought it right then and there and didn't really stop playing it until about maybe April or may of 2020. Played a few other games, AC valhalla (which I thought was pretty good for the first 20 hours or so, then got really bored of it), cyberpunk (meh), a few of the COD remasters as well as Black ops Cold war and modern warfare 2019 (had an okay time with those honeslty), and thats really it honeslty. I started a new game of RDR2 the other night and thats good except when I tried to play it today im getting another error that won't let me start the game (which I've had alot of in the beginning).

I don't think I'll be anticipating any games for a while, sadly. Cyberpunk dealt another permanent blow to my hype meter, one I haven't felt since Fallout 4. Though I am interested in Resident Evil 8. This probably doesn't count but I am a little excited for the last Binding of Isaac expansion. Anything else I'll have to see more in-depth trailers for, with a release date within 3 months. Long term hype is just not worth it.

You should wait with Re8, Capcom did awful things with RE7 back in 2017 by cutting parts of the game and selling them like "dlc"... just a few weeks after its release and that game without dlc's should have had a price of $30 or $35. If you want to play wisely, wait a few monts after the realease of RE8 and buy it at a lower price or even better (because I have no doubt Capcom is going to make it) wait for the Gold Edition, that is always the best option and is like the Full Resident Evil game, not a cropped version that capcom made to earn more money.
About RE3 reboot, I think that game is better at a price of $20 or $25 but if you really can't wait, buy it at $30

Resident Evil 3 could have so much better if they didn't cut half of the content from the original. The Resident Evil 1 remake is one of the best remakes ever cause they didn't cut anything out, they added to it instead, something the Resident Evil 3 remake should have done but didn't.
It is ironic that when we have the appropriate technology and softwares, there are hardly any good games, but when graphics were not so advanced, games were better.
As long as these cartoonish or mass games are common, there is barely hope.

My game for 2020 was just playing the stock market. Been pretty burned out with how many shit releases there have been so far. I did pickup Cyberpunk but it felt like just a shittier hyped up grand theft future. Hopefully 2021 is a better year. I'm waiting for the devs at Larian to finish Baldur's Gate 3.

I like this game a lot I enjoyed combat, the relationship of the two characters Eivor and Sigurd. Throughly enjoyed it. And I agree with a lot of the criticism I wish the elements of this game since Norse Mythology was involved might’ve felt more grand but I liked what it was. Maybe that’s just me

You definitely have to question a lot of prominent TH-camrs that tried to sell Cyberpunk with the reviews they made.
Especially when people like Skillup and others apparently played the game roughly 6 months before release and still hyped it up. Either CDPR lied and gave them something totally different than the real game (which doesn't make sense), or they lied about the game to generate more hype.
I think it was Dreamcastguy that played it on console before patches released and almost gave it a perfect score. Cyberpunk's release really exposed a lot of people, IMO.

I only played four 2020 release titles and all of them were pretty good. Hades is the clear best, Deep rock galactic is fun, Granblue fantasy versus is pretty good, even though its super overpriced, and Daemon X Machina turned out being much better than I was expecting. Would recommend each of them, except maybe GBFV unless youre fine with spending too much.
Hades was awesome, I supported that game from early Alpha and watching it grow and how much content the devs put in and seeing how they listened to fans was really good, one of the gems of last year.
I'm currently playing Yakuza Like a Dragon and despite never getting into the Yakuza series before I am really enjoying it.

i thought origins was great, been playing since the original, but i enjoyed odyssey for the exploration and the world, since i love ancient history and my mothers side is part greek. but if it didnt capture my interest, idve been burned out by its systems and shit real quick.

@@abovethelaw4417 Last of Us 1 story is better than Last of Us 2 and Uncharted 4 is better than Last of Us 2. The jeep and truck chase was 100 times better than anything in Last of Us 2. Crazy, over the top and pure FUN. I just wish Unch 4 had more moments like that but that chase was brilliant.

Triple A games really shat the bed this year. Even Doom eternal which I loved and finished on release, i somehow got really bad aftertaste some weeks after the release. It got bloated with shitty story, the shittiest multiplayer, and some personal things like new art direction, level design, and lack of good updates (master levels).
Honestly the best game is CoD Warzone. I spent ZERO dollars and had dozens of hours playing solo and with friends/family. This was my first CoD since 2009 as well. Crazy to say this after shitting on this franchise non stop.

ghosts of Tsushima so heralded by millions as one of the most beautiful games with some of the most beautiful aesthetics, gameplay, and story out there
Yakuza 7 is from an already top tier series and is highly acclaimed for taking innovative risks and making the series millions of people more popular
helltaker is free and was a cult hit on release
Xenoblade has been one of Nintendo’s best successes in story for around a decade and this is literally just a better version of that widely loved title (not even a modern game, you clearly know so little of what you’re talking about it’s hilarious lol)
death stranding is a divisive yet fascinating game with brilliant concepts from one of the most well known creators in the industry
dmc5 is known as one of the best games of all time due to impeccable gameplay and surprisingly good story making the best game in the series and possibly the entire genre of games it’s in
crash bandicoot 4 is loved for bringing a classic series back in the same great fashion it had so long ago
miles morales is a sequel to one of the best games Sony still has exclusive and one of the best Spider-Man stories to date (up there with spiderverse for best Spider-Man movie-type experience)
doom eternal is one of the most acclaimed games in years for impeccable soundtrack, combat, and vision that is absolutely fulfilled in a way that almost got it game of the year (along with ghosts, hades, and tlou 2)
and risk of rain 2 is one of the most beloved indie games of all time with a community around it that is more active than many other triple a releases

Who the hell cares about AssCreed? Animal Crossing died this year and went to DRM Minecraft moba hell where it's beloved by casuals who never even played the earlier titles. It's more fun to write down ideas for a fan made sequel for the original players than it is to play New Horizons. Who wants to use a shrunken map (consider Main Street's absence) with a population cap of 10 to grind crafting materials every day next to villagers who complain if you talk to them more than once per day? We're not even allowed to share patterns anymore unless they get run through Nintendo's paid online censored trash where they banned someone for "racism" because they replicated a record cover with a black silhouette of a person in front of a California sunset. We're not even allowed to have multiple towns by buying more copies of the game. According to Nintendo's ULA, we're technically not allowed to have multiple towns at all. I used to be extremely active in the Animal Crossing scene and NH is depressing.

It's a topic that if I go into too much detail I will likely get into trouble with youtube, but I think Last of Us Part 2 is a good example of the extreme end. Every main character is "diverse" in some way: Two lesbians (one Jewish and pregnant), an asian man (who dies), a roided out she-beast, 1 old white guy who is supposed to represent the corruption of revenge (Joel's brother), a literal transwoman in an apocalypse (lol), and I think you get the point. This is very intentional, Neil Druckmann is, uh, a very special person.

2020 has been very very very disappointing. especially the second half of 2020 where the coronavirus impacted games in their final bugfix stages, dont even get me started on 2021 games i dont even have any hope. since i first got my console i have not experienced as many crashes as i have in the past few months
