The hard part to this is making the connection to the wifi card itself. It would have been helpful to see it done.
the tiny little cables are just push on, not really much to see there
@@mikesunboxing you literally said it's tricky and took it out of the video
Literally the part i came here for. Not helpful at all
That is specifically what I am trying to find.
@@mikesunboxing Rubbish. It is tiny, fiddly, very difficult to do. I wanted to see how an expert does it and found nothing here. I have spent hours trying to attach these. Looks like I'm taking it to a shop tomorow.
Ha ha! Just what I needed:) My first build and I picked up the same motherboard as you so your recent videos exploring it have been great at demystifying many things. Many thanks!

@@mikesunboxing Nice one - thanks!
@Brian Babin Totally agree - had to get Kath to do ours...
Great video, Mike! Thanks for making it! So much detail!
You're very welcome!
Thanks for the great how-to, Mike! I do have to say... if I have the choice, I will buy one with wifi built-in. Just saves the pain of adding it. I usually get an PCIE wifi card, or a USB device if I need to add that functionality later. I have never used that M.2 wifi connector before. Great to know!
it is a lot easier to get one with it built in if possible, in the mainstream for US europe canada etc the option is largely left out but in the more developing nations where the manufacturer needs to cut costs as much as possible to reach the lower price points this type of modular system is a lot more popular
I took one of these out of my old Lenovo laptop so I could put an NVME drive in there. Yes I couldnt get wifi on my laptop anymore but it booted up in about 4 seconds flat :) Thanks for another informative video Mike, always appreciated :-)
Thanks for watching, Bob !
Need this guide for my b550 steel legend. Thanks man!!
Glad I could help!
Thank you very much for this video. I searched a lot about how to install a WiFi card, and this video was the most beautiful, so I benefited a lot from it. Thank you again from Morocco
Glad we could help. And love to Morocco :-)
@@mikesunboxing thank you
Nice helpful video. Thanks. It's now worthwhile to point out that Windows 11 supports all the Intel M.2 wifi cards. Also buyers need to be aware of the system interface, Wi-Fi(PCIe) BT(USB), or, CNVio. They look the same and both fit but there is no cross compatibility. The only difference between the 9260 that you used and the 9560 is the interface.
Really wish it showed how to connect the antennas. I’m not able to get it to snap on at all and moving the card. They just pop off.
thanks for the tutorial. Here in Brazil I didn't find any video on the subject.
You are welcome!
I was literally looking for this today.
Great timing! Hope it helped you
@@mikesunboxing it did thank you.
@@mikesunboxing hello, what if i don't connect antennas? i just don't have them, my pc is 12 cm from router tho
Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for.
Glad it was helpful!
I can never understand from a cost point why install a M.2 Wi-fi socket on the MB when it just must be about the same cost to just install the Wi-fi chip on the board. Great video, thanks Mike.
Good point, the chips themselves often require licensing of the technology so it does save the bill or materials and can reduce the price for developing markets
Very well put together review!! 😉😊😎😄
Thank you! 😁
Thank you very much, very good video, very informative and to the point. I had a funny problem! I bought one of these adapters, and it didn't come with any antennae for some reason. So I just stuck it in and thought it should work. It didn't, obviously, so I spent the longest time trying to figure out if my metal case was blocking the signal, troubleshooting the drivers and so on, until I just gave up. Now, a year after having this card uselessly sitting around in my PC, I finally figure out the problem haha.
Glad you figured our your problem :-)
Exactly what I was looking for thanks.
Glad we could help
Great video helped me understand 😊
Glad it helped!
Thank you for sharing good explanation. 👍👍👍👍
Goodness sake. I was about to purchase a Z490F motherboard cuz it has 3 M.2 supports. Little did i know one of which was a EKey. I had no idea what an EKey was and thank God i came across your video and hell did i just realize its just for the wifi! 😂😂😂
Glad I could help!
thx for sharing, very helpful video

Hey Mike, thanks for the video. I have a question, does ASrock B550m Pro4 come with m.2 screws for WiFi module? If not, can I use m.2 ssd screws for the WiFi card?
yes you can if they are not already included with the card itself
@@mikesunboxing thanks Mike.
Hi Mike I have the x570 of that board and have a ngff wifi card from Amazon, AX200 it comes up as, do you have any advice for better antennas?
as long as they have the sma type connection a decent antenna with a extra DB gain should improve things, i don't have any specific recommendations but there are a lot of options including direction antennas that will strengthen the signal when angled toward the router or access point
Thank you very much Mike for this how to. Very nice that the MOBO has the slot for it. Question: can a PCIe AX card run in AMD MOBO? in Aliexpress sellers say Intel only.
some of the cards are for the intel vpro system so they are Intel only but most if not all pcie or m.2 ax200 cards are not locked to either intel or amd
bought this same motherboard based on your recommendation! Will this work with an AMD CPU? Also, would the antennas get in the way of the hdmi's coming out of the GPU, or could you face the antennas downward?
totally fine and yes you can move the aerial so it is out the way
Very good and informative.
Will that wires( in case of z490 asrock steel legend) spoil look of motherboard.
yes if you can't tuck them away somewhere
My literal motherboard and wifi card 😂 thanks
Glad to help :-)
Mike, how do you feel this performs vs a Wifi PCIE wireless card? Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
same to you James! To be honest i am waiting on some parts to do a build before i can really test it
Awesome Mike! Thank you; look forward to further content on the subject down the road.

Quick question, I've been looking online, and I'm confused about whether you actually get the antenna with the part, lots of reviews say it ships without
Sorry to bump up this old thread, but I notice you are using an AMD board, I heard that several Intel cards don't work with AMD? It's mostly the M.2 vPro wlan cards that need an Intel CPU?
Did it work well, in this setup? Thanks!
yeah it worked fine, not sure what is going on there?
I have a ASRock B550M-C motherboard and it has built in Intel AC 3168 module but seems to be hidden within the I/O panel. Cyber power pc nor ASRock seem to show how to remove it. The manual for the motherboard shows it has the M2_Wifi_2 but not visible on motherboard. Any ideas on how to remove the I/O back panel and replace the wifi module? There is also no wires visible from antennas to the module.

Hello Mike, nice video tks for that. I have a question about de the Bluetooth connection. I have tuf b550 plus motherboard and would like to install M2 wifi card with Bluetooth this just work or I need something more for the Bluetooth connection like a USB cable for power connection ? Like pci e cards. A lot of thanks from Brazil!
think this one was self powered but it was a long time ago.
Did your M.2 wifi card come with the antennas? Or are those sold separately? Thanks.
Another question. I see you have an AMD CPU motherboard. Is that correct? I've been reading that the Intel AC9260 isn't compatible with AMD CPUs, any truth to that (assuming you might have tried)?
they came with it
doesn't appear to be any issues with it
I have a z370 hd3p MB and was wondering what wifi board I need. I pulled the M.2 from another MB but this Z370 doesn't seem to have the slot for it. Am I correct? If that is true what type of WiFi card should I be getting? Thanks a lot
you will need a PCIe card for that motherboard not a m.2
The card to be installed is M.2 WiFi type key-e, but I see you installed type key-e-a. Will that support type key-e-a in type key-e?
as far as i know it is type E only and i thought that what i was using?
i'm having some trouble finding the right size of the sma connectors (specifically the ones you connect directly to the card itself)
Specify please?
they are called RP SMA i believe not sure the exact size maybe 4mm? www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143675905192?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&itemid=143675905192&targetid=1140163972489&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=1006567&poi=&campaignid=12125451326&mkgroupid=117045675099&rlsatarget=aud-629407027425:pla-1140163972489&abcId=9300480&merchantid=231854122&gclid=Cj0KCQiAnKeCBhDPARIsAFDTLTJOnqSCP_aRbLI3ZvxIRrJRrrZ4Pve6R78PJfXuJ86j4PBsga7RFuAaArALEALw_wcB
Thank you for this video. I was researching if this Intel AC 9260 can replace the Intel 8265 that came with my NUC Hades. That Intel AC 8265 seems to disconnect frequently and the machine is just under 2 years old. Ive tried updating drivers etc & no improvement. Again thank you for the video.

I'm installing one of these in a new pc build, but one of the mini sma connectors will not snap onto the card. Should I try superglue, solder, tape?
just try checking the connection is not bent or misformed
I have a Asus ROG Z490-A with a M.2 Wifi, but nto sure if your card is for this MB as well, I also found a M.2 WiFI 6 card on amazon with mimo 2x2 and miracast - Model AX200NGW , did you tested this one?

Great Video, Mike. Trying to help my Grandson out here. Will this work with MB MSI Z170A PRO?
No sorry it doesn’t have the right slot
You need a pcie or usb one
@@mikesunboxing Thankyou, Sir for the prompt reply. Great channel, very helpful info.
Hi mike, i wanted to know does the antenna matters for good Bluetooth and wifi range, because the current ones I have seems a bit laggy when connect to any of my Bluetooth audio devices, I don't know if wifi card or antenna is at fault here. I know its been three years since the video is out and probably you wont see this message, but I would be extremely thankful if you reply.
the antenna is quite important and more so with the faster bluetooth specs. ideally a front mounted usb bluetooth is preferable for signal strength and not having lag.
@@mikesunboxing so i already have a wifi 6e + bluetooth 5.2 m.2 card and 2 antennas I bought seperately from Amazon they look basic, all my bluetooth audio devices lags sometimes, so should I buy new antennas? Does antennas differ in quality or are all the same.
Do you need to get the antenna separately? Lots of reviews say it didn't come included
there are a few buying options so make sure you buy the kit with all the bits you need

I noticed my MSI b360m gaming plus doesn't have the m.2 e key on it but I wanted the intel wifi 6 gig+ is there some sort of adapter that I can use? if there is would it still work for what I need it for? otherwise would the tp-link archer t4e be a good choice for that price range ($50aud)?
you might be better off using a pcie card instead

I always wondered why on the card itself the main cable is marked with number 2 while the AUX cable is on position 1. Any idea why that is?
Not sure sorry
What are the benefits of the m.2 format over pcie wifi card or adapter of similar speeds?
no real benefit other than if you have spare m.2 or pcie slots
I want to build a new pc and motherboard I am looking forward to buy has m.2 key E slot but it has no space or brackets for routing the antennas out of the case, how can I solve this?
that is often a problem. you can get the same m.2 card as a kit with the antenna and a pcie bracket for the rear of the case like a gpu or accessory card
Hey there. I hope you can help me out. I bought the AX200 card and installed it on my AsRock B550 PRO4. I got the Wifi working without the antenna since the wifi card I bought didn't came with one but my issue is the bluetooth. I can install the drivers but it seems to not function normally at all. Bluetooth cannot find any devices nor can it connect to one that is already saved on its list back when I was using a USB bluetooth adapter. Would you happen to know a solution to my issue? Some of the solutions online that I see is getting a PCIE m.2 slot that has a supposed connector to a USB header for the bluetooth but I can't use that since my GPU's thickness is covering the PCIE x1 slot. Would getting just the antenna resolve my issue or do I need to change the card itself?

Question tho do i need to remove m.2 card or could i have both? im upgrading since i got a bad realtek card that causes connection issues. seems wierd to me that the motherboard has both options but maybe thats normal?
you can leave both in there, the m.2 card has pre allocated resources so it should be fine to leave it in

Hey my motherboard doesn't really have a m.2 wifi. So can i buy a m.2 key m to key e adapter and connect the m.2 wifi. If so can you recommend a adapter that you know. I'm having a hard time finding a adapter . Thank you
that is sometimes an option but due to electrical terminations and potential issues i would really advise against it, what board do you have i might be able to offer some alternative.

no you want the pcie card version not the m.2
an what if no wifi port, can the adaptors work ? can you use the 2nd m.2 port with an a to e adaptor or similar ? while using the other m.2 for a ssd
yes there are adapters on the market for e type cards
Are there any benefits of a M.2. wifi to a PCIe wifi card. Or is it just a matter of choice
no real benefits that would make you buy one over the other, except if you have the slot on your board it makes sense to use it to keep the other slots free
Would this work for my Asrock B450 Steel Legend? My gpu is mounted vertically and the cable blocks off all of my PCIE slots so I was hoping this could solve my issue
no sorry that board doesn't have the m.2 e type slot to use it

some of these kits come with a pice blanking plate that can be used, if not use one of your own and drill out two holes for the antenna to mount

I'm looking into these for the bluetooth function only really.
figured the antennas would give it a big boost, but I'm reading the Bluetooth actually uses USB though the M.2.
So does this mean the antennas are only used for Wifi & that Bluetooth needs to get the signal on the chip (needing to go through the metal case)?
Would it mean that simply getting a bluetooth usb stick would give better signal?

no sorry wrong type of m.2
I have an amd set up. asrock x470 taichi. Know of any m.2 cards that work for my board?
that has wifi and bluetooth built in?
Does asus b550- A gaming mother board have one of these?
no it doesn't sorry, you will need a PCIe or USB one
So my tech store did a case swap for me and ended up not having wifi or bluetooth after. They re added the antenna which fixed the wifi but still saying bluetooth card not installed even though it is
did they plug the wifi cards usb header back in?
@@mikesunboxing usb header? Like i said they got the wifi working but NO bluetooth now. Says card isnt there but it definitely is. Had them take it out, put back in. The odd thing is on the green card(bluetooth adapter) there is like a black slot which looks like a plug. So we actually found the plug from my old case but the guy said there was no where to plug it into? I said its gotta be on the board right? He said he wasn't sure and didn't want to short anything. SUPER weird. So there is somewhere that plug goes? lol The tech was just confused like me cause the card was definitely in and the wifi working. So the guy was like why would it need another plug if its already slotted in the board? ANY help would be awesome.

Does it support B450M Pro-M2 MAX motherboard?? I’m pretty sure it does but not 100% sure
yes it will
How do I know which wire is aux and which is main?
usually colour coded but either way is fine
I have a msi z490 a pro and what m.2 or pcie do i need?
i would use a PCIe card you don't have a compatible m.2 slot for wifi only storage
I have an Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 card, but my Wi-Fi works and the Bluetooth doesn't. My friend fixed it once but whatever he did won't work anymore. I have tried updating the driver and nothing happened, so I uninstalled it and it wont reinstall and now I can't even see Bluetooth in my device manager. Do you know what I should try that you think I haven't tried already?
Look for hidden device in device manager and delete it then reboot
When I select hidden devices, Bluetooth does not appear. Anything else I should try? I'm thinking about just buying a Bluetooth USB adapter at this point and seeing if that will work.
