Great video as always! I tried to get to Chasm Lake the very next day and was one of the unfortunate people to slide down the first snow slope! My friend and I were doing the Granite Pass/Storm Pass loop, so we had 30 lb bags which didn't help. Several unprepared day hikers were doing it as well, so our sense of safety was dulled a bit. Here is the clip of my fall: th-cam.com/video/b8duoRYMZTU/w-d-xo.html

Maaan.. I was getting nervous watching that before you went down. I went down Isabelle Glacier and it was brutal. You hit those rocks hard! But damn.. amazing camera work all the way down.

@@nicksangetta8874 Thanks! I had my GoPro attached to my trekking pole. I had forgotten I hit record until I got up and composed myself. The only injury I had was a broken fingernail (I’m a classical guitarist) 😄 Hopefully this video serves your point about wearing spikes and not taking the snow lightly!

I am well past my hiking days, but 25 years ago RMNP was my annual go-to escape, and this very hike was my absolute favorite. I hiked it maybe four times, always after Labor Day, when the crowds were vastly thinned out, shop and pub keepers were happy at the break in their action, and I was the happiest of all, doing this hike and others like but never quite as good. Your visuals and your narration of the hike were perfect, and it transported me back in time. Thank you.

My dad died on Christmas 2018. My dad wanted his ashes taken to Chasem Lake so My Uncle Scott took my dad's ashes and put it into Chasem Lake as his final resting place. He loved hiking this trail. I hiked up this trail with my dad many years ago. Rest in peace Christopher lampman/dad.

Thanks for doing these videos! My wife and I are from MO and don't get to RMNP often. Your videos have really inspired my wife and I to begin hiking the trails in our area. We do at least one hike a week. We've also started working out and eating better so we can go on longer hikes. Since March, I've lost over 50 pounds! So, thanks for everything!

Trick & Treat: the trick is to get up in early AM (ugh!) & start in the dark from the Ranger Stations. The treat is to get to Chasm Lake just before sunrise on a clear day and watch the sunrise ( alpine glow) reflected off the diamond face of Longs.

I was there last week. Left spikes and poles in the car, dang! then jumped over the rocks to avoid the snow banks. On the way back the snow was not so slippery and kept my weight on the boots on the inside of the mountain not to slip down. Cooled my feet in the lake(water 34F). Didn't have power to climb Meekes thru the Iron gates. Amazing video, thanks.
