With the newest episode, the clip where Octavia is crying, and Stolas is trying to explain to her WHY he and Stella fought all the time has a LOT more context and insight And it hurts even more knowing that Octavia more than likely heard the fights they got into, despite how hard Stolas tried to have a normal life for her. You can genuinely see just how much he truly cares about Octavia and how he wants to be there for her despite the reason she was brought into this world. I truly think the divorce with Stella would be beneficial to both Octavia AND Stolas
It truly helps to understand his character more. I get people blamed him for ruining the marriage before the last episode, but with what we have seen it's clear that the marriage was damned from the get go. The affair with Blitz was so inconsequential in their relationship that even Stolas says he knows he did not hurt Stella by doing so.

I partially get that, since we have seen that Blitz, Stolas and many others have different layers on their characters that made their conflicts more interesting, so having a typical straightforward "bad bitch" character seems a bit strange. I don't mind it tho, it doesn't hurt to have a "jerk" character just for the sake of being a jerk every now and then.

The line where she said that she remembers a time where her parents didn't hate each other shows the lengths Stolas went to in order the sheer animosity and abuse from Stella. He's awkward yes, but an amazing father.
Or the writers just forgot and made Stella a one dimensional villain instead of a woman who hurt by their partner's unfaithfulness. They decided to simplify the relationship by making her abuse him from the beginning.

The marriage may well have been amicable at first. Never love, sure, but they'd have been strangers getting to know each other at the start, Octavia probably came onto the scene pretty quickly and been cause for familial happiness for a while. Resentment takes time to fester. I assume they married young - maybe Stolas hadn't fully explored his sexuality yet, and had hoped he could grow to love Stella in time. Maybe Stella similarly hoped she could grow to love and be a happy family with Stolas and found her expectations unmet (the party scene where she talks about him being disinterested in sex with her is her trying to humiliate him, but I sense in it the sting of rejection that would have been quite painful to her when she was young and the relationship was new). I'm not defending her - I imagine she was always a difficult and high maintenance person to be around, and her abusive behaviors are unforgivable, but I also think how she is was a gradual progression of building resentment over the life she has vs what she might've been promised when she was betrothed.

Watching this from the S2 Ep 1, Stolas is such a good father compared to his father. He actually cares about his daughter and tries to make her happy which I say is a win in the father book.
It's even more heartbreaking when you realize that she blames Stolas for breaking their family. And this not the case. We don't know Stella and Octavia relation, but with what know about Stella. I wouldn't be supprised if she just fed up Octavia with lies like "Stolas don't care about us, he just want this family to be over". And we see that Octavia still have her caring father she had when she was little. Stolas still cares about her, isn't scared of showing emotion (because you know. He's royalty so he should show strength and power, not weaknesses). She have stars on her clothes, her room is filled with astrology symbols and stuff. And preview on next episodes showed that she have stolen Stolas book from Blitz so maybe she even know how to use it. And get the answers about her family. So next episode may be about Blitz, but we will probably have one when Octavia will have to confront both Stolas and Stella - choose which one she want to be with. And Stolas clearly won this round, if he would go like he did in EP6 on Stella... Oh boi, I don't think she even have a chance against furious father. When we grow up many things are not as beautiful as they was when we were children.

With S2E1 now having aired, that moment where Stolas tries to explain to his daughter how it could potentially be Stella’s fault of these two falling apart takes on such a deeper meaning now, he REALLY wished for it to work but Setlla just systematically destroyed it so that it’s ALWAYS Stolas’s fault, sure he did got it on with Blitz but come on, if Stolas was giving the same liberty growing up as Octavia has than he’d never had this uncomfortable talk with his child, I’m definitely sure baby Stolas would grow up with tons of friends and finds that one, none toxic girl that if his family is lucky is indeed part of this family but yeah, that’s rough buddy
Anyone notice how stolas physically went to the event with her? Unlike his father. He didn't arrange a marriage with Via, unlike his dad. He also had the same reaction that his dad did when they did their tricks. I thought that part was cute.
But I praise Stolas for not throwing Stella under the bus. He had ample opportunity to do so, but he can't do the same things Stella does because he has a heart. He loves his daughter and doesn't want to ruin the image/relationship Via has with her mother. He has done everything in his power to make the relationship "work" always for Via's sake.
He dealt with that shitty relationship for 17 years according to the latest episode. He fucked up that one night and that was it. He must have felt so alone, but his love for Octavia kept him going. As bad as it was i can't blame him since thats a lot to ask for anyone with the abuse he has been dealing with.
You gotta give Stolas credit for actually putting in effort. From doing so for his arranged marriage with his now ex-wife to bonding with his daughter who he genuinely loves and who he never sees as a necessity.
Stolas only shows his pupils when he feels intense emotion. The scene where he shows his pupils to protect Octavia really does show how much of a good dad he is

With this new season starting out with mostly a flashback, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they work in some sort of "Slice of the Goetia family life" episode into the mix somewhere.
Octavia really was the only good thing that came from his relationship with Stella. He endured 17 years of abuse from his bitch of a wife so that their daughter could have a happy childhood.
And being gay only to be forced to lay with a woman purely to sire a child. I really feel for him. With the new season we see even from a child Stella was not a nice woman.

I really like how he tries to explain his situation but stops himself realizing that what he would say would hurt Octavia because Stella is also her mother and he doesn't wanna paint her in a negative light to her. Though Octavia is almost an adult she's still a child in a vulnerable position and I love that he has that in mind when he interacts with her.
Fr, he's such a an amazing person. Stolas be doing everything in his will to make those around him happy but in this world, the hard work of a man is never enough, sorry stolas😔😔😔
@@Spectresss A majority of Loo Loo Land was just an excuse to hang out with Blitzo. Not to mention, he didn't take into account his daughter's feelings regarding their family situation. He made it about him, and not her. Now to be fair, he still actively tries to be a part of her life, and once he gets off his high horse and actually listens to her, he does become a shoulder to cry on. Stolas has made a lot of mistakes both as a husband and a father. And those mistakes can't be overlooked. But he is truly trying to fix it, at least with Octavia.

after the recent episode, i kinda loved that he followed after his father who brought him here when he was upset, but stolas found blitzo, something he cares for until this day, so he must have assumed he could do the same for octavia which is great
After watching Season 2 Episode 1, I feel like Stolas is the must humane character here, even though he's a prince in hell. The songs are so emotional whenever he appeare, the voice actor really nailed the character pretty spot on.
The moment where Stolas carries Octavia through the burning fairground is oddly wholesome. She's aware the place is burning down but she doesn't care, she just enjoys being carried by her father.

It's actually pretty amazing how sweet and attentive he is as a dad when we know how his own dad treated him. Don't get me wrong, he can kinda gloss over what she says sometimes to try and get her to put on a happy face, but even then, he later recognizes that as wrong and makes up with her by trying to be honest with her about his own feelings and the more complicated aspects of being a member of the royal family.

Stolas never wanted the marriage or the child, but he still was a good father to her. Through all this time, he was being abused by Stella, trapped in a loveless abusive marriage, but he still tried to give Octavia a happy childhood.
I love Stolas and Octavia's relationship. the part where he /carries/ her out of the parks sparks a thought in me that I miss. neither of my parents can pick me up any more. I haven't been picked up by them since I was like 9 or something. and she's a teen being carried princess style and laughing while her dad tries to understand her weird interest. I'm jealous and honestly touched by the scene. even as the chaos around it makes me laugh. Does anyone else think of that when they see this scene or just me?

stolas is a great dad he cares soo deeply about his daughter and is trying his best to make her happy in the only ways he knows how and when it doesn't work he admits it and asks her what she wants and is willing to do it even if it doesn't appeal to him
Even though it’s been very subtle, we have gotten clues of just how Stella feels about Octavia (a.k.a. Her lack of caring): 1) in season one episode two, when baby Octavia is crying out for her parents because of her nightmare, Stolas turns to Stella, says that Via’s calling for them, and her only response is “you get up!” Granted, we don’t know if Stella ever did it before that night and was just tired, but the fact she didn’t say “you get up *this time”* kinda confirms how uninvolved she is with her own daughter. 2) When Stella was putting out the hit on Stolas in episode 5, she clearly didn’t care that Octavia was literally *right there* as she was telling someone to kill Stolas, showing she doesn’t care about Octavia’s feelings on the matter (Yes, I am aware she had her headphones in and didn’t hear the conversation, but the fact that Stella did it right at the dinner table shows that she wouldn’t have cared if Octavia heard it either way). And 3) during the “still not divorced” party in season two episode one, Stella was so blasé when talking about having a kid with Stolas and made it pretty clear she only had Octavia out of necessity (“at least one egg fell out of me so I don’t have to keep pretending that I want to f- his scrawny ass!”), she didn’t even say anything about Octavia herself like “at least I got Octavia out of the deal,” or “at least *one* good thing came out of this otherwise dreadful marriage!” Like I said, it’s very subtle, but based on those three minor clues alone, we can pretty much tell that Stella doesn’t care much (if at all) for Octavia. We’ll have to see how she treats her in later episodes to know for sure, but for now we can determine that Stolas is *definitely* the better parent.
It probably doesnt help that octavia is basically a female Stolas in terms of apperance. A lot of times a parent can start hating their kid if they look too much like their spouse. You end up getting having a kid hearing a very disgusted angry delivery of "You're just like them" Add on that Octavia as far as we know doesn't seem to take her status too seriously its just another of Stolas' negative traits that Stella would end up seeing in her. I wouldn't be suprised if Stella spends whatever time she does with Octavia dragging Stolas' name through the mud and Insulting her for all the ways she acts like him, in an attempt to get her to both turn on him and act more like her so she can double down on torturing Stolas. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Stella would go full narcissistic and try to literally turn Octavia into a mini her suggesting bleached feathers and a similar fashion sense If she hasn't already
Another clue you can see around 0:15 of this video, Octavia has a drawing of her and her dad that she's drawn pinned to the wall. You can also see around 0:12 a photo/painting of her and stolas having fun together. But there are no images of her and her mother at all.
After s2 ep1 aired I went back to the episode and found when stolas picked up via and left you could hear the melody from stolas’ song, I was shocked to hear it and surprised no one really talks about that

Or the writers just forgot and made Stella a one dimensional villain instead of a woman who hurt by their partner's unfaithfulness. They decided to simplify the relationship by making her abuse him from the beginning.
@@phillidaadamus4349 Stolas's infidelity may have been only with Blitzo. If things are being presented correctly. She was demasculinizing and terrorizing him for 17+ years. This doesn't excuse what he did but she seems to care more about her status rather than the well being of her spouse.
The marriage may well have been amicable at first. Never love, sure, but they'd have been strangers getting to know each other at the start, Octavia probably came onto the scene pretty quickly and been cause for familial happiness for a while. Resentment takes time to fester. I assume they married young - maybe Stolas hadn't fully explored his sexuality yet, and had hoped he could grow to love Stella in time. Maybe Stella similarly hoped she could grow to love and be a happy family with Stolas and found her expectations unmet (the party scene where she talks about him being disinterested in sex with her is her trying to humiliate him, but I sense in it the sting of rejection that would have been quite painful to her when she was young and the relationship was new). I'm not defending her - I imagine she was always a difficult and high maintenance person to be around, and her abusive behaviors are unforgivable, but I also think how she is was a gradual progression of building resentment over the life she has vs what she might've been promised when she was betrothed.

Watching this from the S2 Ep 1, Stolas is such a good father compared to his father. He actually cares about his daughter and tries to make her happy which I say is a win in the father book.
It's even more heartbreaking when you realize that she blames Stolas for breaking their family. And this not the case. We don't know Stella and Octavia relation, but with what know about Stella. I wouldn't be supprised if she just fed up Octavia with lies like "Stolas don't care about us, he just want this family to be over".
And we see that Octavia still have her caring father she had when she was little. Stolas still cares about her, isn't scared of showing emotion (because you know. He's royalty so he should show strength and power, not weaknesses). She have stars on her clothes, her room is filled with astrology symbols and stuff. And preview on next episodes showed that she have stolen Stolas book from Blitz so maybe she even know how to use it. And get the answers about her family. So next episode may be about Blitz, but we will probably have one when Octavia will have to confront both Stolas and Stella - choose which one she want to be with. And Stolas clearly won this round, if he would go like he did in EP6 on Stella... Oh boi, I don't think she even have a chance against furious father.

It was ALL Stella's fault. Stolas tried for Via's sake, Stella did not give a shit about anything but her reputation.
Anyone notice how stolas physically went to the event with her? Unlike his father. He didn't arrange a marriage with Via, unlike his dad. He also had the same reaction that his dad did when they did their tricks. I thought that part was cute.
But I praise Stolas for not throwing Stella under the bus. He had ample opportunity to do so, but he can't do the same things Stella does because he has a heart. He loves his daughter and doesn't want to ruin the image/relationship Via has with her mother. He has done everything in his power to make the relationship "work" always for Via's sake.
He dealt with that shitty relationship for 17 years according to the latest episode. He fucked up that one night and that was it. He must have felt so alone, but his love for Octavia kept him going. As bad as it was i can't blame him since thats a lot to ask for anyone with the abuse he has been dealing with.
You gotta give Stolas credit for actually putting in effort. From doing so for his arranged marriage with his now ex-wife to bonding with his daughter who he genuinely loves and who he never sees as a necessity.
Stolas only shows his pupils when he feels intense emotion. The scene where he shows his pupils to protect Octavia really does show how much of a good dad he is
The one thing that I love about Solas is he does not raise his child like he was raised. And he absolutely adores his child.

Octavia really was the only good thing that came from his relationship with Stella. He endured 17 years of abuse from his bitch of a wife so that their daughter could have a happy childhood.

I really like how he tries to explain his situation but stops himself realizing that what he would say would hurt Octavia because Stella is also her mother and he doesn't wanna paint her in a negative light to her. Though Octavia is almost an adult she's still a child in a vulnerable position and I love that he has that in mind when he interacts with her.

Now to be fair, he still actively tries to be a part of her life, and once he gets off his high horse and actually listens to her, he does become a shoulder to cry on. Stolas has made a lot of mistakes both as a husband and a father. And those mistakes can't be overlooked. But he is truly trying to fix it, at least with Octavia.

It's actually pretty amazing how sweet and attentive he is as a dad when we know how his own dad treated him. Don't get me wrong, he can kinda gloss over what she says sometimes to try and get her to put on a happy face, but even then, he later recognizes that as wrong and makes up with her by trying to be honest with her about his own feelings and the more complicated aspects of being a member of the royal family.

Even though he got stuck in a loveless marriage you can tell he really cares for his daughter
Even though it’s been very subtle, we have gotten clues of just how Stella feels about Octavia (a.k.a. Her lack of caring):
1) in season one episode two, when baby Octavia is crying out for her parents because of her nightmare, Stolas turns to Stella, says that Via’s calling for them, and her only response is “you get up!” Granted, we don’t know if Stella ever did it before that night and was just tired, but the fact she didn’t say “you get up *this time”* kinda confirms how uninvolved she is with her own daughter.
2) When Stella was putting out the hit on Stolas in episode 5, she clearly didn’t care that Octavia was literally *right there* as she was telling someone to kill Stolas, showing she doesn’t care about Octavia’s feelings on the matter (Yes, I am aware she had her headphones in and didn’t hear the conversation, but the fact that Stella did it right at the dinner table shows that she wouldn’t have cared if Octavia heard it either way).
And 3) during the “still not divorced” party in season two episode one, Stella was so blasé when talking about having a kid with Stolas and made it pretty clear she only had Octavia out of necessity (“at least one egg fell out of me so I don’t have to keep pretending that I want to f- his scrawny ass!”), she didn’t even say anything about Octavia herself like “at least I got Octavia out of the deal,” or “at least *one* good thing came out of this otherwise dreadful marriage!”
Like I said, it’s very subtle, but based on those three minor clues alone, we can pretty much tell that Stella doesn’t care much (if at all) for Octavia. We’ll have to see how she treats her in later episodes to know for sure, but for now we can determine that Stolas is *definitely* the better parent.
It probably doesnt help that octavia is basically a female Stolas in terms of apperance. A lot of times a parent can start hating their kid if they look too much like their spouse. You end up getting having a kid hearing a very disgusted angry delivery of "You're just like them" Add on that Octavia as far as we know doesn't seem to take her status too seriously its just another of Stolas' negative traits that Stella would end up seeing in her. I wouldn't be suprised if Stella spends whatever time she does with Octavia dragging Stolas' name through the mud and Insulting her for all the ways she acts like him, in an attempt to get her to both turn on him and act more like her so she can double down on torturing Stolas.
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Stella would go full narcissistic and try to literally turn Octavia into a mini her suggesting bleached feathers and a similar fashion sense If she hasn't already
Also we never see Octavia with Stella ever. They NEVER interact…Stella hasn’t even said Octavia’s name!
Another clue you can see around 0:15 of this video, Octavia has a drawing of her and her dad that she's drawn pinned to the wall. You can also see around 0:12 a photo/painting of her and stolas having fun together. But there are no images of her and her mother at all.
