Yeah I've never been a big fan of counterspells. But I do love seeing counterspell wars. I always think of my dnd games where the same thing happens lol
A lot of people think control is really annoying because "it doesn't let you resolve anything" but when you play a card and they say "its fine" is when you're really in trouble against control decks.
Can't (under)stand mana drain. Like what, counterspell but also I get mana? Why not make a UU counterspell, you get mana equal to the countered spell's cmc and you draw 3 cards, and you win the game
I believe Mana Drain was printed back when "mana burn" was still a mechanic. So, at the time, there was potential downside in the form of lost life if you didn't spend the Mana Drain mana. Without mana burn as a (small) check, Mana Drain is pretty ridiculous, no doubt.
@@TheeParthenon Yes, that is correct. Not to mention, this came out during the Legends set. I *can* totally buy that the same team that thought "yeah having to pay a bunch of colors of mana for a card and being legendary is *totally* upside you guys, let's make every single multicolored legendary card as clunky as possible to 'compensate'" also decided that a a 2 mana counterspell that also nets you mana was completely fair and balanced.
It's useless against the absurd number of game breaking 1 drops on the play, and the almost unlimited number of gamebreaking 1 and 2 drops on the draw. It's not even played in most blue vintage decks. When your opponent goes turn 1 Ragavan, Tamiyo, Ocelot, etc. or turn 2 Bowmasters, Psychic Frog, etc. *all* counterspells suck.
Most likely because he values the 6 mana over the extra attacker, since he wins the turn after from an attack with Ojutai + the opponent's one ring triggering.
he's about to draw 2 cards, the extra mana from letting mana drain go through could be useful but I see your angle since we do have a lot of mana anyway by that point
Not a fan of blue/white, but I do love dragons! This deck looks like a nightmare to play against, but I appreciate it nonetheless! You're the man, Luca 🔥🤘
Ojutai? he was one of my first rares I got.. I absolutly love him but I always thought he is more like a card for limited format than constructed. I AM GOING TO BUILD THIS COMMANDER
You forgot Sword of the Realms which is one of the better vigilance enablers! edit: Oh but it costs 4 in total to equip the sword. Cheaper ones in the deck list might be better although the sword gives a little bit of immunity to sweepers and edict effects.
Tale's End would cost 2 mana and a card to counter Otawara; or you could just replay the equipment and spend 3 mana to re-equip. You waste the attack step, which is equivalent to 5 damage and a card from Ojutai's trigger, but Tale's End is probably better than any of the cards you can find off the top 3 cards.
That makes sense, but there’s also the fact that he’d then be able to Temporal Manipulation and leverage the extra turn right away if the opponent didn’t have a counter, so it’d be more like 10 damage and 2 Ojutai triggers + the card drawn on the extra turn. Even if they countered the extra turn spell, they’d still have to find another way to deal with hexproofed vigilant Ojutai
Luca does 1 based orzhov aristocrat deck and has to make up for it by posting 3 boring decks right after. Crazy how these videos are still amazing when they feature the most concentrated cringe on earth.
It's not a competition. They both have their own video formats and playstyles. I'm sure they'd both agree it's better to help bring one or the other up, rather than compare them and bring one down. Do better.
Never thought I'd be entertained by two blue decks going against each other but those counterspells were pretty wild

Average Yugioh game be like:
lmao go watch cgb play blue in brawl if you enjoyed
17:46 Epic counterspell battle
Whata stack!
Took a full minute for the stack to begin to resolve. 18:46
10:36 I love that because there's no point in attacking, he does it anyway. (tone indicator: positive, wholesome)
Peolple should use tone indicators way more often online... The amount of missunderstandings that spiral out of Control would definitly go down! :)
omg lvd this is the first video of yours youtube is recommending to me in years, I missed you
rakdos player casting settle the wreckage is crazy work
Magic sadness, when your opponent just dies stopping you from taking extra turns, attacking in the air unopposed, and drawing more cards...
A lot of people think control is really annoying because "it doesn't let you resolve anything" but when you play a card and they say "its fine" is when you're really in trouble against control decks.
Or they don't have a clue about what you are doing and regret is later 😅
@amarauk9687 true, been there done that 😂

putting Mana Drain in your deck should automatically put you in the hell queue tbh
@@soybomb777 yea.
why they let blue have Mana Drain in Brawl, in addition to getting Cyclonic Rift, is truly a mystery to me.

18:52 instead of countering the swan song why not counter the original wrath so you could get the free bird?
Checks out!
I thought this for a second too, but the mana drain mana could be useful too. If swan song resolves, no free mana!
@@wirelessbaguette8997 That's a great reason which I didn't come upon! Mana drain is more than a counter indeed

That thumbnail is slaying
Dragonlord MC Hammer provides a lot of value

Pretty fun blue deck, quite rare but I’ve seen two from you so you’re pretty great at making them !
LVD continues his descent into his villain arc
If protecting Ojutai is a key goal, Slip Out The Back is a strong choice.
mana drain into swan song into counterspell into dovins veto into wash away. Madness
LegenVD is the only guy that could make me enjoy a BW control mirror xD
Black white control mirror?
@finna1002 i forgor that blue is written U so that's on me lol
@ lol I was confused though I should’ve known what you mesnt
I actually packed a fractured identity that is a textured foil and it’s beautiful
Old Tarkir chase mythic that has been power crept into oblivion. Secret sauce: Give it vigilance.
Kinda love it.
I've been enjoying Split Up as a selective sweeper. Not perfect but usually tempos the opponent enough to recover
More like legenvd is untouchable
Absolutely love to see Urza get demolished, even if its from another control deck xD
"The classic counterspell and the busted mana drain" lol
Ojutai? he was one of my first rares I got.. I absolutly love him but I always thought he is more like a card for limited format than constructed. I AM GOING TO BUILD THIS COMMANDER
As a gruul and Naya player I do not like counterspells but seeing a counterwar is always epic.

Ojutai is my favorite commander to play
11:30 why not Tale’s End to counter the Otawara channel? It’s an activated ability

Off topic question. do you have a "Rise of the Dark Realms" (Standard)Deck or even an video i havent found yet ? thanks in advance :)
I need a high power Urza, Lord High Artificer Brawl deck so bad
36:51 Last March into Final Showdown, in case it wasn't obvious enough that the game ends here! lol
Rainer bist du es? 😂😂😂😂
i just pulled this guy! show me
Holy fuck I hate azorius so much, I got frustrated by just watching the games lmao

Day 1 of commenting that LVD has better content than CGB 🤷🏽♂️
Its true
It's not a competition. They both have their own video formats and playstyles. I'm sure they'd both agree it's better to help bring one or the other up, rather than compare them and bring one down. Do better.
What a weird thing to do.
