Day 2 result of 693 ROCK SOLID calls , no drops, battery lasts a LONG time , OS is like 3x faster Night/Day vs 683 2x the RAM/Storage and a much faster CPU. Hard to believe it was made by same company. Out of pocket would be $39 vs $25 for the 683 so I suspect they are replacing defective phones with this one to fix things. Very impressed. Has already had 4 security updates.
Also the buttons are much larger and easier to activate. Feels much nicer in the hand.
Glad the one that came for me is a 693!

I"m supposed to be getting one of these, though it's on back order now. I got one UMX a few years ago and couldn't get back on my LG Aspire LN180 fast enough! The UMX was lousy! Very low (if any) sound on the speaker and I have hearing problems. Even if this one gets here, I'm still tempted to just stay with my LG Aspire. I've been on Assurance Wireless for 7 years and never gotten but a zero signal strength where I live and even drive around with it! For a city of over 115,000, that is ridiculous.
I got this phone after I messed up the charging port of my wiko u37 got it at no charge it's a good phone didn't have no problems with it first 3 weeks then one day i put it to charge and tried to turn it on once I woke up and the phone didn't want to turn on the red indicator light wouldn't show no more so it wouldn't charge at all I tried different chargers and nothing 😐 my fix was I holded power and volume down button factory reset it and it turned on. Turns out nothing is wrong with phone just it only charges with original charger which is charger model tpa-5950100UU When I got the phone I don't know where I left the original charger so I just grabbed a random charger I found around the house but that was my problem using random chargers instead of the one that came with it I'm go look for it it's somewhere around my house but you should enjoy it pretty good phone.
This phone is old compared to the phones I've seen people get from assurance wireless. A friend of mine got an samsung galaxy s10 a nice up to date phone. Plus you have to watch the battery on the unizmax, it get really hot.
Owned a couple of days.
1, I think the phone I received was pre owned. The battery was already inserted.
and the data usage dates back to Dec 12, I received the phone Jan 4th.
2, battery life thus far is very poor. Especially on stand by hardly lasts 12 hours.
3, looks nice should buy and carry extra battery with you other
you could be in trouble if really needed.
4, I may go back to my Kyocera.
5, my other is an iPhone ES first gen. 👍🏻

Just got this phone yesterday and wow what a difference compared to my previous Assurance phone that was an ANS ul40. Bigger, faster, more memory. I'm liking it. Only thing I don't like about it is having the lower 3 controls, back button, Etc on the very bottom outside of the lighted area. Makes it difficult to see in the dark and also personally because of that it's harder for me to hold with my arthritic hand and keep from changing the screen accidentally. Guess I'll have to look for some aftermarket thing to hold it with. One more thing, I read on the internet that there was some malware that could not be removed from some other UMX phones. Do you know if that's a concern with this phone too?

I have since gotten the ads off of the lock screen, theres a program you have to disable after going into developer mode, sounds hard but its pretty easy! Search up how to get rid of lock screen ads and sometimes the comments help too. Good luck!

It's screen IMO is a bit wonky when watching vids (tilted just right the picture is fine) but overall CPU is fast as shit and is basically a brick out of the box (for the droppers/spazzers/sweaty-handers) along with free data/texts/calls... who the hell am I to complain? -- to add, make sure to enable dev options and reset animation speed to 0 on all fronts
Can the Sim card removed and insert to a different phone?
If you have an assurance wireless sim card and an Unlocked Device You can Always try Inserting the sim Into The device But I think u will have to call the Assurance wireless company for The sim card to be in the new phone or a another phone for it to be used.
Interesting my mom has TruConnect and she put her sim card in her iPhone XR that my brother gave to her when inserting the sim card she never had to call TruConnect
It appears to be possible. When logged into assurance wireless my account go to the My Settings tab, from there you will see a column of options to the right. In that column you will see option "Change Phone". Click this option and a pop up screen to swap phones will appear. From there just enter the IMEI# of the phone you wish to use ( apparently service is locked to specific IMEI). Usually we can just pop out/pop in sims on unlocked devices but assurance seems sim lock to IMEI? I haven't swapped phones as of yet myself but am planning to do so maybe in a few months.

So does anyone know how to get the hotspot to work had this phone everything worked fine including the hot spot the only thing was my dad couldn't make a call due to all the damn pop ups called them got a new one sent and now no pop ups so far but can't for the life of me get the hot spot to work and have talked to everyone in their customer service and still nothing
Swipe down from the top of the screen and then swipe to the left and there should be a hotspot button. The hotspot still works on my phone on the Sprint sim, but they may have turned it off on the new T-mobile sims that they are sending out now.

I JUST got mine and now a little concerned...mine didn’t have a battery in the box. Hopefully it’s inside the phone already 🤷♀️ I came here to find out how to properly open the box and noticed videos show battery needing to be put in as well as the directions.

I am a senior. This is the most informative video EVER. I just recently got the assurance FREE wireless phone and I am beyond belief as to the lack of info on the phone. I have had 2 phones in less than 2 months. The first was UMX as is the second but although the outside is the same the inside is different. NOT to mention that I have no idea why now the camera does not take pictures in real life but only negative like pictures both on the camera and also on the news and google. I am really wondering if all the crap (apps) are on here to spy on you. They do not give you an option to opt off or out and I am stuck with having to download all kinds of crap i want no part of. I would be happy with only the text, phone and camera and of course contacts and forget about all the other 42 apps. Really, if you have any suggestions on what to do about the camera I am open. I think Assurance wireless should pay you for your time as there techs really don't cut it. Thank you again for your video from all us oldies but goodies that have no clue how to use these things.

The phone came with a complete lack of helpful info. I had to call on my landline to have a lady walk me through opening the phone to insert the battery!

That's the problem I had with it is all the pre-installed and non-removable apps that took up all the memory space rendering the data part of the phone almost useless. Along with the horrible display.

I just got the mix u693cl phone today. It's OKAY,I GUESS . I put all my apps on it, but I can't get the volume on the dang thing to work. It WILL NOT MAKE A SOUND. No, there's no dark mode, only night light, which makes the screen amber.

Yes, it works quite well. The screen is only 480p, so not very good for watching HD videos. The speaker is back-facing, so the sound isn't that good unless you have something to direct the sound towards you, like your hand.

When I first had cell service back in the beginning with sprint. I had terrible service.
Then I figured it out. It was the cheep phone I was using. Maybe $29.95.
But as soon as I got a better phone. Maybe $200. No more problems.
So sometimes the service is as good as your phone.
Think about it $39.95 vs $1000. How good could that $39.95 be?
Probably ok. Not saying you should pay $1000 but maybe a couple hundred.

You may be correct. My phone was free. It lacks info in setting it up, info on how to use it. I only get 1 or 1.5 bars because Sprint apparently does not really cover my Green Bay, Wisconsin area very well ( Can you say Green Bay Packers?) I can see a cell tower from my kitchen window - must not be Sprint.
None of the apps work because of the poor signal.

of home. Try by windows. A friend of mine phone calls would go straight to voicemail always
missing calls. I told he to leave phone by a window where you can get at least 3 bars.

This phone replaced my defective 683. 683 known to have defective batteries that get warm even removed from phone !!! Night and day difference , OMG ! We will see if it overheats while phone is off and if the batteries are defective like they were in the 683. So much faster and real Android 9 , not crappy GO version. BTW the battery in 693 is identical to older 683 but I suspect the defective 683 destroyed the battery.
The previous 683 model was a FAIL , thousands (millions?) of complaints of phones going dead doing nothing and batteries getting hot while in stand-by.
Had to have 2 u683 phones replaced because the batteries stopped charging. Now the same thing happened with my u693 has done the same thing. Service rep said since I dropped it the warranty was void and the cost was $25 but he would let me get one for$5 to cover s&h. When I called back to give cc# the girl said she would waive the$5. The guy said it's an upgraded model of the same phone. I know it's a free service and I appreciate that but some of the phones have flaws.

The battery on the previous one I had (I don't remember the model, but it was just from late last year or earlier this year and was just like my newer one I have now), swelled up to the point that the back of the phone wouldn't snap on anymore. Once I realized this, I panicked a little, afraid it was going to explode or something, and quickly took the battery out. I emailed them about it, they sent me the one I have now, and I sent that POS back to them. I very rarely ever used it, too. No idea how that happened. But it makes me a little weary to use my newer one, since they are so similar and could possibly be the same model. 🤷♀️
@@10_Percent_For_The_Big_Guy Switch to free government phone provider that offers brand name phones or like SafeLink that lets you bring your own phone call assurance and tell them you want to keep your number to if you don't want to using and dealing with these cheap phones. Even though it's cheap I still appreciate them though.
Advice: If the System Update is updating. You need make sure update your Update Profile for User and Data for Internet and Update PRL. Let finish it completely. You don't, start over again to function properly.

Can someone pretty please help me "wake up" this phone once the phone goes into sleep mode? The side buttons don't work & the 3 bottom options don't respond neither. There is a slot on the bottom of the phone to put your fingernail or something in to pull the back case off. It is probably stiffest the first time.

I just wanted to add two things 1. trying to get a case is like trying to walk on water. All the cases except $25 rubber bands that AW sells just do not cut it. I tried from Best Buy to Walmart to .99 stores every case is for I phone and the assurance has the camera eye in the middle which actually does make a lot more sense to me but the cases block the center eye out (how dumb is that). ALSO you can upload pictures from the camera to your computer. If your camera is working. I had the COX complete guy show me how. I can do it but I can't explain it I think ente75 should do a take on uploading do not know if you can down load from the computer to camera if you want to text a picture but usually what goes up should also come down. Will keep you posted on camera #3 if that strikes I am going to try to buy my own phone but from what I understand most purchased phones are not compatible with assurance unless you buy from them. I had a ZTE which took EXCELLENT photos and now I am in limbo as to what phone no 3 will be.
If you’re buying a case for a free phone you are doing something wrong, it is totally unnecessary
You can find some on Amazon. Even though its free, you still don't want it cracked up and scratched all to hell. I bought a case and tempered screen protector, its called taking care of your shit free or not!
@@alfredjenkins1 if it does get scratched… you call them and they send you another generic free phone…. for free.. in this case a case is literally a waste of money…. these phones are way too slow to be really usable anyway especially if youve ever used a premium phone. this would be more like a cheap kids playtoy that you give them to keep them occupied. its pretty much disposable.
really you should prob save the case money and switch to a provider that offers free brand name phones rather then this nobrand unimax one.

When you reach your data alotment does it just slow you down or shut your data off? Ive uses 3.8 GB. So far

Pretty horrible phone regarding the display, I had this one for a few years, minimal use on it. Do glad to have gotten a better more useable device recently, although sad it wasnt the samsung galaxy s10 I was promised, that has 4 times more internal memory and 3 x more ram, than what they recently sent me.

Try taking out the battery and putting it back in. If that doesn't work, contact Assurance and they will probably replace the phone.

Touch the 3 dots in upper left of the camera screen as you view the photo you are about to take if holding phone vertically. If holding horizontally/(panoramic) the 3 dots are located to the bottom left. Once you touch the "..." icon it will take you to the next screen where you will find the settings icon at the bottom of the page. It looks like a squiggly wheel/(circle). Touch that icon and it will take you to the next settings screen for the camera and about halfway down that page you will see "Countdown timer". Touch that icon and it will give you the option to select 2 seconds, 5 seconds, or 10 seconds. Just touch whichever selection you choose. This will become immediately become phone's new timer before photo is snapped.

Mississippi. It appears that all states that Assurance serves now get this phone.
We get 5GB data in California and if your hotspot not working make them activate it. They know you are entitled to hotspot but I had to tell them to activate it on their end. They tried to tell me to wait till next cycle and I said NO , DO IT NOW.
