Modern cars are much too complex and actual crisis demonstrates how it is important to be able to produce locally affordable and simple equipements.
Absolutely agree. These new safety laws are absurd, we need flexibility. I'm quite sure millions of people would prefer a relieable practical 2cv than these econotrash cars we see on the streets. And we definitely should have local production without use of foreign products.

1977 I'm riding along on my trail bike and come across totally by chance something I had never seen or heard of 2CV rallying. On waste land used for Moto-X bikes these were being raced off road. Really steep hills. Jumps. Ditches. Was great to watch. When they rolled over the driver & Co got out and righted them and set off again. Never seen it since. Surprised it didn't catch on. talking to some of the owners it was a cheap Motorsport to get in to.

i had several bx-s ranging through 1.6 gas to 5 pieces of 1.7 or 1.9 diesel. excelent machines. would go anywhere with comfort :) somewhere inbetween i had few cx's favoring the cx prestige convert to 2.5td and it was the best the world can offer :) still ! and now i own xantia 1.9td and peugeot 106 1.4 gas/propan, still excelemt machines :) please notice that the record in moose test for the citroen xantia is still undoubted :)

Some people on America didn't understand these cars. But if you compare it to a John Deere Gator or a Polaris RZR then people understand it more. They were designed to get French Farmers wears into the city. So they were designed to go through slop of the country roads. Front wheel drive utility vehicle then add the four wheel drive look almost unstoppable.
They're manufactured the Citroen Mehari with 4wd; I guess, they put that kit into the 2cv. Duriing the 60s Citroen build the so-called 2cv Sahara with a second engine which made it work like a 4wd.
Bin into cars for over thirty years and never knew these came in 4wd but knew they had a great suspension and was a farmers type vehicle why is this not made known because now I want one bad

I'm sure there is a military version of the 2CV, it's like a little flatbed utility thing. Looks nothing like a 2CV just uses the same running gear etc.
A good one in Germany cost about 12-14.000 Euro + Shipping. 4x4 system comes from the Mehari and its custom made with extra costs. I think 2-3000 Euro extra.

2cv sahara is twin engine, this is not a Sahara, so maybe its not twin engine. (Has no rear air intake, the fuel tank Is in the original place, spare wheel problaly too). As i Said: i don't think its twin engine...
simple cars are enough , heavy cars with horse power are waste of money ,if it is a light weight it goes very well on offraod , early mechanical engineers were more talented
I think you rather miss the point. The 2CV was a minimal car. Every part, was essential and there was no additional parts added beyond the necessary and simplest parts. So where does 4x4 fit in with that? Well it does not. It is a rather pointless addition to the car, that adds nothing but a silly and pointless function of being able to go up a steep bank. Pop some decent tyres on the 2wd version and it will probably do the job anyway!
Citroen themselve build that two engine 4x4 2cv for military reasons. They get the point for building the simplest 4wd car ever. Otherwise you are right, it is not really necessary to have one.

Vehicles built pre 1920s have 'off roading' capabilities similar to a 2CV.

During the '60s Citroen built a few 4x4 2CVs themselves by simply sticking another engine in the boot. Quite valuable today.
