One of my top ten all time favorite ABBAsongs, and that’s saying a lot because I truly love each and every song available ! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎤🎤🎹🎸 Another iconic piano intro by the master Benny Andersson! 🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
ABBA had a more contemporary synthpop sound in 81 & 82 on songs like “The Visitors”, “Under Attack”, The Day Before You Came”, and even “One Night In Bangkok” from Chess (1984). The problem was that those songs were considered WAY too dark, especially for ABBA. Today, those songs are now considered ABBA classics... “The Visitors” is the opening song of ABBA Voyage; “Under Attack” was included as part of “Mamma Mia!” the musical; “The Day Before You Came” was voted the #6 best pop in History by NME in 2012. ✌️
You're right, it was intended for the UNICEF concert in January 79, so this is the original mix from 1978. They used the mix again in the UK for the Christmas Mike Yarwood special. However Chiquitita came along and was much more relevant for UNICEF so it was released instead. A totally different mix of IIWFTN appears finally appears later in year.
That was in the middle of the Feverish Disco era right after the explosion of Saturday Night Fever OST.You can hear real strings, piano, bass yet that wasn't the final mix released in the Voulez Vouz.Album version was even better with more vocals added.A melodic, disco funky masterpiece.
I love this song and the performance 😍 the girls are so sexy (Agnetha looks like a sexy angel) watch more of this performance, “the name of the game” “knowing me knowing you” so good🤩
Still think this is a big hit that got away, If you want a REALLY interesting non-single, check out The Visitors from 1981. A single in America only, it heads in directions where ABBA weren't expected to go. Paranoid, icy, political and still danceable. Treat yourself!
The words would most likely be Bjorn's department. He and Agnetha had announced their divorce in January 1979, while Frida and Benny wouldn't break up till 1981. I always enjoy this performance - Frida looks happily plastered!
Yeah lyrics actually are sad reflecting Bjorn's real kinda devastating mood after the seperation with Agnetha. This song is a big deep cut fave to many fans.Unfairly the single that never was.
surprising they never released this a s a single-way better than I have a dream and Does your Mother know. Chiquita made number 2 in UK-kept off the top by Heart of Glass.
Yet It's amazing that Voules Vous album gave 5 (!)songs that became hit singles.4 of them peaked at 3 plus a top 5.(Chiquitita no2-could have been no1 if i the top spot wasn't occupied by Blondies great 'Heart of Glass")/then followed "Does your mother know?" no4/"Voulez Vous-Angeleyes" no3/ then "I have a dream"no2 (top was occupied by Pink Floyd's "Another break in the wall" and then followed "Gimme Gimme Gimme" no3 included in the GH collection later as a bonus in the VV CD editions.
Forgot about this track and it sounds better listening today. It does sound like their earlier stuff as they evolved into a more adult sounding band.

Yeyy!Our ABBA!Our childhoods fairytale.A sparkling satin Dream!
Very singable... Very funny song!
The girls looks amazing! (Especially Frida❤)

Finally I hezrd th3e word Disco, lol. Nice song , nice feeling. the music is very late 70s, the singing could indeed be just after Waterloo.

great song and good reaction. Bjorn the guitarist was married to the blonde Agnetha. Benny the pianist was married to Ani-Frid aka Frida the red head
Should have been released as a double A sided single with "Chiquitita" imo for a diverse contrast.
