It really irks me that everyone wants to go comparing a solo on a fanfare based on the song to a full band arrangement or the original song. Go listen to Al Jarreau’s original black and blues then come back and listen to this one. That’s the version this arrangement is based on
Came just to compare and see if any1 can match Bilal, aint found a mf yet, this band SOUNDS good tho, but what William did brought me tears, i cant find that no where
Because although it's good, it's a blown out version of a soulful rendition they may have heard 1st. You gotta hear this bro th-cam.com/video/aqSDCkViRHs/w-d-xo.html remastered from 5 years ago. ♥
Some of us have been in bands that played at a very high level and this is just a loud mess. No intonation. No discernible melody. No harmony. No leadership. Just loud.
This is an awesome arrangement; however, sounds like the upper brass doesn't know 100% of the song. And on the riff towards the ending, trombones sounded a bit muffled.
Much like most marching bands...way too heavy on the trumpets. Benedict College and the Funk Phi Slide (trombone section) shows what you can do when you lead with the trombones. There is a reason why "76 Trombones Led the Big Parade".
@@EarthAngel504 Ok, well it sounds the same as it has since the first time i've heard it live in fall 93 to me. I mean it is a jazz song by Al Jearreau.
William Bilal and team still crushes this
this is a whole band arrangement 🤦

Thank you🤦🏽♂️
This is what happens when you go to see a band play and someone decides to bring a football with.......
This is good… But William Bilal would tear the whole band apart.
Agreed.
You cats still don't get it
It's about the band not one single cat
And you wonder why some of your bands are the way they are
This was an entire band, not just the trombone section... Both this and BC's version stand on their own merits...
@@stevemilligan8708 na bro. Will just different with the solo.
@@5300trilla nah, Steve is 💯 right. These people are having fun and you want to compare them to something else. Let’s see you play it…
Sound good, but the 93 SU played this the best. Mellos use to sound like elephants roaring!
My favorite band song. Team clarinet lol
You put wil in this band and the entire field will bruh down to flames
Best band ever in life and death

When the trumpets cover up the melody…
First live band I ever heard was Southern and the bar was set too high from the start. Every other band I've heard since then I was like
😒🥱
It s a call and response
Florida A&M ‼️
Not Benedict’s trombone section!
This go hard but ain’t no blacc n blues standing up after Bilal
Where’s William Bilal when you need him
I like it, dont know why people are shitting on it
Exactly always got to say when it sounded better to them

@@christansdadbig on no harmony it just sounds like blended noise

hi I'm in Mr.T band
hbcu bands been playing "black and blues" BEFORE Bilal was even born. He's a great soloist but he doesn't own the song. stop comparing
This is an awesome arrangement; however, sounds like the upper brass doesn't know 100% of the song. And on the riff towards the ending, trombones sounded a bit muffled.
One bad one sound
This classic su They clean mellos crisp. That sht now is trash 💯

ayre
too jazzy for me.. i like the old traditional brutal attack of Black and Blues
It's the same Black and Blue thank Cornell Knight wrote for SU back in the day.
@@MrPesante2008 i know it's the same, but they're playing it a little to slow and jazzy. and not aggressive like i'm used to

@@MrPesante2008 so, are you saying that this one is as jazzy and and aggressive as this one
th-cam.com/video/0donsMYJvu4/w-d-xo.html
This band sounds crisper and cleaner but the other band had better tempo
Sounded off beat a little 😬
They need to watch william bilal sounds much better than this version
Why Would An Entire Band Watch William Bilal...Southern Stay On Your Mind Huh?
It’s the original version I’m sure you wasn’t a band member. su4life
Yes. I think 8 trombones sounds great and more jazzy, but this an entire 100+ band and sounds freakin amazing
This is the best version..😂. Not the remix. Go back and listen to the real song.
Eh, needs more aggression… good shyt though.
Not it…js
