@Spider-manana, it's about a friend of Marcus's who committed suicide. He was traveling abroad in France and the lyrics "goodbye Carolina" just came to him, and he was reminded of his friend.
He's getting refined. This specific track I noticed a little change in his voice. It's not pushing it, singing more naturally. Don't get me wrong I love it when you sings hard too. Remember he started very young. A real professional. The perfect band alongside him. It's rejuvenated my love for the blues rock sound.
I completely agree and understand what you're saying. I've said before that his real raspy voice, while very good, isn't needed in all instances and I actually wondered if he could sustain that way of singing for an entire career. All of his most recent stuff, he's definitely singing more balanced. It's great to see.
Totally agree. He has a great talent but that talent needs to be worked on (Like everything else in life). I loved the first album and also the 2nd, but you can hear that he has even more improved his talent on this one.
Man, them horns. As awesome as Marcus is on the guitar, and as great as their songwriting has become, having a horn section has given their sound a depth and maturity far beyond its years.
