Actually in Washington state we can take Medicare now. The group I am with has been able to get us paneled and able to accept Medicare. This is exciting because due to these regulations it can be hard for individuals on Medicare to find a therapist.

That's true. Nowhere else do people call themselves doctors if they're not physicians AFAIK.

Can you do some reviews of therapists and Drs saying they are “experts” on NPD abuse and saying things like “most therapists” don’t understand the dynamics. Also claiming to know what narcissists are doing saying they are “choosing or consciously aware” of what they’re “doing to you”.

I was under the impression that long sentences and the death penalty were also meant to be a means of deterrence -- the logic being that, for example, murder seems less appealing to commit if you know you will be killed in exchange. Unsure if it is actually effective, though.

There is a large body of research showing that it is no deterrent.

@@charlize9341 I figured as much, doesn't mean the policy isn't still for deterrence -- working in policy myself, sad to say most of it is based on public palatability rather than facts.

@@mbt9700 I also have a policy background 🙌 It's getting rarer and rarer for the policy making process to be identifying a public problem, looking at solutions to the problem, and then implementing what evidence would suggest would be the best solution to the problem.

Hearing "the board investigators" made me think of a couple of sleepy investigators who were highly uninterested in the case at hand, lol

Hello Kirk. Did you attend the APA Convention in Seattle this summer? One of the sessions focused on therapists who produce content on social media. I was unable to listen to it and wonder if you were among the panelists.

It's kinda interesting to hear what particularly bothers you.
The marriage thing. I'm not sure what rights common law marriages have, but what I would be concerned about when i hear about an unmarried (maybe common law married) committed partnership is a) inheritance especially with regards to life insurance and taxes, especially to any in-laws getting priority over the common-law married person. b) medical rights/visitation rights in the hospital and in making medical or legal decisions in your spouse's stead. I would be afraid my in-laws would make the decision over my partner instead of myself. But, common law marriages may grant some of those rights but I don't know.
"Best care" to me, a normie, just sounds like a whatever advertising. I immediatley write it off and make no value judgement off the preson making that claim. I do think the 100% success rate would raise my "bull-shit" meter. But it's good to hear this from you because by knowing that these ethical distinctions are made in the field of psychology/psychiatry/counseling, I can weed out the hacks. Thank you!
