Cartridge with carbon can be used for filtering 150-500 L of alcohol, so all of it depends on quality of alcohol. Usually it's about 300 Litres. If we talk about water there same thing, depends on the water you have usually 300-700 litres per one cartridge.
This is a great water filter but useless for liquor because there is a couple things wrong for one it’s too small of a filter to polish anything over a half gallon if it worked before needing to clean the carbon. Best ratio is 2 inch by 2 foot and a mesh size of 20 X 50 for the activated carbon. With that you can clean up to 3 gallons spirits before you notice the unwanted impurities washing through and needing to re clean your activated charcoal. Pump is a bad idea as well and a gravity fed one would make a better quality and be cheaper, you want it to filter alcohol slow so it strips all the low boiling point alcohol molecules. The pump is too small to effectively polish anything over a gallon and by adding a pump to force it trough will also wash or force all the unwanted esters with it, but is a cool idea. A cheaper better version can be made with a 2 for section of 2 inch pvc for the carbon and a 2 foot section of 4 inch. Hang it on a wall and have an end cap with a nipple so it filers slow and so you can control you output. Carbon should be cleaned and soaked before added to filter then an additional quart of water dumped in and as the last few drops of water drips pour in your gallon of spirits. A vacuum will happen naturally and taste liquid dripping out. When it changes from water to alcohol start collecting because it happens quick. Then as the last few drops of alcohol come out, pour in another quart of water and taste drops every few seconds until alcohol turns to water again. It’s that easy and cost about $25 in supplies. Activated Carbon can be cleaned and reused so it’s a one and done when it comes to filters unless you want to polish more spirits between carbon cleanings then you can build bigger. 2 inch by 2 foot filter with a 4 inch by 2 foot reservoir are the most common size for home distillers and the size most brew shops sell except they want a lot of money for theirs because they make them outta stainless or copper. Also the best mesh size of activated carbon is 20 by 50. These 2 (filter and carbon) will clean up to 3 gallons but that’s stretching it. Most people that filter with them about 2 gallons before cleaning the carbon.
I want the best activated carbon filter for alcohol for home use! I was about to press order to buy this stuff but you comment has made me skeptic! I am afraid to ask for your advice as to which kind of activated carbon filter for alcohol at my home! Thank you, bye bye!
You can use a similar filter to produce 100% (absolute) alcohol. It must be made from stainless steel, as the reaction is exothermic (it gets hot). Absolute alcohol is useful if you want to extract substances from cannabis (very low temperature required -- not a problem in Siberia😉). See: www.opensourcesteel.com/products/molecular-sieve
I love this filter,a definitely must have for sure
Useful device! 👍
Good video and great idea , i was wondering if this would work on removing the alcoholic smell from ethanol 200 proof for making perfumes ?
This is a game changer what a great design. Q: who long does the carbon last ?.Cheers From Aussie.

Is this a normal water pump? Most of them says "not use with inflamable liquids"
How much the filter cost and which campany sale it
Where can I buy, I am in UK
Hey the left side let’s all the colours of the rainbow through to be refracted and the right seems more blue light coming through.
I would like to buy this filtering machine...
Hi there is there any we’re this filter can be purchased in Australia
Hello, is it possible to buy one of these?
Why both tubes inside glass? One should be input. Another output?? 🙄🤔
Yes, you can filter how you like. This is just the most effective way.
I love my filter
You don't need to let the carbon rest for 24hours in water before filtering vodka?
No you don’t need to...
Its always a good idea to run alcohol through a electrical motor.
Smart idea! Much faster than letting it drip through. Is the pump peristaltic?
Hi, thanks! No, it's membrane pump. Peristaltic pump wouldn't work perfectly because of pressure inside of cartridge.
@@DoctorGradusInternational thank you

Has anyone used this with cannabis full spectrum extractions? (alcohol 96 proof)
