This bike was the first bike I've owned as a kid back in the 70's. I recently picked one up that runs well but, could be brought back to life. I find your videos the perfect tutorials I need to do the projects I want.

Try that "Rub and Buff" stuff to weather and match your paint. Use it sparingly, just a dab on a cloth, and rub it in with your finger. You can get lots of cool effects with that stuff. I've seen special effects guys and model makers raving about it on "Tested" videos

We grew up on these bikes !!!!
A useful tip for each one who wants to know : Always check the chain with the full weight a bike can carry. The angle of the rear fork and its position with respect to the front gear extremely tightens the chain in each pothole or bump . *Never* tighten the chain that much. The manual states 2-3 cm. Always check it with load or the life of the chain and sprockets will shorten too much.

I just wanted to thank you for sharing your experiences and work here. I really enjoy your videos. I also wanted to share what I have done to fix dented motorcycle gas tanks. I have only done this with dirt bike tanks because of their smaller size. Also the tanks have been metal from older bikes. You may already know this method and don't do it for obvious reasons, but I used to fill the tank with water and throw it into the freezer. You have to get the right amount of water in the tank so you don't stretch the tank. I used to eyeball it. Anyway, when the water freezes it usually expands just enough to push large dents out and it does it uniformly. Another nice thing is that it does not destroy the paint on the outside unless the tank stretches. It takes time since you have to let it thaw when you are done and really dry out the tank so I used to do it in the summer time when it is really hot out. Northern California can get pretty hot so the tank dries rather quickly with the low humidity as well.
Anyway, not sure if you knew this method or not. I was always successful fixing tanks this way.
Again, thanks for sharing all that you do.

When I was a young teenager, myself and many of my friends rode bikes like this, but the bikes were new back then. So watching this video brought back a lot of good memories from back then. Seeing you tightening the chain, adjusting the brake, and all that stuff you were doing brought back those memories. And the design of the muffler. And the bumps and dents were present back then too. Seems like a long time ago. But thanks for the good memories...

Having both front and rear aluminum fenders in such good shape on that bike is pretty rare. It has been quite a while since I have seen an old Honda like that with both of them unbent.
I remember my very first bike back in the 70's was a Honda SL 350.. Basically same bike with a 350cc twin engine in it and a slightly larger frame. The trouble I got up to on that thing..

you should spin the rear tire when adjusting a chain drive bike. you need to set the chain tension on the tightest spot in the chain. spin it you will see it binds when the high side of the sprocket is toward the back comes around... great video.

Every time I see Musty wrenching on this 125 Honda reminds me of my own '70 or '71 Suzuki 125 road/trail bike. Man, do I miss it now. But here in Québec, at the time you could have a bike license with your car license. Not anymore. I'd have to go through a whole year of basic training, both indoor theory classes and on the road training for anything over 50 cc ! Ho God, mercy !

What you could have done in regards to the covers you painted, lay down a light fog of that chrome paint as a base coat then the paint you used for the final coat would have matched the tank a little better. Just my opinion.
But still a great job bringing old bikes back to life, love what you do just wish I can get stuff in Australia as cheap as what you do.
