    I feel a bit sorry for Crater Falls here. It loses basically the same amount of build area from mountains as Fisher Enclave does from water. My biggest complaint about it is the highways, which take up too much of the flat central land, I wish they'd put them skirting the edges.
    Also I find it so weird that in this game tuna, an ocean fish, only ever appears in rivers. Never really noticed until seeing these videos.

      Anchovies - Shallow still water
      Shellfish - Deep still water
      Salmon - Shallow flowing
      Tuna - Deep flowing
      You can terraform to change what fish will spawn

    Crater Falls seems clearly to have been build for the standard 9 tiles. So as a console player it still would be perfect and for those, who rarely use the 24, not even speaking of all the tiles. It is always about what you want to achieve with the map.
    Edit: Also interesting, that these DLC maps are the first, which have resources outside the normally buildable 24 tiles.

    The big selling point of Crater Falls is how beautiful and unique-looking it is, and I think you'd have to lean into that with a build. Make a small town to support your tourism industry, and then go wild with huge sprawling national parks (including bus and walking tours), ferries going up and down the rivers on "sightseeing tours", a gorge-spanning cable car service, etc.
    Swamplands (with increased tile count) would probably lend itself well to a sprawling build of multiple smaller communities, like a (mostly) vanilla Cleaterwater County.

      100% the build would need to tie in with the theme. I imagine a super highrise theme would look really odd on crater falls lol

    I’m glad someone agrees with the intersections. There is nothing worse to look at that a poorly make intersection, especially if your on vanilla and you only got 9 tile but don’t want to waste a tile just to fix one up.

    The bridges in Fisher Enclave might be at that high elevation to allow for ships to pass under them.

    Yes! Was waiting for "my map" to see if others love it as much as me.
    And indeed Azure Gulf falls into the must play category!
    It just strikes me whenever I play it, there're so many ways to offer my Cims housing with stunning views.
    I almost wish I could live there myself.
    But of course I'd probably be stuck in a crapshack in the suburbs with little to none excitement surrounding it.
    Anyway, beautiful map which has basically every option you need available to it.

    I think crater falls can present a nice challenge for experienced players. Building inside a crater is a cool idea, haven't played in the map but maybe an edited more player friendly version could work so much better. I see that Egg is a bit worried about scrambling. xD Which reminded me that I hadn't checked the tabs in the previous video I just had a quick look there. xD

    In love with the fact that Crater Falls is "landlocked" in part thanks to a natural disaster, and so clearly no shipping route.. yet theirs a shipwrecked cargo boat In a tile next to starting square..

  • @Torthrodhel

    These videos are so useful! On console with only a single screenshot to go by, you really can't tell what any of the maps are unless you start a game with them (which takes a while).

  • @Myne1001
    @Myne1001 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I've never played in Crater Falls and now I want to. I love mountainous maps as they provide a challenge. It's also very scenic. Definitely trying that out soon.
    EDIT: Azure Gulf's little mountain streams are great for creating little dams. Not the best power source but if you're going for a mountain hydro-electric aesthetic (bit like the Snowy Mountains Scheme in Australia) it's a great place to do it.

    Fisher Enclave is a favourite for me... I often load it up simply to flood the big bay area in the middle. Then I just sit and watch it fill up. Proper ASMR

    Crater Falls was one of the most fun times I ever had with an "official" map. I can't really put my finger on it, I just had a good time on that map. Maybe it's because the terrain is so limiting, there's basically a size limit to the city. Normally, I lose interest at one point because I don't know where to expand further, but that really wasn't an issue here.

      Same. I actually am thinking of planning a Crater Fall play over am Azure Gulf play after watching this. Flatting everything out making the entire city the same altitude is boring.

    Why would they include a barren desert with virtually no water on the fishing-themed harbor DLC? It seems like a cool (ie. creative) enough map, just a wild inclusion for the theme haha

    I currently have a Crater Falls save going. I LOVE to build small rural towns with maybe a small to medium city somewhere in the map. Crater Falls gives me the challange of building good national highways and figuring how to reach that flat spot that would be oh so good for a town. I understand your reasoning, but I respectfully disagree. It is a great map for the satellite town form of play. The only gripe I have is the complete lack of respect on how trains work. the routes they take up the mountains are so steep that a realistic train could not dream of making it up.

    City skylines is terrible with only 9 tiles on PS4 I wish they would change this

    • @jahvyn
      @jahvyn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. My old desktop wasn't powerful enough to run the game so I've been playing on ps4 for a couple of years. Now I have a better mac I'm tempted to switch so I can use some of the more interesting mods and, of course, a larger playable area. But I don't think I can justify buying it, along with every DLC I've already purchased. I'll probably have to wait for CS2
