- Initially I could not figure out why the continuity camera will connect using a cable but won't connect wirelessly to my Mac mini. it turned out the way it works is rather simple and a little silly looking back.

You didn't actually show how to connect. You just said "hey, look guys i did it" your just showing that it works without actually explaining how it works.
Its like teaching someone how to bake a cake, but the cake is already done, and telling them...and thats how you do it!!! XDXD
Terrific Juan. I've been looking for weeks to find what I was doing wrong. You nailed it.
Glad it helped you
The key is to be in Landscape and not moving. 'Note: In order to use your iPhone as a microphone on a Mac without a built-in camera, the iPhone must be in landscape orientation, stationary, and locked.'
Thanks for sharing!
Tks
This is what solved my problem! Thank you!
The key turned out to be your comment!

OMG! this thing was driving me nuts. It has to be held upright in landscape mode, mimicking being mounted on the monitor. It will never work laying flat on the desk.
I kept getting prompts to use my iPhone for a webcam which I ignored. But I realize my M2 Mini does not like my Logitech 920 camera. So as I was looking for webcams that would work with M2 Mini I found your very helpful video. Thanks brother.
I had to connect my iphone to the mac mini with a usbc cable first. Run and close the zoom app. Then it works wirelessly without any issues.
That's one way to do it I guess. Thanks for sharing!
hello make some clear video becasue i have a mac mini m2 its camera work while with cable but wirelessly didn't work..i tried but not successfull
Sorry to hear that it doesn’t work for you but if you read the other comments the video shows that it has helped many
not working ,click bait
This was freaking amazing, thank you!
Thanks, Juan, it didn't work until I connected USB first, but then it work wireless for me. Thanks again.
That’s great to hear! Cheers!
10k views... HEY APPLE, its not intuitive that the phone needs to be in landscape mode to engage this feature
Thank you sir. Simple and to the point.
Happy to help
I tried for ages until I found your video. For a minute I thought you were not going to tell us the fix but right at the end - have phone locked - and BOOM, it works! Thankyou
I was scratching my head too earlier wondering why it wouldn’t work and then discovered it was so simple it seemed silly, so I felt I should make a video and share with others out there. Happy it helped.
spent the last hour troubleshooting, reset every network setting, doing everything suggested....then I come across this and boom it works! Thank you so much
Glad it helped 👍
For anyone trying to fix this issue with the mac mini. It will also pop up the option to use the iPhone Camera if you have any other webcam connected with usb. The solution in the video works great aswell
Thanks for sharing this tip
in my case, if the mac is brand new, the phone needs to be connected to mac via cable first, in order to trust the mac and then they will connect. thanks
That’s interesting, mine was brand new too and connected wirelessly with no issues. But thanks for sharing, could be helpful for some people.
Juan, you are lifesave. Been searching about this, mostly just overrated fancy TH-camr that didn't explain anything. Thank you.
You’re welcome. Happy to help.
Apple wasn't able to help, you were! Thank you!
thank you! did not work with cable. but it does work wirelessly!
You’re welcome!
This is exactly what I have been looking for 😊
That’s awesome 👍
I have an Iphone 13 Pro Max, M1 Macbook Air and M1 Mac Mini. It just recognizes the Macbook. I´m not able to make it work with the Mini. All of them last update, same WiFi, Iphone blocked and landscape mode... so weird
I hope you find out what’s wrong. It was not working for me earlier either and I was puzzled as well, then I did things step by step and it just worked. Good luck.
It's not working for me even on my Mac Mini M1 as well... Tried everything possible... Did you find a solution?
@@GeraldHaniel in options of Bluetooth, go to apps and add the ones you’re going to use the IPhone camera as webcam. I updated first the Mac and the IPhone. After that I did the Bluetooth thing and finally it worked for me. Let me know if you need more help
Great work Juan! , I've wasted hours finding the solution on apple's own site and internet too but nothing helped. Thanks!
Same thing happened to me and that’s why I decided to make the video after I figured it out
This did it. Thanks, Juan!
You’re welcome
Thank you Juan for the informative video!
Thank you for your comment. The whole idea of this video is to use the iPhone as a wireless camera with the Mac mini. No I have not tried connecting a wired webcam.
It works!thx u!!@@JuanWei

What’s the fixx?
Have your iPhone locked, on the same Wi-Fi network, place it securely near the Mac, and it should connect wirelessly.
Landscape, docked (stationary, not moving) and near your mac.
You da best!! thank you
the fix is you have to have the phone locked before you start up zoom.
I find it’ll still work even after you start up zoom or FaceTime. Just lock the phone and place it near the Mac.
the best video! thanks
umm only way i can get it to work is if my iphone is using usb pluged to my mac
I faced the same situation in the beginning… keep trying. You could be missing something.
just like meowth27 said,
Landscape, docked (stationary, not moving), and near your macWhen you opened zoom
Try to click on rotate button on the zoom video page. That makes me success
@@iveive4400 thanks for sharing your experience
Me too. I wouldn't make it work. Only USB works. I am trying to disable VPN totally and keep trying.
omg finally... thanks alot man!!!
You’re welcome
Thank you so much 🙂
Awesome video!! Definitely going to try this out tomorrow!! Does your FaceTime normally say “No Camera Available” when you open it?
Yes it used to show “No camera available”. Now I just have the iPhone ready in position and the camera will automatically activate. Hope it works for you.
doesn't seem to work for iPhone XR and 11
I was using an iPhone 11 in the video. Should work, I couldn’t get mine working in the beginning too and was puzzled, something must be missing in your case.
@@JuanWei thanks Juan
are you using mac mini m1?
M2 Mac mini
Tq sir
