    Yah wow, very impressive results.
The fact that the Mode 7 layer was always being transformed regularly with rotation and scaling really helps this as you rarely focus on what's changing.
Like for instance sprites which you tend to focus on a lot I don't really like any upscaling unless everything stays 1:1.
BSNES is an incredible emulator, it's essentially perfect.

I always loved the mode 7 in secret of mana. That game uses it really well with the dragon plus the music was awesome.

The minute your started free falling in the Pilotwings parachute stage, I realized the numbers on the ground were visible from much higher. Wow.

I would love to see what Wolfenstein 3D would look like with HD. Wolfenstein used BSP to draw it's FPS part as a background in low res, then scaled it to nearly full screen using Mode 7. I would love to see what it looks like in HD, if you can show it. Thank you

Yeah me too,now who ever knows what a vector filter could do to those graphics to eliminate blockyness for good,as opposed to HD upscaling,
Now am also curious how sprite scaling was done in wolfenstein 3D,i guess it uses sprite scaling trough software right?

Mode 7 is better than Blast Processing. But BP definitely sounds cooler.

Emulators sure have come a long way from plug and play replacements for old hardware.

I've played the SNES mini, And what i'm willing to bet, That little mini emulator that nintendo put out there. Wasn't even designed for SNES like it should have been. I'm talking about nintendo maybe buying parts from anbroid companies and being lousy Instead of making a emulator with the right specs. NINTENDO is gonna be lazy and give you a more than powerful emulator which can't keep up with the true specs. Now, this is exactly what i'm willing to bet that i'm right about along with any other mini systems.
And what do I think of m!$+3r emulator? They are NUTS to even think it's equivalent to original hardware... Oh yeah SNES mini looked straight up like pixelated CRAP💩

@@demonology2629 I've never gotten my hands on one, but I thought that was based on Raspberry Pi architecture? And, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't M2 do the emulation? I'm personally not all that into emulators, save for some greatest hit collections on Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch, of which I know the Sega collection was done by M2 and they did a pretty good job. I still play all my old OG hardware on a CRT, and don't have any plans to change that up unless that TV craps out.

F Zero wasn’t a huge difference, probably cuz of how close you always are to the map face. But Pilotwings looks especially great with it. Hyperzone too.

Well i never tout to see a difference between it’s original and enhanced resolution because of those high speed mode 7 games,BUT yes i got to say that there is a differences, things just look smoother and it eliminate that annoying flicker in wich we were used with for decades,it feels like as if you are playing those mode7 games on a real 3D system,BUT it could be even better,if everything get’s vectorized, including all those sprites and other background layers, you will no longer see any blockey graphics at all,but still this is already such incredible step forward,it makes me wish that nintendo increased the resolution of mode7.

Power of emulation? I don't believe there's not one faithful emulator for any console on the market not even the mini systems are faithful emulators. There's always gonna be some kind of fluke going on with the emulator from the graphics, sound or gameplay, it's never on par. I would just buy a hdmi cord And hook it up to my SNES. I would like to get a good emulator but I don't really believe there's none out there. Other than that, this is a awesome video, I just have a hard time understanding anybody trying to recommend the emulator. That's why I spent all this money on original hardware because i've seen emulators, and then none dose a good job for me.

sounds a bit too elitist to me. I also went back to hardware because i wanted it as authentic as it can get, especially by using CRTs. CRTs make the biggest difference imo and yes, i also really like the "good feeling" or "sense of security" that everything is excactly like it was intended because everything is original hardware. Also, it's a haptic thing... original pads, cartridges, consoles.. the smell and feel... yes, that's why i'm addicted to this stuff. BUT..... i've also used emulation for so many years, and it's so much great fun on its own. This video is only about one way of sooo many that emulation can enhance the experience of old games and platforms. And let me tell ya.. i build a Raspi Retropie setup with a Pi2Scart-adapter years ago and connected it to a Commodore 1084s monitor i've gifted to a buddy of mine. He and his other buddy are elitist retro gamers and collectors, but none of both had seen emulation on a CRT with true 240p RGB yet. Both were blown away and asked themselves, why they collected all this stuff when there's such an easy way to get an expierience THAT authentic. Really makes you think... yes, one of the main reasons emulation always felt "off" were the flat panel displays and/or wrong (too high) resolutions of PC-CRTs. Don't underestimate or judge emulation be itself until you've seen what it can look and feel like if everything around it is original/authentic.

@simonklotz8817 Nice insight, The best thing about the emulator for me is you can download those roms that never came home, such as an arcade game or a little game you just can't afford Or don't want to afford. I use Mega Drive & TG-16 emulators to test my roms on my phone that I download or patch for the everdrives. But I really hardly ever play a game through my emulator on my Android phone, I don't like the touch screen unless it was designed for it and none of them was.

@@demonology2629 yeah touch screens suck for gaming, i guess this will never change. Can you imagine - use "retro" gamers went though the entire evolution of great input devices with some of the best gamepads of all times. No wonder we can't accept touchscreens for playing games.
