100% dude. Every guitarist have a good luthier they can call. I buy/sell/trade like crazy and I wouldn't have any of my guitars if not for him. I had him build a ⅞ warmoth(24 frets/24¾" scale) guitar for me. The wood, hardware, and PUs are all top notch, but I think my luthiers special touch is what made it shine... he used the best wiring, 11$ a piece Russian military grade capacitors, his own technique he created for the fretwork. I saw Vicious Guitars a couple weeks back browsing custom guitars. I've got a custom shop of my own from Black Diamond, who I think are totally worth looking into. He does almost everything on his own, even handwinds his own pickups, and it's easily the best guitar I've played in my life! Great video as always, Glen, and love here from Chicago 💜
I feel your pain SO MUCH. I can never find Vs in local guitar stores and when I do, they're either horrendous looking or are simply bad instruments. I don't live in Canada or have that much money to shell out, but I'm definitely making mine with a luthier soon. Especially since now I'm playing a lot of Helloween covers live. Video production and editing was on point! Great job from everyone at Spectre and Vicious Guitars🤘
I’m so stoked you featured Vicious on here! I’ve been following them for maybe a year, getting close? I’m almost exclusively a V player and when I saw a company that makes only V’s I had to follow and keep with what they were doing. Like you said, they’re really works of art.
Congrats on your new guitar Glenn That is an exceptionally beautiful flying V. Somehow the proportions of it is very pleasing to the eye. - And I dont even like flying V's 😎
Just picked up a new Jackson Rhoads during the Independence Day sales. The fit and finish is flawless, setting it up today including the FR. It's better than I expected for a guitar that sells for US $849 before any sales discounts. Over the last few years, I've sold several of my more expensive guitars, and purchased even more guitars in the $300 - $1500 range, and none have disappointed me. My least expensive was $280, hardtail, bolt-on neck, that is nearly flawless, IIRC I had to adjust the intonation on 2-3 strings and with a string change it was ready to play. It's your money, buy what you want. I buy gear I dig and use, not to impress friends, family or randoms. Cheers.
Sitting here salivating over that guitar. I've got a strange feeling that Vicious Guitars will hiring to keep up with demand soon now and only the best luthiers need apply. The amount of, and work in the lamination process alone is astounding. Just a jaw dropping piece of art.
Very nice build, he is building the way that I like too. Hippie sandwich neck through, non angled neck with a simple fixed bridge and no TOM or vibrato, beautiful woods, Wide radius fretboard. Love it.
Great vid, Glen! It's cool to see a feature on the craftsperson behind the gear. Goran is the REAL DEAL and is truly passionate about V's. I'm fortunate enough to own the 3rd VICIOUS V ever made and Goran is in the midst of building me VICIOUS V number 23! I've had a bunch of high end Gibson, Fender, PRS guitars over the past 20-ish years and this V is by far my favorite tool in my studio! WELL worth the price of admission! 3 out of 5 Stars....Wouldn't change a thing! HA! Cheers.
This is fantastic. When you said that he makes the guitars in the Toronto Tool Library, my head spun. I also make guitars in a tool library, the Halifax Tool Library. I haven’t gotten into selling them as I am making them for myself and family but the collection is getting a bit too much. I might have to look at what Vicious is doing and see if anyone is interested in buying them. Super episode and a super builder. Keep it up.
10:39 Absolutely! I had my first boutique guitar made 2 years ago and it was definitely worth the wait. I have a lot of guitars from different brands also but none of them feels home as much as the custom one even although I have used them for a much longer time.
I don’t normally comment but I liked this style of video. Sweet V, looks like the same tuners I had on my Schecter KM7. Nice to see some Canadian builders 👍
Great ! for decades , manufacturers took up all the space, as though independant Luthiers didn't even EXIST ... a happy purchase & an invaluable instrument, congrats , Glenn
This is wonderful. I"m in the TTLMakerspace almost every day and I can honestly say Goran is awesome. He puts so much care into every single detail, everything done by hand. He's friendly and loves what he does - all the community love him.
I play metal in two bands. I love the look of flying Vs but the handle ability on stage is just not there. They are always way to light and how it sits on my body makes it uncomfortable. But man they are great to look at.
I prefer heavier axes too, If you're able to get your hands on an old mij gibson v copy or something similar they usually have a good amount of weight to em. I have an 82 vantage made from ash and its about 10 pounds or a bit more, balances the shape of the body perfectly
Great showman, as a Flying V player, this is my kind of show. KK Downing and Michael Schenker turned me onto the V and I never looked back. I play every day along with my marshals, of course… Keep on rockin.
I highly respect your decision to order a custom made, master built (by one luthier) guitar. Results are outstanding when artisan feels true passion for his job.

Love the new story telling format Glenn. I'm a huge V guy and still have my 1976 Ibanez Korina V (yes the lawsuit unit). Neck thru body construction, string-feed thru the back, and great tuning knobs/pegs. Just like yours my friend. I'll send you a pic. Cheers !!
Great insights, I just wanted to get a Gibson comment in and take my comeuppance. I bought a Gibson V Mustaine in the antique natural finish that I played at the store before putting it on layaway. It sounded great at the store through the closest amplifier to mine so I decided to get it. While making another payment, I played it again through one of the same amplifiers I have at it was even better without dialing anything in. By now, I had looked over it twice and paid close attention to what had been pointed out, repeatedly. I did say repeatedly, and then they did a free proper set up at the store and it sounded and felt magnificent. I tried it through all of my big rigs at home and then I saw the worst finish flaw where the neck meets the body. It looked like it was stained & lacquered over the glue, $2,799 USD + tax is a lot of money for something as abysmal. At least two people at the music store didn’t notice it as well, probably because it was hanging high on the wall and had only been there less than a week, so I felt slightly less idiotic. The knobs were so crooked, I felt one crack when I was removing it with a proper knob removal tool. Anyway, Gibson customer service sent me a prepaid label and it went back to be repaired or replaced. Mine just needed buffed properly at the joint and the guitar came back awesome, but it wasn’t in the original box and the tolex and seam of the case was messed up. Gibson sent me a new case and a new set of knobs that didn’t match what was on there, but I was able to find the correct ones on my own. As much of a hassle as everything was, I’m satisfied with the end results and the customer service experience. Would I be willing to waste so much time and deal with the potential aggravation again? F-NO! The last two different branded guitars that I bought (both Japan manufactured) are less expensive when added together and are perfect.
Love the wood grain finishes on the back and how you can clearly see the neck-through design. I wonder if Goran would consider doing other odd body shapes like the Explorer or Iceman?
I understand your excitement. I ordered a custom bass about 6 months ago. a close copy of Justin chancellors Wal MK2. He's even making the multi coil pickups by hand! just seeing some pictures of the book matched bird's-eye maple top and quilt maple back got me so excited. It's finally becoming real.

My god what an amazing piece of work!...It sounds incredible!..I am 58 years old and pitching a tent right now over that thing...Wow, you should name it "Viagra" lol...Congrats man!
I've done a fair bit of woodworking in my day, so I take a critical look at woodwork I see... And this is gorgeous. Absolutely wonderful work! His precise layering in the neck, the semi gloss finish on the top that's perfectly even and smooth... True craftsman! Wow. Cherish that guitar forever!! 🤘
Sure lots of guitars that could compete with a Gibson, however I still love Gibson guitars and they have a great legacy. Maybe a few bad bumps in the road but that can happen to any company that lasts as long as Gibson has. That said, these are certainly great looking V's!
Vicious Guitars, and many, many small to mid-sized luthiers, make absolute top-level guitars. But when you lead in with "Gibson outclassed again" it automatically puts Vicious Guitars in the same category as the mid-level poly-coated imports you talk about so often. Vicious Guitars are hand-made art. Don't lump them in with massed produced workhorse guitars. Let Vicious stand on it's own. They've earned it.
@@viciousguitars7966 For sure my friend. It's always refreshing to see such passion put into someone's craft. Respect to you and I wish you much success ahead.
I checked out their website, and I have to say I was pretty surprised at the price point. They were less expensive than I had expected based upon the custom work and number of hours that goes into each one.

Cheers.
Amazing just amazing! Bravo Goran 👏👏👏
Love it.
Thank you sir. Would love to see your work.
Keep it up.
I would love to connect with you.
That is one awesome looking guitar. Props to the builder, he's done a sterling job making that.
Thanks Darren! 🤝
Literally got chills when you started playing that beautiful guitar!!! 🤘🎸🤘
10:39 Absolutely! I had my first boutique guitar made 2 years ago and it was definitely worth the wait. I have a lot of guitars from different brands also but none of them feels home as much as the custom one even although I have used them for a much longer time.
Beautiful guitar! Congrats.
I don’t normally comment but I liked this style of video. Sweet V, looks like the same tuners I had on my Schecter KM7. Nice to see some Canadian builders 👍
Dig this video format dude 🤘🤘🤘
Great !
for decades , manufacturers took up all the space,
as though independant Luthiers didn't even EXIST ...
a happy purchase & an invaluable instrument,
congrats , Glenn
I saw this build on their Instagram and I've been waiting for this review for a WHILE
and you never said hi. BOO YOU! ;)
@@viciousguitars7966 in my defense, I haven't been able to make it down to Toronto yet 😅
This is wonderful. I"m in the TTLMakerspace almost every day and I can honestly say Goran is awesome. He puts so much care into every single detail, everything done by hand. He's friendly and loves what he does - all the community love him.
TIM
Shoutout to Glenn for crediting all these people’s works so publicly
I play metal in two bands. I love the look of flying Vs but the handle ability on stage is just not there. They are always way to light and how it sits on my body makes it uncomfortable. But man they are great to look at.
I prefer heavier axes too, If you're able to get your hands on an old mij gibson v copy or something similar they usually have a good amount of weight to em. I have an 82 vantage made from ash and its about 10 pounds or a bit more, balances the shape of the body perfectly
Amazing work and craftsmanship. Sounds great too
Glen, you look like you're playing that V effortlessly. Happy new gear day to ya.
I speak with the luthier often and honestly, he's so chill not only as a luthier but as a dude who appreciates music too!
Word
Great showman, as a Flying V player, this is my kind of show. KK Downing and Michael Schenker turned me onto the V and I never looked back. I play every day along with my marshals, of course… Keep on rockin.
What a great video! Vicious guitars, each one made with care and attention. I'd love to own one someday.
Second time I have seen a tool co op builder recently. Very cool that these places still exist.
if these didn't exist I wouldn't be building them.
Along with the V, don't forget the explorer and destroyer.
I highly respect your decision to order a custom made, master built (by one luthier) guitar. Results are outstanding when artisan feels true passion for his job.
Damn, this is the first time I can feel how good a guitar plays by just listening to it.
Love this spotlight on small custom shop luthiers…we need more! That neck heel though…🤤
Ok I never gave a hoot about flying V guitars until this exact moment. WOW!!!!!
Craaazy good video, Glenn! Really blown away by the editing, storytelling and videography.
for me being 13 was the cars summer... then gen x billy idol... then judas defenders of faith album... well that changed every thing for me being now turnig 51 this year man oh man... as a guitar player from calgary alberta... this was it played in many bands still play today went on to be a studio guitar player made some good coin played live many many times ... then as we all know... the next gen came out. all good thou. my guitar faves are kk ...steve stevens... vai .... paul guilbert.... and so on...so grats to yhe new heavy metal guys keeping it going you who you are... oh and dime bag was and is insane. awesome good. ty glean and fuck you kk is awesome.
Lovely pieces of wood.
Sounds great too.
I love how Glenn still has the spirit of a 70s teenager!
I know we have talked a lot about "the sound" of a guitar. But something there is sounding amazing!
Goran? Nice seeing people from my country succeding in other countries in professions they couldnt back home :)
I'm all for this format you're going after, Glenn...
Am I watching a network TV show?? You upped your game Glen, Hella nice job
Cheers !!
So Glad you liked it! Shall I continue in this format?
@@SpectreSoundStudios I'd say yes, I was going to comment on this myself. Maybe expand it to independent/custom amp, cab, and pedal builders as well?
Glenn, this video is amazing. I feel like I’m watching a documentary. This is amazing! 😊
I just realized something just now, Glenn loves V Style Guitars
Oh wow! No wonder they use Toronto as a stand-in for NYC so often when filming movies and TV shows!
Excellent playing !
Respect to having only a bridge pickup. New guitar day is always exciting
EPIC MINI-VAN SHOTS!
The minimalist look is awesome.
It's finally becoming real.
darn it glenn!!! i intended to watch this video while i filled out some dreaded paperwork. however, you showed all those places in toronto that i know from when i used to live there. i had to put my paperwork down because i had to give your video my close attention. i miss going to steve's, it's a great store. and the rehearsal factory used to be on front street. the korean place you mentioned, i've been there too. the noodle soup with bulgogi that's the good stuff! thanks for that trip down memory lane from not all that long ago, except not many of the streetcars looked like that when i was there
My first guitar shape love was the Explorer because I saw James Hetfield in the "One" videoclip, but then when their Mexico City DVD came out I saw him play his white V and then it became my favorite guitar shape, period.
V-shape is cool! I bought acoustic Dean V and I love it
Beautiful work of art for sure! And those tuners are super cool and really work well with the full design.
Idk what the hell a Pariah pickup is, but it sounds incredible! I've never heard a guitar you've played sound that good with the tone you use.
lol
My god what an amazing piece of work!...It sounds incredible!..I am 58 years old and pitching a tent right now over that thing...Wow, you should name it "Viagra" lol...Congrats man!
LOL
I've done a fair bit of woodworking in my day, so I take a critical look at woodwork I see... And this is gorgeous. Absolutely wonderful work! His precise layering in the neck, the semi gloss finish on the top that's perfectly even and smooth... True craftsman! Wow. Cherish that guitar forever!! 🤘
Thank you kindly.
Sure lots of guitars that could compete with a Gibson, however I still love Gibson guitars and they have a great legacy. Maybe a few bad bumps in the road but that can happen to any company that lasts as long as Gibson has. That said, these are certainly great looking V's!
Dude, nothing says METAL like a Custom V & a Dodge freakin Grand Caravan! 🤟😝
I hope this company explodes in popularly. The guitars just look so damned nice!
fingers crossed.
That Vicious is niiiice!
Bro! You are a rockstar for taking the TTC. Thanks for not driving downtown!
Beautifull stuff. Great when you shine the spotlight at serious custom builders instead of the production line stuff.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Vicious Guitars, and many, many small to mid-sized luthiers, make absolute top-level guitars. But when you lead in with "Gibson outclassed again" it automatically puts Vicious Guitars in the same category as the mid-level poly-coated imports you talk about so often. Vicious Guitars are hand-made art. Don't lump them in with massed produced workhorse guitars. Let Vicious stand on it's own. They've earned it.
I agree. nicely put. Thank you ;)
What a genuine artist working his craft. Beautiful instrument you got there Glenn 💯
Adam, thank you. It is great to see hear some people still appreciate hand craft.
@@viciousguitars7966 For sure my friend. It's always refreshing to see such passion put into someone's craft. Respect to you and I wish you much success ahead.
Great video and shoutout to Vicious Guitars as they are truly works of art and function from a Master Artist!
Amazing guitar. Really unique!
3 grand for that amount of custom work is a steal. I have a feeling Vicious is going to have a large backlog soon
Sounds nice and tight!
Ooooh Toronto! Yay, no customs or passport needed 😋
Glenn, your playing has come a LONG way. You should be fucking proud
I like how Glen constantly talks shit on Gibson while using their name in his video titles to get more views. It's genius, really!
I checked out their website, and I have to say I was pretty surprised at the price point. They were less expensive than I had expected based upon the custom work and number of hours that goes into each one.
Damnd that is so freaking Kool wow good for you brother glen and salute to the wizard who made that axe
You Rock, from a fellow Canadian I understand the Tim Hortons burn.. great video.
Making these videos with other luthiers would make for a really good series. So many good luthiers and boutique shops out there
I have never been even remotely interested in v guitars, but I have to say that I think the guitar you had built is absolutely beautiful!
