Oh I love to see your food hauls from Ireland. When I get fresh Broccoli I cut a slice off the bottom of it and keep it in the fridge in a dish of water and it keeps for ages. It firms up right away after all it is like the flower of the plant and keeps it fed. As I can't get out too much I do have a bit of shopping delivered but you need to get fresh veg yourself, frozen is a good alternative though and we do still have some from our garden still in the freezer X
Hi Jennifer 💜 That's a great tip for broccoli it's one of my favourite vegs. Because of how rural I am I can't get shopping delivery or take away. Which is probably a bonus 😂 My garden didn't do great last year and I'm missing my home grown potatoes and carrots the most. I'm just starting to plan this years Garden and what to plant and excited to see some life again as we move into spring. It's great to hear from you as always take care lovely x
hi Lindz, i put my fresh veg in foil, it lasts about 2 weeks. you dont need to wash it, just make sure it is dry. i mainly buy broccoli, carrots, cauliflower and green beans. they do last me at least 2 weeks, the green beans and carrots sometimes last longer. i dont buy my veg in Aldi or Lidl because it goes off too fast. i found the roosters from Tesco last well. i sometimes batch cook potatoes, mash them then put them in a vacuum sealed bag and into the freezer. i date the bags so i know which ones to use first. it is a great way of saving food. i got my vacuum sealer from Lidl a few years ago, and it is still going strong.
Hi Jacky 💜 I've not heard of tin foil hack I must try it 😊 I do when I can batch cook potatoes also for mash I use a ice cream scoop freeze then pop into a zip lock handy for taking out a few. I have a food saver and absolutely love it definitely great for more long term freezer storage rather than zip lock x
Hi Lindz loved your video on your lidils haul, we tend to use Aldi, has its very close to us, the milk what we buy from Aldi is semi skimmed milk for 69p our sweet downfall which everyone has are the cream jam biscuits we also love their jam swiss roll the chocolate santa you got l bet it tastes lovely and it does not hurt treating yourself in the freezer section in Aldi we loved the turkey breast with stuffing and the chicken breast roll with stuffing we had them for christmas they still sell them michael lovels those bacon chrisps your lighting looked fine to me when you did the video glad to see you looking well 😊
Hi lovely 💜 I actually have the chicken breast joints both plain and stuffed in the freezer as there currently on offer here for €3.99 were €6.99 at Christmas I find cooking them low and slow to start brings out more flavour? I'll film the next one I cook 😊 I haven't had Swiss roll in years used to make custard to go with it as a pudding x
Looking lovely Lindz , nice haul with some bargains. I love those chocolate Santa’s nice treat. Have to get some of those Bacon Rashers, they are moorish. 🤗
You are so kind warning everybody about the wind storm I would just like to take this opportunity to tell you to stay safe stay indoors and hopefully this will pass over and we will all be ok take care linds❤
@annettesharrock1236 Hi Annette, I'm currently sitting eating some 🤣 I need to be careful, or the whole bag will magically disappear 🤣 And yes I think every where now is roughly the same price wise time for some more creativity for budget healthish meals x
We don’t have a lidl here in Perth WA. You certainly got a great shopping haul there for your money. I can easily spend over $200 for just a small shop. Milk for 3 litres is approx $4.35. Crisps and snacks are so expensive too.well done ❤
Hi Janice 💜 I saw a grocery haul a few weeks ago from oz, and the meat prices were so expensive even when I attempted to look up the exchange rate. It's getting harder to eat healthy or for some anything and I can't see it getting any better anytime soon x
Love Lidl snacks and their meat.👏🏻 I don’t have Lidl where I work in Sainsbury’s ,but we have an Aldi so get my lactose free milk there,it a lot cheaper.😄
@angelagraham9533 Hi Angel 💜 A few weeks ago I popped to my local little shop and got 2 branded version lactose free milk I thought I'd been robbed walking out 🤣 But it did save me a 20 minutes there and back to the bigger town were we are lucky to have both lidl and aldi there's also a tesco and dunnes but there a bit harder to park at x
Thank you George 💜 I'm still working on settings. I must say I'm enjoying learning with the new setup now instead of being a bit intimated. I hope you have a lovely afternoon 😊 x
Your full fat milk is very expensive ours here in the Uk is £2.15 for 3.40 litres , I also love the bacon rashers 😂 we buy the mixed pack like you to as I also love the onion rings
Hi Tina 💜 Ireland has always been more expensive than the UK but I think your now catching up price wise I live about an hour from Northern Ireland were there is an asda I must someday pop up and check the prices x
I've been wondering, as I have seen Scots, Welsh and English shopping trips and their prices have been incredibly lower than here in the States, and I have to say that your prices are still better than ours, especially the meats, for instance, our beef mince is more than your for .4kg, the carrots are about twice the price. I dehydrate them if I get a bargain. Oh, goodness, even water reconstituted juices are 3-4X the price of the squashes! 1.8 kg of sugar, (the most basic store brand beet sugar, not cane, ) is 3.10 euros. There was an after holiday sale on powdered, confectioner's sugar this week and I snapped up loads of it. .9kg of brown sugar is 2.51 euros, (again, store brand beet sugar). The Snack bags are easily 7 euros here. Just under 2 liters of milk is the least expensive way to buy and our whole milk is 3.29 euros. Eggs are 3.87 euros a dozen. When I say something on one of the channels, the British tell me that our wages are so much higher, however, where I live, minimum wage is equivalent to 7.04 euros per hour, and it is nearly impossible to get one job where you get a full 40 hours a week. (We are retired.)
Hi Tonette 💜 Thank you for the sum up I like hearing how much things are and that's shocking on the minimum wage. I've seen a few grocery hauls in the States and Canada, and my jaw drops at the prices. I wonder, is it because of import and transportation costs there or tax ? I think we're feeling it because of how quickly things have risen and how much cheaper things used to be. My weekly household costs are my biggest outgoings we have oil heating and its only on 5 hours a day ( split over a 24hr period) and depending on the prices at the pump it's between €65-75 a week (our boiler is old and not efficient but cant replace it yet) then electricity is between €35-45 a week and that's being strict but at this time of year I do need to back up the oil heating in the main room I'm in with an hour or so some days using an electric heater. What sort of prices do you have for heating and electricity? I'd love to know thank you again Tonette I love your comments always so informative. Have a great week lovely x
@@LindzandLife I've tried to give you a comprehensive answer and twice it disappeared. I will try again. I have no idea why our grocery prices are so high. Many farms are gone or not producing, but still, it's a big country. We are not even getting seasonal bargains, like lower squash prices in the summer. It is obvious that more is afoot. I wish I had the answers, (I can only speculate), but we will be brought to our knees by all that is going on. We are getting many shortages, like eggs, which are frightening in price,as well as beef, and everything, really. Just a loaf of bread is very high now. As for Canada, well IT being a big country is a problem, as they have a lot of land that is unsuitable for growing and even the rest has a short season, plus, their population is so spread out that transportation is a huge expense. What they, and many elsewhere have no comprehension of is the healthcare costs in the US. Most personal bankruptcies and home foreclosures are due to catastrophic healthcare costs, and it doesn't take much anymore. Employers don't hire full-time and part-time employees they cannot get health insurance through them. Personal policies are not affordable for most people. My personal policies that help cover what my retirement (Social Security and Medicare) don't cover keep going up, and what they don't cover or I have to pay part of is crazy. Where I am, the rest are terribly high and there is no upkeep on the properties/flats. You heard about California, I am sure. They canceled the homeowners insurance recently. They were not just rich people there. The wages are high there but houses are expensive and there are regular folk just working, trying to keep up, and now what? Actually, they canceled my homeowners insurance here in a lousy little place in Kentucky where I have been stuck for 30 years, and we are searching for a new company. Wish us luck; this house and what is in it is all we have. We have an all-electric home and we pay about .12 euro per kilowatt hour; it's much higher elsewhere. Some houses here have propane(LPG) which it is 2.63 euros per 1.89 litres. There are no natural gas lines where I happen to be, which is a shame. I like it for heating and cooking. Heating oil is 2.89-3.85 per 3.78 litres here, (I looked and it is 4.81 euros in Massachusetts, where it is cold). It's terribly cold here today and we had some unexpected snow again. All my best to you.
Hi happy new year hope your well I ,go to Costco it’s getting to deer I’ve found grate store farm foods was what bargains try and check it out big bags pork prawns and delicious lopster good prise to I got three for my girl friends birthday party she is filapino and good cook loves them I also have local shops I go to like kiddies but if you have farm foods give it a go love to hear what you think one you pay by credit card you get delivered lots of price of you groceries kelp going kind regards Malcolm
@geogen1426 I thought so too it was too bright with the blind open even though its been fairly dark out today, so I'm thinking I need to add some lighting behind the camera I'll be a pro at this one day 🤣x
Love these videos. When I am feeling meh, I watch a few in a row for a mood boost.
