Absolutely fantastic piece of kit. So glad that I jumped on it when the Beta announcement was made. The flashlight is great when searching in murky water, super bright.
Nice overview. I got the Accupoint on Tuesday, but haven't had a chance to use it yet due to work and bad weather. I think now I'm almost totally up to speed after your video, thanks
I like my accupointer I think the weak spot is the display screen I'm not sure how long that screen will last without being scratched up I mean I have it covered in mud sometimes one thing for sure my Garrett Garrett is in my backpack and not far from reach but so far the Accu pointer been great
Deff should of tested the same way you did the edge side for the flat side. Will you test small pieces of gum wrapper foil. My garret out of all my garret pointer will pick it up and my others won't. A big pain when the detector picks up the foil and the pointer wont. Great test!
We will be featuring the Accupoint in all future hunts. I'll keep both pinpointers on my dig belt so I can verify for both of them on tiny targets. I am liking that it appears that only the tip of the Accupoint is hot compared to the sides of the Pro-Pointer, so any difficult direction holes I will compare as well to see if one functions better than the other in the field.
Unfortunately, this is more lazy air testing over concrete with potential stray metal. The test should be done over soil. The Pinpointer should be utilized before the target item is placed down to prove that it is not triggering on any masking or stray metal items in the ground, and then the test should be conducted.
The Nokta Accupoint has an operating frequency of 20 kHz and uses Very Low Frequency (VLF). The Accupoint also has a frequency shift setting with three different options to prevent interference with nearby detectors.
a great review. have a normal nokta pp, & had 9v battery die on me yesterday. Went to van to get anothe battery.....that was dead too🤦luckily shops werent far away. The C type plug will do away with that
Hey Cody Thanks for the review I’ve been waiting to see reviews on this and you are the first I’ve come across. I have to say I don’t think I’ll be ditching my carrot just yet! One very simple reason is the one touch sensitivity change with the Garrett compared to having to scroll through a menu to change sensitivity on the acupoint, it seems cumbersome. That’s my honest opinion from what I’ve seen here. As for depth there doesn’t seem to be much difference but I guess the real test will only be in the soil on real targets. The battery is definitely a plus however I can’t say that keeping a spare battery has been a problem for me but forgetting to charge the thing the night before is something I could do! 😂 Of course like with every machine once you get used to it it’s not a problem. I’ll be watching with interest how you find it after using it for a while. Thanks again. Happy hunting from Ireland!
We tend to go out for 4-6 hours everytime, so at most we get 3 trips out of each 9v battery. Between our 2 carrots, that's 2 new batteries every 1-2 weeks. In just a few months that adds up to the price of another Pinpointer for us, so we're hoping the rechargeable Nokta helps eliminate that expense. Lots more options to play with in the field, we'll update once we get more time with the 🍌 during our actual hunts.
As far as size, we can find really really small metallic objects. Things like a piece of thin aluminum foil, down to like 1-2mm. Even just the tiny back to an earring. A good detector like the Minelab Equinox will let you dial sensitivity as high or low as you want it, and once you start understanding the signals you can usually tell without digging if it is a common junk target like a removed pulltab from an aluminum can. The detector can find items regularly anywhere between the surface and 10-15" deep. The pinpointers will help you track the exact location as it beeps faster the closer you get to the target, and sensitivity can be adjusted on them as well. We started this as a curious hobby and have been thoroughly impressed on how well they work in bringing you to things other people can't see and have no idea they are down there. Coins, Jewelry of all types of values, old relics from the 1800s, these machines will give you access to these hidden items millions of people just walk past while being oblivious to having them right below their feet.
@@UndergroundMetalDetecting Nice. I am in Alaska and was curious if it could detect gold in a rock or something like that. I pan and do find some stuff. but would love to find a nugget. lol
Well, it detect a less than 1 carat diamond studded earring in white or yellow gold without the backing post or butterfly back attached?! Cheers, #SeatteRingHunter
Gold is metal, so yes it will. We have found items much smaller than an Earring stud or earring back both with our detectors and our pinpointers regularly
@@UndergroundMetalDetecting I appreciate your response, but it is knee-jerk and reactive and only general in your response. I’m looking for a very specific application and unless you have tested it, I doubt that you really know the answer to my question. Demonstrate it with a video as most fail with the specific scenario as I have suggested. I am an experienced recovery technician and I am doubtful the Accupoint will detect a small diamond stud under one carat like 1/4 carot diamond size for white or yellow gold with small prongs. Of the five major brand pin-pointers that I have tested recently only one passed the test, Minelab Pro 40 I was shocked the Gerrit carrot didn’t perform better. Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter
@@UndergroundMetalDetecting earring back don’t count to my specific query as those have more metal and yes, a handful of detectors will detect those and no, that’s not the valuable item that most people care about when they lose a stud earring they’re looking for the diamond stud earring with the ear shaft the back is lost and can easily be replaced. There is less gold or precious metal in the stud earring portion and it is a very difficult challenge for most of the PIN pointers to even see them. I know because I’ve done extensive testing on this .
@SeattleRingHunter if there is ANY metal in a small object the Accupoint will find it. I have researched in a hole after retrieving my coin or other target and after still getting a signal with the Accupoint - ended up finding tiny pieces of a very thin nail, paper thin iron flakes, or even tiny scraps of aluminum foil - like 1mm x 1mm fragments. If it beeps, we dig and sift until we find the target.
Are you going to show the pointer working with bluetooth headphons and a bluetooth metal detector if you have one to see if you turn on the pointer if the metal detector stops and the pointer take priority and when the pointer is switched of the metal detector takes priority
I don't have the time to make a video, but my feeling after having had both in hand is that the Garrett seems much more solid, its start-up is much quicker, sensitivity is identical and discrimination is no longer perceived as a gadget, since Minelab has already tried this on one of its models and it didn't increase sales... Since marketing has taken over in R&D offices, we've really come up with anything and everything. I really feel like the gun in Beverly Hills Cop 2, you know, the microwave radio CD rocket launcher flame thrower gun ah ah ah ...
Well at least you are one of the first to admit to using both instead of only the Garrett Pro-Pointer AT and claiming it to be the best. My take is this: if they are both the same price, why pay $130 for the same 2008 base model in 2023, if the fully equipped 2023 model costs the same price? I hope this provokes Garrett, Minelab, and XP to offer new pinpointer models to remain competitive.
So far I see audio low and high (volume), 1 tone for all, iron discrimination (where it will ignore an iron target) and 2 tones where it has an interrupted alert for iron, but a solid tone for non-ferrous. At the moment I do not see a pitch audio select option.
Ok , I’m a Nokta user , both the Simplex and the Legend but …. Something is amiss. I use the Garrett Carrot and on the maximum setting ( three beeps ) it will detect a quarter 0-8” away. On medium about 0-4” and on low 0-1.5”. As far as battery life, I’ve put 3 batteries in it over the last year and 2 months. Yes , batteries can be a pain but I don’t have to have two tethers for it when charging the battery. The only thing I don’t like is the Garrett doesn’t have a volume control. Don’t get me wrong, Nokta has a good product but I’ll keep my Garrett for now.
Air tests are a little funky to get smooth results, which is why a lot of people dismiss them in reviews. We detect a few times a week and had horrible results with the cheaper brand 9v batteries. Hoped switching to the Good Duracells would get us some more life out of them, but they were still starting to crap out midway between the 3rd outing with a brand new battery. Been through at least 6 battery changes on these since May of this year so the battery costs add up. Hoping for much better handling of power with these being USB-C rechargeable.

Oh I totally understand your frustration and the economic situation. From what you’ve mentioned, I’m just wondering if perhaps you have a defective product. That or QC has lowered the quality of the product. I use my unit for two hours at a time about 3 times a week and have only used 3 batteries in a years time. I do however only operate it on the mid or low setting. I don’t like it not having a volume control but that was an easy fix by covering the speaker with a wrap of electrical tape. Who knows, maybe when the Carrot dies, I might consider the Nokta pointer. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the matter. Happy hunting, be blessed and stay safe.

Thanks for watching! We started this journey with 2 Garrett 🥕s, and while they got the job done, one of the biggest drawbacks for us was constantly having to replace 9v batteries. If Garrett offered a rechargeable unit, that would have been the logical direction for us to go for brand familiarity. This is our first Nokta product but we could not pass up jumping on the early access beta test to get our hands on one. We hope to see other manufacturers stepping up with competing rechargeable pinpointers and we will happily obtain and compare them as well.
Sorry I watched first the 12 minutes, and wrote than. Is the Nokta pinpointer the beta or the final version? I have the Garrett too, but what I see in deepness is almost the same with Nokta... That is no reason for the buy...
@johannesschneider8022 our pinpointer is the 2nd and final version produced during Beta Testing, which will match the production models exactly. Depth through the ground has shown to be deeper than the Garrett could reach on targets before digging. This means more accurate plugs (not as wide). These are USB-C rechargeable, meaning no more replacing 9v batteries after every 3 digs or so. These also offer 3 different frequency shifts, a brighter flashlight, comes with 2 replaceable tips, and has iron discrimination settings so you can focus on the good target and not the iron nearby. All of these offer increased efficiency in the field. The power meter also means no more guessing on battery power like in the Garrett's. We have been waiting a long time for a pinpointer to offer these features and are grateful to finally have them with the Nokta Accupoint!
