...and they never actually sexualized her. She was always strictly PG - remember all those seduction scenes from the very definition of a femme fatale? Yeah, me neither.
the Slave Leia costume is sexualized... but that's the whole point, to humiliate her. it's a way to show how sick Jabba actually is. it absolutely served a purpose. and the fact that she used the very chains of her bikini to choke Jabba to death makes it all the more poetic.
+wizzzer1337 Actually, according to the costume crew of the movie, the actress was complaining in both first movies that she isn't getting to show off her curves. That revealing costume was the result of her whining through 2 movies.
+Eqvil Would someone please tell Scarlett J., Kaley Cuoco, and Jennifer Lawrence, just to name the first three that come to mind, to PLEASE follow Carrie Fisher's example and get with the whining already?? You make it sound like like that was a BAD thing to do!!!!! I beg to differ, buddy!
+wizzzer1337 you are a genius, I wanted to say it but you just had the perfect words ready for it. Thanks wizzzer. And also, this list is complete garbage, I can find an excuse for all of the roles I know on that top ten, in the 5th element, she is barely naked 'cause she's been made by a machine, she should have been naked, when a machine build a human, you wanna have a look to make sure you didn't create a mutant filled with cancer. And also she is the perfect human being, it's in the plot, thats why bruce will... Corben dallas is attracted to her, that's why she need to be sexy... well she wasn't very sexy except for the white bands at the begining. Sexyness is not being barely naked, it takes a lot more than that. And also in that weird movie with bugs bunny and nba stuff. Do you know what bunnies do a lot ? a little hint, it's adult stuff. So yeah bunnies have sex a lot, it doesn't surprise me they would enjoy it So if we need a lady bunny, gotta make it sexy. Bugs Bunny would be a pimp if children wasn't watching him all the time.
10. Leeloo didn't "strip naked" -- She was recreated from a sample of genetic material, and last I checked, people don't come with clothes built-in, so yeah, she was naked. We're all born naked. She was reborn naked. Deal with it. 9. Halle Berry took a huge wad of cash to show her breasts in Swordfish. It WAS the primary advertisement for the film at the time, if anyone recalls. Her character existed solely to be a sexy "draw" for the audience and the protagonist. 8. So your whole argument is that you think Denise Richards is not as smart as her character, Christmas Jones, and that is what makes her over-sexualized as opposed to any other nearly naked (or sometimes completely naked and covered in gold) Bond girl? But it's okay for Pierce Brosnan to play a secret agent with amazing fighting skills even though he probably couldn't fight his way out of a preschool. 7. It was the late 1960s! EVERYTHING was sexualized, and Raquel Welch wasn't exactly known for her amazing acting talents. The movie was meant to be a sexy, exploitative, dumb vehicle for Raquel's boobs and legs. If anything, she was exactly what the movie needed her to be: Marketable. 6. While I'm no fan of the unending slave Leia cosplays out there, the costume and situation itself were NOT out of place. She was a captured and turned into a SLAVE concubine and dancing girl. What would you expect her to wear? She WAS being exploited because THAT is what a crime lord would do with a beautiful prisoner. It was a display of Jabba's power and his ability to surround himself with beautiful (and dangerous) members of every species... As for it compromising Leia's strength, remember it was that slave outfit-- notably the chain-- that made it possible for Leia Organa to kill the #1 crime lord in the galaxy after he'd ruled for many long decades. 5. First of all, Black Widow's uniform isn't "leather". From Marvel.com: "Her costume is composed of a kevlar-like substance designed for maximum protective qualities." and second of all, her costume is no more tight in the butt or chest than Cap's or Thor's, and Hulk is running around half-naked, so just shut up. She's no more exploited than any of the men, and don't give us that "male power fantasy" bollocks, either. The men are dressed that way to be appealing to hetero women/gay men. The women are dressed that way to be appealing to hetero men/lesbians. That's how it works. Oh, and as for the long pauses, they did the same with Cap when he was working out. Again, you're only seeing the exploitation where you want to see it. 4. You're whinging about how pixies dress now? Look in any old book about faeries. They wear those little pixie outfits. They are often depicted naked, too. In Barrie's story, Tinker Bell is illustrated wearing the SAME OUTFIT and it was released in 1904. Again, you're really stretching on this one. 3. Jolie played the character as it was originally written. That's not "unnecessary". That's pretty much necessary, in fact. If they'd changed the character from her source material, they'd have been making a different movie about a different character. 2. Okay, yeah. Lola Bunny sucks. However, she was a weak sort of homage to the "yowza!" types of female characters seen in the old Loony Tunes shorts. She was just clumsily made and stuck in a bad movie. Later versions of her improved her look and style just a bit. Honorable mentions: Dr. Marcus had one scene where she's in her undies, and it was done more to show what a wolf Jim Kirk is, rather than to sex-up Carol. Ripley was in her underwear like EVERYONE ELSE ON THE NOSTROMO. Just because she looked better in her undies than Harry Dean Stanton did doesn't mean she was exploited. Esmerelda was purposely showing off in that scene. The Queen of the Damned is a vampire in a world where vampires and sexuality are intertwined and she's no different than Lestat or Louis in that regard. 1. Well, considering that Transformers is a total piece of shit anyway, and Megan Fox is a poor actress that only existed in that film to titillate Michael Bay, I have to disagree. Megan Fox was cast in that bad movie BECAUSE she's all tits and legs. Bay didn't hire her for her acting skills, and the character wasn't created to be any sort of useful, intelligent help to the equally useless and annoying Sam character. The human characters are just eye candy, comic relief, and pointless wastes of space in a movie that is all big explosions and quick close-ups of metal and skin. Oh, and she was supposed to be a SENIOR in high school in that movie. In most midwestern states, she IS of legal age and not "jailbait" by any stretch. She was, in fact, supposed to be 17 or 18 if I recall correctly (and I'm NOT rewatching that crappy movie to find out). This was a terribly stupid list.
+Nix Nightbird. Glad you made this. I stopped watching at Tinkerbell. Any more forehead slaps and I would have knocked my own head off. I'll go on record to say that this is the worst watchmojo list I've ever seen. And I was looking forward to seeing a sensible list about why sexualising characters is a cheap way to propel movies forward, but this was such a bad list of examples.
Nix Nightbird They probably meant the scene at Cornelius's apartment when she changes clothes in front of them. but i definitely do not agree with a lot of this list.
leeloos bandages were, as explained by the scientists, thermal bandages.. whose purpose was to cover and heat the newly formed vital organs. the supreme being is, as the scientist claims.." for lack of a better word, perfect". the audience needed to see the perfection. Leia was not sexy. she was cringeworthy. it was intended to make the audience uncomfortable . and solidify jabas character as sleazy.
excellent intelligent comment. well said. mojo sucks. I'm more entertained by the moronic lists lately. I don't think they even watch movies . just the trailers for fluff facts. they are clearly clueless about plots and character development . they've gotten very sloppy.
Lol you and I both know that the context was completely different. Bugs did not have any of his genitalia alluded to while she had double d's still funny though but you're smarter than that.
MrQw34ful that's funny you'r pointing this out. Why was lola character in need of clothing since she is a bunny and that other animals character were naked? In order to humanize her as a sexy figure. You can't sexify a animal character, first yoy have to make it almost human, with clothes. So, yeah, sexy too much, for no real reasons...
Zibetta Alix In Howard the Duck, there is a scene with a female duck lying in a bathtub, and she has actual boobs. That's fricking scary! Cartoon animals are often naked because we don't consider a naked animal to be sexualized. But like you said: humanizing their figure makes them more like people. And Lola was humanized to make her more sexualized. That is just bizarre, even if it was done for laughs.
Yeah. It wasn't even like they revealed much skin or put Scarlett's zip unnecessary low. If you want to shame any comic film, shame DC's Justice League for filming up Wonder Woman's skirt. Marvel kept everything civilised with Black Widow.
Plus it's literally because of her backstory as a russian spy. She was trained in seducing people for her country's benefit, as was actual spies in real life.
Black widow was inspired by the Russian women's spy operation that specialized in seduction during the cold war. It's absolutely an integral part of the original character.
Just keep in mind that these lads believe that wearing shorts is being "overly sexualized" - I'd not take their opinion as something informed or intelligent.
i really don't care if you're factually correct, i liked her outfits and all of the other ones on this list. i have a need and it can only be filled by more women in tight clothing and more cowbell
I agree with you, I mostly disagree with this list, there are tons of better examples, I agree with Transofmers, Swordfish and the bond movie, the sexualizing of the females doesn't fit, it fits on all others, I'd put the Star Trek one where the sexy blonde strips for no reason, I don't complain it just doesn't fit the narrative,
....Black widow? you specifically said "not characters intended to be sexy" Black widow was a spy who seduced men then killed them, thus the name, thus the sexiness. Really?
I was literally about to say that. Her character is meant to be sexy. She's a femme fatale and uses her natural beauty to seduce her targets before killing them. Why do they think they call her Black Widow?!
Kelin Kinin But she DID, because that's the entire point of her character. She was an assassin who seduced men and killed them. Her sexualization is just as important as Catwoman's. Maybe even more so.
ZadnoleyaEdits She was captured by a crime lord and made a sex slave. What did you think they'd put her in, a jumpsuit? It's not like she wanted to put it on, she changed into normal clothing after they escaped. God, this is such a stupid list.
Than the comics? OFC, but it could be even less you know ...? And anyways, Witch's actress reported on being annoyed at her costume, and that she wishes it was less revealing
Lelu didn't strip naked in front of everyone. That body had just been created for her. It was brand new. Bodies don't typically come pre-installed with clothing.
hilarious response... while we are on the topic of talking about what is necessary, why even make films in the first place? ENTERTAINMENT and storytelling is unnecessary, after all. Why even bother with such things? So unnecessary.
They sounds like isis or taliban..don't get me wrong but i am just hating this video..any person with normal mind will never agree..this mentalitysucks actually
Angelina Jolie simply portrayed the character just how it was in the games of THAT period. Trust me, no one played the games for the action nor the story.
@@mariasalinas8662 Still, that's not the point. The point was to present oversexualized movie characters. The fact that they chose some characters that are supposed to be on par with the depictions of the original medium in which they appeared, is a mistake on their part. And Lara is actually way more dressed than most comic book or video game female heroines that also appeared in movies. Her clothes make no sense? How about Barbarella? Red Sonja? Vampirella? The entire DoA female roster? The MK and SF characters? And I hope they won't make a Metroid movie based on the more recent games. Or on Bayonetta.
A Bond girl needlessly sexy??? That’s like saying James Bond is needlessly trigger happy also scarlet has a tight outfit?? So did 99% of the mcu including the men
belovedbattlesword thank you! don’t call black widows costume tight when the star spangled man with a plan looks like an american flag barfed all over him
Margot Robbie in The Wolf of Wall Street, Cameron Diaz in the Mask, Phoebe Cates in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct as well as Jessica Lange in the Postman Always Rings Twice come to mind.. The men and women in the movie industry play these roles and never seem to turn them down
Barnacules Nerdgasm Totally agreeing... Saying that they are "Needlessly Sexualized FEMALE Characteres" is a bit sexist (wich i don't care about being sexist). And I'm sure, that who came up with this video's idea, is clearly not sexist. And what's the next video's idea? Men that are too hot in movies? And I just realized cause of this video.... Damn that Thinker Bell is hot!
Barnacules Nerdgasm yeah.. I mean, how does one portray Catwoman without making her Sexy.. what's the point ?.. doesn't even make sense.. it goes against everything she is
Omg having Natasha Romanoff on the list is such a fail. Her suit is practical, it is just as skintight as Captain America's and Hawkeye's suits! You are calling her sexualized just because Scarlett is curvy, having curves is natural it does not automatically make her sexualized
***** She also doesn't use her sexuality to seduce anyone. At least not in that film. If they had said in Iron Man 2 or in CA: Winter Soldier, it would be arguable. But in Avengers, no.
L.A.C. Actually, she uses her sexuality as a weapon to extract Intel when she needs it. Seduction is a powerful tool in espionage. Her being sexualized is entirely justified.
alexano oneoone I agree. She does use her sexuality. She uses it in some movies, in comics and even in the tv show. But not in the Avengers movie, which is the movie WatchMojo is talking about.
I'm going to contest on Princess Leia, in that scene she has been enslaved, the outfit is meant to be degrading and insulting for her to have to wear, as well as angering for Luke as well, I'd guess. Hell, she even kills Jabba the Hut with it at the end of that part. She is also never shown in anything similar before or after.
AndyBeerSax Agreed I even saw a star wars documentary that said Carrie Fisher wanted to have an out fit that made her feel like a woman because she apparently was mistaken for a man by a few movie goers which seems impossible in my book because how in the name of the Force does someone think Princess Leia looks like a man. The documentary is called Star Wars The Empire of Dreams.
Follower of Aleksism In the beginning man was tasked with being the protector and head of the house. Husbands were supposed to love their wives to the point of being willing to lay down their own live if it came to it. Fathers and brothers were supposed to protect the fairer sex. Because man abused his authority, women took matters into their own hands when they saw the patriarchal society no longer protecting them, but exploiting them. The problem is that it went too far. Equal pay and the right to vote are good things, male bashing and abortion are not. But when you make statements like yours, you are certainly not helping to bridge the gender gap wars.
-Leeloo was just wearing the fashion of the time, every female character in that movie was dressed that way. -All Bond girls are sexualized.. just say’n. -Princess Leia was enslaved and exploited by the evil jabba the hut, the whole exploitation thing was part of the plot. (She wore a thin white outfit and no bra through the first film by the way..) -Natasha romonoff got an outfit for the movies that was far less skimpy than in the comics. The only avenger outfit they changed more was Hawkeyes outfit. Mikaela Banes is a 17 year old character, played by a 21 year old actress. You suck at thinking.
Upvoted. Add to that that fairys were never innocent creatures. they mean to be pranksters and they enjoy attention. In the ancient myths they were terrifying creatures that killed men just to have fun.
Actually I believe Sam and Mikaela were high school seniors in the first transformers film as they are in college at the start of the second. So that means she was 18 yrs old through that movie. Legal barely but still legal.
"The plot said she should be exploited." Plots have writers, they don't just magically appear fully formed. Princess Leia was in a gold bikini and chains because somebody wanted to see that. George even asked Fisher to go braless in the first one because "no bras in space."
@@ultrabigfella From her diary: '"Where am I in all of this?" ... I have to stay with the slug with the big tongue! Nearly naked, which is not a style choice for me. ... It wasn't my choice. When [director George Lucas] showed me the outfit, I thought he was kidding and it made me very nervous. I had to sit very straight because I couldn't have lines on my sides, like little creases. No creases were allowed, so I had to sit very, very rigid straight.' Citation needed. Where did Carrie say she liked the bikini?
The character name is latterly a spider which kills and eats her mate after procreating, I would think sexualization would be needed. Could you imagine the legitimacy of the character if they weren't provocative??
***** Hey now, to be fair to Esmeralda, that was part of the film. The whole scene was the spark that set Frollo on his crusade against gypsies and started his emotional turmoil that made him such a horrible villain.
Yea the man is right. Please explain THE FUCKING DIFERENCE between black widow and cat woman. And also tomb rider was a comic even that it started as a game
I know right... Like the catsuit she wears covers everything and it's extremely functional. It allows for great flexibility, has an utility belt and the widow bites for shock effect. Natasha acts sexy, that was part of her training as russian spy, but just because some fanboys- and girls sexualize her doesn't mean the movie makers did it.
The entire male animated cast are buck nekkid. Lola having clothes only accentuates this awkwardness. Especially in the Unrated "Red Rocket" Edition DVD.
thats intersting. cause why can bugs be naked but she has to wear clothes over her chest and leg area? why is it okay to show a male bunny naked and a female bunny not. i always thought this was weird but would have gone down the "this is sexist route"
@@alexk7880 maybe it's because the female bunny is sexualize while the male bunny is plain. While bugs has no sexual characteristic at all. Lola has wide hips and even a boobs. While they would be on different places on her body she is more humanized and sexualized.
@@alexk7880 chill out. i was just thinking about an idea. cause there is a disticntion to be made about fictional charaters and real persons, and about humanized animals as well. cause the difference in how much human characteristic the get, does not seem unimportant, even though i am not sure why. And you are right, telling a women what to wear is wrong, but thats exactly what is done with actresses and fictional characters because they represent someone idea, and are not the choice of the fictional character or the real actress. so instead of going rage mode. discuss think and chill.
@@alexk7880 dude. Chill out. There is a difference in discussing about what different depiction represent or suggest and banning anything. As far as I see it, I haven't called for the banning of anything. Could you be less triggered? I am not an sjw by any stretch of the meaning. And your reactions are over the top. Watch some Peterson Rogan or Steven Pinker if you have the brains or watch some Trump. I would suggest you watch Peterson about expression and fertility or Bret Weinstein and his wife Heather heyen on Joe Rogan podcast. PS. Shimoneta? If you really think that's the case I wanna see you wearing panties of your face in public.
I would totally agree if it weren't for that last scene with her in her underwear. The sexualization of Ripley in that scene seemed even more exaggerated compared with how sexy in a non-sexualized way she was in the rest of the movie. I think the directors spoke about the purpose for the sudden objectification, but I don't remember their reasoning.
Sure, the Leia outfit didn't say a lot about her character, but it said so much about Jabba's character, and just how messed up he was. While it wasn't 100% necessary, it definitely wasn't needless exploitation.
I agree. Needlessly exploiting is showing for no reason other than to show it, such as their honorable mention in Star Trek. Leia's gold bikini was story oriented. Sure you could change it and it wouldn't change much, but it was put in based on the story, not thrown in for exploitation.
madison skylar that's the point. She manages to seduce a demigod into revealing his plan. This video is entitled needlessly sexualised women- but in Widows case if she weren't sexualised she'd be a pretty shit spy.
hamsterminator In the movie, she doesn't seduce Loki. She acts terrified by him when he calls her a mewling quim (meaning cunt) and says that he'll kill her, also spitting at her. He thinks that he has scared her, making him act arrogant and revealing his plans to her. Yeah, her sexuality helps her in interrogations but Joss Whedon sexualizes her when she doesn't need to be.
I've got news for you. All of the same smut and debauchery found in movies can be found in the bible. People are going to be people. Ever heard of a city called Sodom?
Otimo Compare to the original Esmeralda from Victor Hugo : the one of Disney is clearly sexualized. But, well, I suppose Disney didn't want her to be 16 and to have sex with a guy that doesn't give a shit about her. Not for kids, yup!
Otimo Well yeah, but it's not what is criticized. What we criticize is that the plot is entirely built around this sexualization. The character is only defined by two things: her body, and her love for Phoebus. That's all. For me, a girl is more than that. But you know, it's the same for almost every Disney princess ;) Compare with Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle, you'll see the difference.
Vincent Dorier That is comparing apples and oranges the main focus in Hunchback is Quasimodo and Frollo, I do agree that Phoebus and Esmarelldas romance plot should have been give a bit more attention but it was trivial. The focus stead were is was suppose to be which was Frollo and Quasimodo, that would be like if in Howls moving Castle they began focusing on Turnip Head. Also the early Disney princesses where all about looks but they stopped that when Beauty and the Beast came around.
I ran into this after having watched your list of the Top 20 Sexiest Female Aliens Ever. Granted, this was done five years earlier, but considering the 180 degree, neck snapping change in direction? I can't stop laughing!!!
I am totally against needlessly sexualized characters but most of these characters were not. I mean come on...complaining about Lara Croft wearing a t-shirt and short shorts that most young women wear? Or, the Black Widow in her typical outfit? Seriously, this seems to be more about a woman complaining about attractive females in movies.
Another one I really don't get is Tinkerbell....like really? I never saw Julia Roberts in Hook as overly sexualized. I thought she was beautiful but sexualized. Come on
ndfaithful's_son And fairies are typically depicted as naked. Tinkerbell only reflects the "fairy photo" images of the Cottingley fairies and modernized the outfit to that of the time period the movie was made.
ndfaithful's_son For real. tho. Lara is an athlete/explorer. She's wearing shorts and a tank top. That's called athletic gear. Is she supposed to wear a pantsuit so that shit can climb mountains? And Black Widow shouldn't even be on here because she is a super hero pretty much. And they said they were taking characters like her off. They went against their own rules. Matter in fact Widow's outfit isn't leather it's kevlar. It's fighting gear, it's tight so that the fabric folds don't restrict your movement. This list was fucking terrible
Star Wars did not belong on this list at all. Leia was a strong female character before, after, and during that scene, it made sense and was realistic for the situation, no over sexualization at all. There is nothing wrong with a little sexualization of a female character in fact I often think it is necessary for a story to seem realistic and Star Wars did it perfectly.
+KJ I'm with you dude. She's a strong, independent woman who is forced into a submissive, overtly sexual role which she rebels against. I mean she murders the person who did it to her to regain her independence. It's all wrapped up in character development. Yeah it was sexy but it definitely wasn't unnecessary.
probably mentioned somewhere in the fine print of the tourist brochures and "things to do" and "places to avoid and keep your liver and other bits intact and within your body during your stay"
+giveagoodsong actually carrie fischer asked for a skimpier outfit in the 3rd movie as she complained that with her other costumes being so long you could not tell "she was a woman." So while yes. your overall claim holds true that women are often put into more sexual situation than male characters, for this instance, they do not apply.
+indy6s I have heard about Fischer requesting costumes that show off her feminine assets. And I feel the slave girl outfit was the perfect choice for this. As some others have mentioned, she was placed in a subservient role to "steal her power", and she got it back by showing that women can kick ass, I mean she strangled someone who weighed at least 10 times what she did WITH HER CHAINS OF OPPRESSION! I mean you don't get a much clearer metaphor than that. So Leia was sexualized for character purposes, hence she does not belong on this list.
I was specifically looking for this comment as that's the first thing I noticed. Lola might have been sexy, for a cartoon bunny, but Bugs Bunny was basically ready for a porn shoot as he was completely naked.
that's the point, a cartoon character like bugs has nothing so sexual that he needs to cover. Lola instead is paradoxically made so sexualised exactly by the fact that she wears clothes, showing that she has something to cover, and getting you wonder what's under..
Agreed. It seems it is catering to a younger and younger mental group. I'd criticize sexuality in kids shows and family movies. But a lot of these were satires or humor, at a time when sexing up females was fun. After 20 years of exploitation, radical change and perhaps blatant sexism in the industry, I can understand the criticism. But it is a bit off here. Would make sense to make "10 Most Mistreated Female Characters in Film." I feel there's a difference between soft-core mistreatment or inappropriate content and hardcore offensive stereotypes. I've seen worse in pop movies.
"You know what would be super cool? Making a 10-minute video of chicks in skimpy clothing striking sexy poses to get a lot of views... and complaining about it the whole time!"
I disagree with the black widow one she wasn't all that sexualities at least not more than the average character in a movie. And the tight leather suit is a hell of a lot more practical and reasonable than the bikini that Wonder Woman wears.
Serena Darling Not that much more practical because tight leather makes it hard to move. You can't do a whole lot of fighting if you can't move too well. But in her defense, almost all superhero costumes are completely impractical for fighting. Wonderwoman's costume is a fucking joke.
Esmeralda was sexualized for a reason. The entire motivation of the villain wanting to kill her was because of his lust for her. If she was't hot, it wouldn't make sense.
I give WatchMojo credit for getting people to watch their video. However, when it comes to overly sexualized female characters they seem to have missed Lolita played by Sue Lyon and Masane Amaha of Witchblade.
OverControlGaming She maybe doesn't have the biggest ass in that video but Ripley is without a doubt the biggest bad ass of the video and i don't mean bad as in awful, i mean she kicks "ASS"
Hang on, hang on. Leia was 'needlessly sexualised? Are you daft? The golden bikini is clearly worn because she'd been enslaved. Would Jabba, or any one who owned a slave, let them wear 'princess' clothing? No, it's slave clothing. Simple as. Not at all needlessly sexualised.
***** Actually, a good 70% of this list could be explained, clearly was just put together from someone who's a bit upset from showing a bit of skin, or someone in tight clothing.
***** havent seen it, but its a movie about a stripper, isnt it? This list as well has some dumb entries, since there's a difference between a character that is sexy by nature (since those people actually exist xD), and having a character who's only purpose is to have viewers jerk off to and nothing else, like Leia: she was a normal character who happened to be beautiful, but then episode 6 happened. Again, havent seen magic mike, but i guess there's a plot development around the fact that he is a stripper. Lara Croft is, by nature, sexy and sassy, so she doesnt belong on this list either
King CLAM yes and no. I could argue that I personally dont like the oversexualization of women, thus proving not all men do what you claim we do. Its a pointless conversation so... i'll just ignore you for the rest of my life :)
hol up. Your blaming scarlett johansson for the skin tight suit which is impractical??? Captain america is wearing a blue spandex shirt. Also what's you expect her to wear a suit of armor????
WatchMojo complaining about Tinkerbell's outfit, PUHLEASE! Considering that in most classic art depicting pixies and/or fairies most of the time they were completely naked or the next best thing to it (such as transparent clothing), id say they did great while at the same time maintaining the feel of the classic portrayals.
Number 5 is so out of place! I mean, do people really think Black Widow to have been (too) sexualized??? I mean, super heroes and heroines need to look cool and tight lether clothes make them (overall) look cooler! Like, Captain America and Spider Man have both super ridiculous super tight outfits! Thor doesn't lose a chance to take off his shirt! I mean, super heroes and heroines always had those sexualized clothes. She's no more sexualized than any other super hero. As a whole I do agree, however, that super heroes and heroines are sexualized, in reality those clothes won't be very pratical.......but this is fiction!!!!! And part of Black Widow's set of skill is her moderate sex appeal and I think in the Avengers she works that skill very well without being over sexualized.
I was gonna say, I was fairly certain that Black Widow's sexuality was an integral part of her character, in that she uses what she has to get the information she needs in her own way. Hopefully a comic book veteran can chime in here, because they're gonna know more than me about it for sure.
***** Besides, how does anyone at Watchmojo.com know what suit material does or doesn't work good for fighting aliens? Who has fought aliens? Watchmojo.com would you prefer she wore a pantsuit? I mean I'm sure Black Widow could, but really? lol
I would say the same about Black Widow. It's not only part of her design, she uses that to her advantage multiple times. Fun fact: She gets the name Black Widow from killing her targets after seducing them. Yes Natasha is sexualized, but tastefully so as it doesn't distract too much from her character.
Yeah, but Tomb Raider (the 2013 reboot) has a different Lara, a more believable (at least in that way...) person, and she's only got what, B cups in it?
A boiler suit, a hard hat and a few extra lbs/kgs would have been more appropriate for archaeology though, don't you think? You must always forget the source material when brining beloved characters to the big screen....apparently. Abide by the SJW rules or face castration you perverts!
Dude, I don't really read all of the comics (if she had one) or play all of the games... "A boiler suit, a hard hat and a few extra lbs/kgs would have been more appropriate for archaeology though, don't you think?" Yes but as far as I remember, she doesn't even wear those in the games either so... Would you think that I would be pleased by a women wearing "skin tight top and short shorts" in a big dark cave? No. I'm not into pervy stuff! Also, "You must always forget the source material when brining beloved characters to the big screen....apparently.", well, sometimes you just have to change the character because it would be too unrealistic. Well, appaerently, they decided to NOT do that with Tomb Raider, so we got this instead. You know, when you got a female lead, they just want to show you a liiiiiitle more than what you need...

robo4evar Maybe the first picks are reasonable, but complaining about Lara Croft or Black Widow for being sexy is stupid as fuck, they contradicted their own criteria. That being said, it's expected that if you fuck up in a video of this topic, you will be called out and grouped with the feminazis
+Sciencymiency I agree! GOD SEXUALIZED WOMEN so that men would be attracted to them, and pursue them in order that they both can fulfill "their" purpose on this earth...to "be fruitful and multiply". Anyone who has an problem with women being SEXY either has jealousy issues with other good-looking women or simply doesn't understand the NATURAL LAWS OF ATTRACTION which, by design, is always at play among the opposite sex within the human species. The natural human behavior that was embedded in your DNA my our CREATOR cannot be "OVERRULLED".... It serves a purpose far beyond any social experiment to convert and pervert man's natural attraction to women. For an example of how this doesn't work, all one needs to do is analyze the lives of Catholic priests. They try to deny their natural desire and attraction towards women. And when they fail, they seek to gratify their sexual desires among themselves, with other priest and by molesting young boys...while the Nuns indulge in lesbian acts with one other. Now, is that any way for "religious" people to act? Of course it's not. But, that's what happens when man (or woman) tries to pervert the will of the CREATOR: Perversion begets Perversion. So, relax, it's ok...Men Like Women. It's not the end of the world. In fact, that's how our world on earth began.
+Jake Osborne Even if God doesn't exist, women are still sexualized for the same reason. Reproduction. What's so wrong with it? Nothing of course, its simply other women being jealous of the "oversexualized" women. I'm really baffled that it's apparently a bad thing for men to be attracted women. It's not like these women are victims, they all get paid for these parts, and they take them. They are never forced, because we have these things called laws.
I Just want to point out that Esmeralda being sexy was literally a major part of the plot, and the guy who was being creepy and lustful of her was portrayed as a crooked evil bad guy. She was depicted that way because that's half the cause of conflict in this story. If she wasn't depicted like that, the bad guys motivations and obsession would make no sense. There was definitely a point for her to be shown like that
No.6 she requested it herself repeatedly getting turned down until eventually was told yes No.5 It wasnt needless at all she a spy who used her physique to get what she needed and make people underestimate her. No.1 they guy who had a massive crush on her was checking her out in the underhood scene This video is frustrating af
"As she wears incredibly short shorts and a crop top that hangs off her body" uuuuh... Lola is pretty much the only looney toon that actually wears clothes everyone else is just naked so why are shorts and a crop top bad again??
I would disagree with the Ripley honourable mention. Even though there are scenes of her walking around in underwear on the ship, I always found it specifically non-sexual and quite appealingly empowering. In fact, I would argue she's one of the strongest female characters I've ever scene in film. She was fully feminine and fully bad-ass and fully intelligent and fully human, without ever kowtowing to gender norms or stereotypes. Her walking around the ship in her underwear made a wonderful contrast to the brutality and heavy-handedness of the machinery and alien threats in her environment, showing that she was duly confident in her own abilities to handle whatever shit might hit the fan. It also portrayed how comfortable and in-charge she felt and was in that environment, the way someone will walk around their house in their underwear or naked without it having anything to do with sex or sexualisation, just as an expression of feeling safe and "at home" in their environment. It was like she was saying, "I'm off duty, there's nothing to fear at the moment, I might smoke a J or watch some telly or scratch my arse, because I'm alone and comfortable and in charge of my space."
She didn't feel "comfortable" in the environment just because she was walking around in underwear. The ship would've been really hot and she didn't need heavy, wet clothes holding her back.
Here are the ones that Mojo got wrong #10 Leeloo: she had just had a body created for her so ya she was naked. She is then placed in "bandages" that could be called skimpy, but after is put into overalls. I do not know about you, but overalls are not sensitization. #8 Christmas Jones: it is a James Bond film. Every character is overly stereotyped. If she was not sexy it would not have been a Bond Film. It would be like if Bond was Mexican not British #6 Leia: She was held prisoner on a desert planet by a perverted slug alien. It would have been weirder if she had been wearing what she showed up in. #5 Black Widow: The clothing she was wearing was on par with what all the male counterparts in the film were. In all truth her outfit was less revealing then what 2 of the men normally wore and the other 3 had films that showed them topless. Here is the one that was right for the wrong reason #3 Lara Croft: I will agree, but not for the reason they gave. Her outfit did match the outfit given in the 64-bit game that was based on rock climbers. When you look at rock climbers they wear similar outfits as Lara, both men a women. The part that she would get the list for is the unnecessary nude scenes throughout.
VengfulDarkness Actually, they pretty much got all of them wrong. Lola Bunny was sexualized because that's exactly what her character was supposed to be... The entire premise is about everyone lusting after her. That would be kind of weird if she wasn't sexualized... I've never even thought of Tinkerbell as sexualized... I mean, yeah, I guess that skirt is super short, but I always got more of a "mischievous kid" vibe from her... Megan Fox doesn't count because the entire movie was pretty much needless. I also just want to reiterate how idiotic it is to have black widow on this list. Hawkeye wore a "tight leather number", too. He even showed more skin than Black Widow.
elementblue780 ya, but I only wrote the ones that I felt there was no argument for. The ones I did not put you can at the very least come up with a reason for. Even if it is not a valid one.
Just like you nullified Black Widow I can nullify Lara Croft with the same argument: That one naked scene of that guy that was her "ex" in the movie sexualizes him more than Lara is sexualized in any scene of the two movies put together.
+Just another youtube-addicted person So you viewed Lola bunny as _"...'sexy'"_ and wish they would've made her _"beautiful"_ instead (but are quick to deny being into furries, even though no one even mentioned that in the thread). Closet furry detected.
No.5 really u gonna try complain that an avenger wore tight clothing really think about that one "not suitable for fighting aliens" I actually laughed at this
Exactly! They did it really clever and it helped to "develop" jabbas character, or to show what a sick dangerous freak he is... likes to freeze people and hang them in the living room. Same Thing.
Its not afraid, its a fact that sometimes you just don't need sex. This is a list of directors and writers thinking too much with their penis and not their cranial brain. There are some very long stretches in here, such as tinkerbell and Johansson, but why does Bond's nuclear physicist need to be in short shorts? With that body and face, they could have easily given her some tight clothes and every dude would still be whacking off to her. If that isn't good enough, give her tight jeans and tight shirt that shows a lot of cleavage. Still using sex, but it is under control.
it's not like they're given a choice to be in non-sexualized roles. let's be real: it's a lot easier to find work as an actress if you're willing to put up with unnecessarily sexualized roles
Riti Adrija NALUKURTI Black Widow was wearing a skin tight leather suit. A) Leather is a protective material. B) If something is skin tight it's far easier to move around in. C) It's less revealing than Captain Americas outfit...
The Fountain of Knowledge lmaooo you don’t know what leather is. “If something is skin tight it’s easier to move around” that’s kinda the exact opposite of what skin tight leather will do sweetie

Black Widow absolutely fits that "femme fatale" role they talked about in the beginning.
Yeah, that one was definitely a stretch
So does Lara Croft and any Bond girl, the list is a joke.
You actually had the sound on?
Having worked for the classic magazine Femme Fatales I find this post totally inaccurate.
...and they never actually sexualized her. She was always strictly PG - remember all those seduction scenes from the very definition of a femme fatale? Yeah, me neither.
The irony of this video is most people clicked on it to see sexualized women.

the Slave Leia costume is sexualized... but that's the whole point, to humiliate her. it's a way to show how sick Jabba actually is. it absolutely served a purpose. and the fact that she used the very chains of her bikini to choke Jabba to death makes it all the more poetic.
That was such a kick ass scene.
+wizzzer1337 Actually, according to the costume crew of the movie, the actress was complaining in both first movies that she isn't getting to show off her curves. That revealing costume was the result of her whining through 2 movies.
👏
Nix Nightbird You, sir, deserve so many thumbs up.
"Lola was wearing short, shorts".....Bugs was fucking naked!
Yeah, but he's male and that makes it ok... Somehow..
MrQw34ful This channel has gone feminist. It's a fucking Bunny, BUNNY! and Lola bunny is supposed to look like that to attract Bugs, for comedy!

Marvel kept everything civilised with Black Widow.
Black widow is a poor choice, the male characters are also overly muscled with skin tight suits.
Plus it's literally because of her backstory as a russian spy. She was trained in seducing people for her country's benefit, as was actual spies in real life.

Black widow was inspired by the Russian women's spy operation that specialized in seduction during the cold war. It's absolutely an integral part of the original character.
Listmaker was definitely too STUPID to understand such basic fact.
It was called the "Honey Trap"
Just keep in mind that these lads believe that wearing shorts is being "overly sexualized" - I'd not take their opinion as something informed or intelligent.
i really don't care if you're factually correct, i liked her outfits and all of the other ones on this list.
i have a need and it can only be filled by more women in tight clothing and more cowbell
Plus, she's hardly the only one wearing "needlessly tight and restricting outfit." Comic book heroes do that sometimes. Captain America anyone?
“Do you agree with our list?”
No, I do not
Why?
I do.
I agree with you, I mostly disagree with this list, there are tons of better examples, I agree with Transofmers, Swordfish and the bond movie, the sexualizing of the females doesn't fit, it fits on all others, I'd put the Star Trek one where the sexy blonde strips for no reason, I don't complain it just doesn't fit the narrative,
It's not needless.... sex sells and that's a fact.
....Black widow? you specifically said "not characters intended to be sexy" Black widow was a spy who seduced men then killed them, thus the name, thus the sexiness. Really?
It's watch mojo, they said Princess Leia was over sexualized
The Croaker She also wasn't really even that sexualized compared to a lot of the characters earlier on the list.
I was literally about to say that. Her character is meant to be sexy. She's a femme fatale and uses her natural beauty to seduce her targets before killing them. Why do they think they call her Black Widow?!
The Croaker And is also funny how they left out of the list Catwoman from The Dark Knight Rises, who uses the same outfit
Kelin Kinin But she DID, because that's the entire point of her character. She was an assassin who seduced men and killed them. Her sexualization is just as important as Catwoman's. Maybe even more so.
WTF? Leia was a slave in Jedi... what else would you expect her to wear? A full pantsuit?
No, they would fined a way to complain about that too
It'd be more practical for working though.
Scott Ferrell there is NO underwear in space...
ZadnoleyaEdits But she was a sex slave
ZadnoleyaEdits She was captured by a crime lord and made a sex slave. What did you think they'd put her in, a jumpsuit? It's not like she wanted to put it on, she changed into normal clothing after they escaped. God, this is such a stupid list.
Black Widow and Scarlett Witch are actually under sexualised in the movies than the comics.
Than the comics? OFC, but it could be even less you know ...?
And anyways, Witch's actress reported on being annoyed at her costume, and that she wishes it was less revealing
That is EVERY female comic book character!

Angelina Jolie simply portrayed the character just how it was in the games of THAT period. Trust me, no one played the games for the action nor the story.
It’s funny cause She would die dress like that.
Bruh still, Lara is unnecessarily se x ualized like games or movie, her clothes just make no sense
@@mariasalinas8662 Still, that's not the point. The point was to present oversexualized movie characters. The fact that they chose some characters that are supposed to be on par with the depictions of the original medium in which they appeared, is a mistake on their part.

The entire DoA female roster? The MK and SF characters? And I hope they won't make a Metroid movie based on the more recent games. Or on Bayonetta.

But not in the Avengers movie, which is the movie WatchMojo is talking about.
alexano oneoone Also, her name is "Black Widow", ofcourse she'll use seduction.
***** Well they said that a James bond girl was needlessly sexy...lolThat's the entire point of a James bond girl
To add to that, it helps show Jabba's villainy. It certainly wasn't needless.
AndyBeerSax Also, it was Carrie Fisher that asked for a sexier outfit.

(She wore a thin white outfit and no bra through the first film by the way..)
-Natasha romonoff got an outfit for the movies that was far less skimpy than in the comics.

Citation needed. Where did Carrie say she liked the bikini?
Got a kick out of seeing Tinker Belle since Margaret Willcox, the original model for the animation, was a neighbor and friend of ours.
Johannson as Black Widow was the best decision ever made by Marvel, but i disagree. I don´t think she´s oversexualised
I've seen cosplay takes on her character that make black widow 5x more sexualized than how she was portrayed in the Avengers movie.
It should have been " ' " when you wrote she's
The character name is latterly a spider which kills and eats her mate after procreating, I would think sexualization would be needed. Could you imagine the legitimacy of the character if they weren't provocative??
Now do one for male characters!
OMG its Ruthless I really dont expect to actually see one, and if we do, it will be full of bullshit like half the examples on this list.
OMG its Ruthless I doubt they will do that. I'm pretty sure this channel is pretty much feminist.
OMG its Ruthless..uh can you think of any for a list?
Lord Vader If the channel was feminist they WOULD do one for male characters too..
Chr1pps Sadly that's not what modern feminism is. It used to be about gender equality, but now it became all about making women powerful and men weak.
5 years later... Sexualized characters are still needed. I'm always down for some more depth to a good story.
Ofc theyre needed but it just depends, sometimes theres se x ualization that just doesn’t make sense
No. 5 - WHAT?! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!
I was with you until THIS fucking choice.
***** TINKER BELL? REALLY?
SHE'S ONLY SEXUALIZED IF YOU GET INTO THAT!
I mean, I can't say no, but COME THE FUCK ON!
***** Hey now, to be fair to Esmeralda, that was part of the film. The whole scene was the spark that set Frollo on his crusade against gypsies and started his emotional turmoil that made him such a horrible villain.
***** Legal consent's actually 16 in a decent amount of places, so do YOUR research next time.
Um...
***** I was about to agree with you, then I saw this whole conversation, now I just want to know what the hell is going on
See Lola Bunny standing there in short shorts and a crop top!? How disgraceful!

+Azhi Dahaki Amg, someone else who uses ~tildes~ for action markers :p
Kat Von Sperling
I prefer using the asterisk but TH-cam changed that to put shit in *bold*.
+Azhi Dahaki Well, they said that the male characters were going to be covered in another vid :P
Black Widow? Really? So no to Cat Woman but yes to Black Widow. OK.
IKR. They even admitted it was toned down from the comics..
Yea the man is right. Please explain THE FUCKING DIFERENCE between black widow and cat woman. And also tomb rider was a comic even that it started as a game
Black Widow was originally a Russian spy and Cat Woman was a jewel thief.
According to WatchMojo they probably think Widow should wear baggy clothes. And sneakers. You know, for sneaking :-/
WatchMojo: We're excluding those characters that assume the classic femme fatale role.
Also WatchMojo: No.5 Black Widow
"We won't include fem fatales" goes ahead and includes Black Widow, lol.
LOL Lola Bunny at least has clothes on. Bugs Bunny is walking around NAKED.
Sometimes clothes can make things more sexual... Like a tease : ppp
Haha
Lol
The entire male animated cast are buck nekkid. Lola having clothes only accentuates this awkwardness. Especially in the Unrated "Red Rocket" Edition DVD.
Because Bugs Bunny is male it is not sexualizing
“Lola bunny’s shorts are too short.” Then shows bugs bunny literally naked next to her.
thats intersting.
cause why can bugs be naked but she has to wear clothes over her chest and leg area? why is it okay to show a male bunny naked and a female bunny not. i always thought this was weird but would have gone down the "this is sexist route"
@@alexk7880 maybe it's because the female bunny is sexualize while the male bunny is plain. While bugs has no sexual characteristic at all. Lola has wide hips and even a boobs. While they would be on different places on her body she is more humanized and sexualized.
@@alexk7880 can you give a link and a name of these? Cause I lonkto have source as I am at university. To use in future debate.

Jolie's outfit is the exactly the same Lara uses in the game...
Ellen Ripley an honourable mention? She was one of the least sexualised women in cinema history.
i agree: wearing underwear is not automatically sexualized. in this case its just dressed down, because she slept
Well, her ass crack was shown…
I would totally agree if it weren't for that last scene with her in her underwear. The sexualization of Ripley in that scene seemed even more exaggerated compared with how sexy in a non-sexualized way she was in the rest of the movie. I think the directors spoke about the purpose for the sudden objectification, but I don't remember their reasoning.
C c ljyyhuyLucy O'Brien
ElBloeTigre Also the film is about rape.
So this list was created 5 years ago and WatchMojo still hasn't created a Top 10 Needlessly Sexualized MALE Movie Characters? What's the hold up?
goodfellabeats you can’t be sexist to men are you stupid
good luck lmao
Duurp. Cause nobody wants to see that. Lol its called putting asses in the seats, not goodfellabeats wish list lol
@@bigcock9000 That's sexist. You can be sexist toward man, what kind of bullshit is that?
Number one: aquaman
Sure, the Leia outfit didn't say a lot about her character, but it said so much about Jabba's character, and just how messed up he was. While it wasn't 100% necessary, it definitely wasn't needless exploitation.
I agree. Needlessly exploiting is showing for no reason other than to show it, such as their honorable mention in Star Trek. Leia's gold bikini was story oriented. Sure you could change it and it wouldn't change much, but it was put in based on the story, not thrown in for exploitation.
RIP Carrie Fisher.
People: woman in movies are always so oversexualised
Meanwhile men in movies: always muscular
Alright, it was hard to watch before, but when I got to Tinkerbell, I had to stop.
Dread Naught Your profile picture goes perfectly with what you just said.
I know right I was like what the fuck they really ran out of ideas
Black widow shouldn't be in this list. Read a comic, she uses her body very often to get what she wants
Jay Garrick Yes, but Joss whedon seems to bring that to a whole other level.
+Jay Garrick like most women?
madison skylar that's the point.
MikeBNumba6 oh!
Tinkerbell?! Seriously?! Also, Denise Richards has the acting ability of a turnip, and Megan Fox has the acting ability of Denise Richards.
HAHAHA
leave turnips alone!!
This is meant to be visual entertainment, not the Holy Bible.
Doesent is need a bible to be decent.
I've got news for you. All of the same smut and debauchery found in movies can be found in the bible. People are going to be people. Ever heard of a city called Sodom?
I don't think I ever ACTUALLY knew the name of Megan Fox's character >.
+Ethan Smith I thought it was "hot chick"
+Jack Carver It might as well be for all the difference it makes.
+Ethan Smith Shea yells her name a lot in the series.
dumbfuck
I didn't know her last name.
#4 You know is a lot of tales fairies are naked because they are so innocent that the concept nudity isn't really an issue
Otimo Also how is Esmeralda mentioned? That was her show, a sexy dance and a key point to the whole story.
Otimo Compare to the original Esmeralda from Victor Hugo : the one of Disney is clearly sexualized. But, well, I suppose Disney didn't want her to be 16 and to have sex with a guy that doesn't give a shit about her. Not for kids, yup!
Vincent Dorier Yes she is sexualized but she isn't needlessly sexualized
"We're not including femme fatales, so here's Black Widow!"
+KJ i think we can all agree that the slave girl outfit that Leia wore looked much better on her than it would have on Luke, Han or Chewbacca
Lol Bugs Bunny has no clothes in the Space Jams scene! But the female bunny is the one you want me to think is being sexualized. lol
I was specifically looking for this comment as that's the first thing I noticed. Lola might have been sexy, for a cartoon bunny, but Bugs Bunny was basically ready for a porn shoot as he was completely naked.
@@saysoun752 Man, since he's naked his junk must be MICROSCOPIC huh? lol
@@saysoun752 wow, I was looking for this comment.. so was she, end of story!
Lol.... Dumb as Fuck
that's the point, a cartoon character like bugs has nothing so sexual that he needs to cover. Lola instead is paradoxically made so sexualised exactly by the fact that she wears clothes, showing that she has something to cover, and getting you wonder what's under..
I usually love WatchMojo... but this one missed the mark entirely.

Saif Abdulhay Interesting! Please elaborate.
I disagree with the black widow one she wasn't all that sexualities at least not more than the average character in a movie. And the tight leather suit is a hell of a lot more practical and reasonable than the bikini that Wonder Woman wears.
Sexualized
Serena Darling If you look her suit it isn't even leather.
Serena Darling They weren't meant to be counting femme fatales though. The men didn't really fair much better.
Serena Darling Probably because it's Scarlet Johanson performing and guys are drooling over her.
Serena Darling
Not that much more practical because tight leather makes it hard to move.
Yeah that was the epitome of necessity. This list is bonkers.
I give WatchMojo credit for getting people to watch their video. However, when it comes to overly sexualized female characters they seem to have missed Lolita played by Sue Lyon and Masane Amaha of Witchblade.
8:57 I've heard of girls that don't have a booty but this is ridiculous

Black Widow should not be here!! Halle Berry’s Catwoman or Harley Quinn should’ve been here instead.
Halle Berry's Catwoman was someone a but off her head who worked in fashion; good point about Harley Quinn - the leotard wasn't enough?
Hang on, hang on. Leia was 'needlessly sexualised? Are you daft? The golden bikini is clearly worn because she'd been enslaved. Would Jabba, or any one who owned a slave, let them wear 'princess' clothing? No, it's slave clothing. Simple as. Not at all needlessly sexualised.
***** Actually, a good 70% of this list could be explained, clearly was just put together from someone who's a bit upset from showing a bit of skin, or someone in tight clothing.
even Carrie Fisher hated it, you dumb fanboy.
Where in that entire comment did you get that I was a 'fanboy' you fool? Liking a series doesn't make you a 'fanboy'. You upset cause I made sense?
*****
you're talking about Jabba as if it were a character based on a real person and actual events.
No I didn't, I simply talked about him owning slaves, which he actually does. So try again.
I can't wait for the list of male characters! Oh, wait...
viKing1428 because women dont oversexualize men, maybe?
***** wow youve came up with one movie that sexualizes men. well done.
Pwasma Dwagon someone thinks women are different in that they dont do the same damn thing men do. lol

WatchMojo complaining about Tinkerbell's outfit, PUHLEASE! And part of Black Widow's set of skill is her moderate sex appeal and I think in the Avengers she works that skill very well without being over sexualized.
agreed. translates to sports too. having skin tight clothes is simply more practical for moving around
***** and she barely shows any cleavage
I was gonna say, I was fairly certain that Black Widow's sexuality was an integral part of her character, in that she uses what she has to get the information she needs in her own way. Hopefully a comic book veteran can chime in here, because they're gonna know more than me about it for sure.
***** Besides, how does anyone at Watchmojo.com know what suit material does or doesn't work good for fighting aliens? Who has fought aliens? Watchmojo.com would you prefer she wore a pantsuit? I mean I'm sure Black Widow could, but really? lol
***** Yeah, her "sexy" outfits (barring the black lingerie in the beginning of Avengers) are not that revealing.
Akasha being sexualized was on purpose. If you ever read the Queen of the Damned book her sexuality was part of who she is.
Lara Croft being extremely sexualised is what made Lara Lara, and also what made her so famous.
I would say the same about Black Widow. It's not only part of her design, she uses that to her advantage multiple times. Fun fact: She gets the name Black Widow from killing her targets after seducing them. Yes Natasha is sexualized, but tastefully so as it doesn't distract too much from her character.
Oh no! A woman running around a Tropical Jungle is in a tank top and shorts! She should be in a full parka in the 90 degree heat!
Yeah, but Tomb Raider (the 2013 reboot) has a different Lara, a more believable (at least in that way...) person, and she's only got what, B cups in it?
7:26 "...skin tight top and short shorts..." Umm, because that's what she kinda wears in the games?

My only issue was Princess Leia's entry. They really reached for that one because it made 110% sense and played a role in the plot.

There's never a reason to not be sexy
+Jake Osborne Libtard logic: Sucking dicks is natural, women being sexy is not.
+Sciencymiency "There's never a reason to not be sexy" What about a life or death situation where being sexy is simply a distraction?
+Jake Osborne Even if God doesn't exist, women are still sexualized for the same reason. Reproduction. What's so wrong with it? Nothing of course, its simply other women being jealous of the "oversexualized" women. I'm really baffled that it's apparently a bad thing for men to be attracted women. It's not like these women are victims, they all get paid for these parts, and they take them. They are never forced, because we have these things called laws.
***** suits are sexy u fuck
I Just want to point out that Esmeralda being sexy was literally a major part of the plot, and the guy who was being creepy and lustful of her was portrayed as a crooked evil bad guy. She was depicted that way because that's half the cause of conflict in this story. If she wasn't depicted like that, the bad guys motivations and obsession would make no sense. There was definitely a point for her to be shown like that

Cuz she’s the only one with boobs dumbass
I NEVER thought I'd get hot for a HAIRY Female....
It was like she was saying, "I'm off duty, there's nothing to fear at the moment, I might smoke a J or watch some telly or scratch my arse, because I'm alone and comfortable and in charge of my space."
chris kaprys her ass was so flat though it was mind boggling. True counter top booty
thespiritbomb exactly
She didn't feel "comfortable" in the environment just because she was walking around in underwear. The ship would've been really hot and she didn't need heavy, wet clothes holding her back.
As it. Turns out, dinasaurs did actually walk alongside humans-along with giants and other monsters-resulting from genetic sorcery or"blood rituals",,
shadow williams yea ok. Pass that to me next
Leeloo? Really?
Princess Leia? Really?
Black Widow? Really?
Tinkerbell? Really?
Hatch High Tinkerbell is hot
Marino Zajmi The fuck?
This is the most needlessly made video
Looks like Watch Mojo hired one of the BuzzFeed feminists...
TheBlackRanger I think you mean your self.
Probably that blonde chick who would take a bullet for feminism.
Good, hope they battle the meninists on the comment section...
"Because men deserve their own [list]".
Gtfo.
Jack Barton holy shit
Almost all the animated characters in space jam are "naked" yet you complain when they cover her up?
I never even thought about that. That's priceless. Lol
Here are the ones that Mojo got wrong
#10 Leeloo: she had just had a body created for her so ya she was naked.
It would be like if Bond was Mexican not British
#6 Leia: She was held prisoner on a desert planet by a perverted slug alien. It would have been weirder if she had been wearing what she showed up in.
#5 Black Widow: The clothing she was wearing was on par with what all the male counterparts in the film were. In all truth her outfit was less revealing then what 2 of the men normally wore and the other 3 had films that showed them topless.
Here is the one that was right for the wrong reason
#3 Lara Croft: I will agree, but not for the reason they gave.
+elementblue780 Lola could've been beautiful instead of ..."sexy" (furries aint my thing). Would serve the same purpose.
Just like you nullified Black Widow I can nullify Lara Croft with the same argument:
That one naked scene of that guy that was her "ex" in the movie sexualizes him more than Lara is sexualized in any scene of the two movies put together.
+Just another youtube-addicted person So you viewed Lola bunny as _"...'sexy'"_ and wish they would've made her _"beautiful"_ instead (but are quick to deny being into furries, even though no one even mentioned that in the thread).
Closet furry detected.
Black widow is a Heroine who distracts people by her Body
I didn't buy your explanation for including a Bond girl. Please.
No.5 really u gonna try complain that an avenger wore tight clothing really think about that one "not suitable for fighting aliens" I actually laughed at this
Cap's costume is basically spandex, have you ever wore anything made of leather?
Leia wasn't needlessly sexualized. She was made a slave by a gang lord, what do you expect?
Didn't mean she had to wear that outfit though
The outfit is a short hand representation of the indignities and demeaning things Leia was exposed to. It hints without needing to go into details.

Exactly! They did it really clever and it helped to "develop" jabbas character, or to show what a sick dangerous freak he is... likes to freeze people and hang them in the living room. Same Thing.
I’d like to see a lot of other female Star Wars characters in that brass bikini.
This list is BS. I am a woman and I feel half of these are wrong.
i swear to god its like people are afraid of sexuality, if the actor/actress is ok with doing the roll there shouldnt be a problem
