The Ramp Truck Gets a Blower! Burnouts for Days! Finnegan's Garage Ep.107

- It all began with a burnout and a dangling taillight. Back in Episode 95 we tried to do burnouts in a recent acquisition, this 1969 Chevy C50 ramp truck. It didn't go well. The truck ran horribly and wouldn't spin even one of the back tires unless we drove backwards at 10 mph and then slammed the Turbo 400 transmission into Reverse! While we don't recommend this sort of behavior, it was effective; the Ramp Truck smoked one rear tire right down to the cords. While awesome, it wasn't inspiring performance. We needed more power and we needed to fix that busted taillight. What was our solution? Installing a Weiand 6-71 blower and dual Holley 750cfm "double pumper" carbs atop the 454!
Is our engine built for boost? Nope. Are our brakes, suspension or chassis up to the task of harnessing the newfound power? No way! We did it anyway and now thanks to a lot of hours in the garage and some custom fabrication and wiring we now have a reliable, functional and badass looking hot rod hauler that smokes tires with ease.
In this video not only will you see how we fit the massive supercharger under the stub nose hood of Chevy's medium-duty truck, but we'll also give you tips on fabricating, ignition systems, and how to get your nasty chassis clean with a brand-new product from CRC Industries.

My favorite burnout was when I was a kid my father and I took his dump truck up to the dealership to get a diesel. The dump we were in was a Ford with I believe was a 460 4spd the tach went to 4 grand I'm like dad see if you can get the dual wheels to spin. They spun so Efn hard he brought it to redline come off the clutch the truck did NOT move the ass end started to drift sideways and quickly smoked the street out. I've had some badass cars since then but my best memory was me and the old man burning the dual wheels it always makes me smile thinking bout that day...
I had a similar experience riding with my grandfather in his 57 ford mainline ute. I was probably only 6 or 7 at the time but can remember him looking over at me and saying "watch the back wheels race the front ones son" and he proceded to go full dukes of hazzard down the dirt back roads. Flippin awesome!.

Here in Denmark we use copper brakelines, when the factory steel lines rust and breaks. Then its only the rubber parts you need to think on.
I don’t even think you can buy steel brake lines in any store in Scandinavia? I would never install steel break line. My Renault r4 came with it standard, never have I change the brake line but the rubber hose, it’s 1974...
Theyre cunifer here which is a copper nickel alloy and really good for the job and better than steel lines. Copper itself is not safe if they meant pure copper lines.The US has NiCopp and other brands which is the same material but a different brand name.
In the northern US and Canada, it is common to find copper brake lines as well, for the same reason. I can't remember where that truck came from, but it's doubtful that Chevy used factory copper lines.
It's so cheap now, I do all replacements in stainless. Once you get good a bending it's not bad.
I love how you guys will do carberated stuff. The TH-cam car guys act like its ancient technology when they see it. Hell yeah to the old school car guys

I’m tired of seeing these comments. It’s because it shows up on people’s recommendations and all they have to do is hit the three dots and click not interested. Then TH-cam automatically dislikes the videos so it doesn’t recommend things like this.
Ignore all other comments, it's because the mobile interface of the TH-cam video has the like and dlslike buttons very close. Most of the dislikes you see are because of that reason. It also happens on the PC variant with a missed click. Who would ever think that it would be so difficult for a multibillion dollar company's devs to ... you know, move the buttons at opposite sides of the screen. You know, like paddle shifters.
Again, any other explanation you get is incorrect, this is the right answer. I'm sure you've clicked like once or twice and missclicked it to dislike, sometimes you know, sometimes you don't even know.
@@frankyalvarez7160 Incorrect. There's absolutely no reason for any app to work in that fashion, especially with a user choice. The reason is that on mobile interfaces, the buttons for like and dislike are too close. Fat thumbs don't like that kind of mingling.

ran into the same issue with my motorhome 454 with the heads when i scored a weiand tunnel ram for $100, spent days porting the heads out and rounding hard edges that i couldnt take out, worked good enough to split the th400 casing and break the flexplate all the way around, now has a motorhome th400 to lol

I had a black 94 thunderbird at high school that had T-Bizzle on the windshield. Had loud pipes, 2 12s 800watts rockford fosgate, 17x9 cobra r wheels, 373 gears and limited slip diff. Was a fun car for a 17 year old. Everyone called me T Bizzle

I like using the nickel copper brake lines. They never rust out like the others and are easier to bend. If you’re in a rust area then you will understand.

The use of thick-walled high pressure copper or brass brake lines is a necessity for longevity in the salt belt. And thus it becomes safety mandated.

Advance auto sells copper coated brake lines in my area. I've had a set on my old farm truck since 2013 with no issues!

Great video. Everything is better with a blower on it. I'm building a Chevy inline 292 with a 4-71 blower and 3 deuces, billet crank, 5 stage dry sump and Electromotive direct fire ignition. Tremec TKO 600 and Frankland quick change rear end. It's going in my 53 Chevy half ton pickup. I would love for you to take it for a spin someday. Keep them coming I learn a lot.

Copper brake lines are the bees knees. Specially in the rust belt. Don’t corrode as fast, don’t kink as easy, easier to bend and form, and looks cooler.
