    Hey everybody, news flash: armor works. This is why the European knight was such a force of warfare right up until the widespread utilization of handheld gunpowder weapons.

    Wow! Armour that actually works! And it was great seeing enemies trying to use actual anti-armour tactics.

    Love how he just ignores the swords hitting his back 😂 He is invincible, but I don't envy the slow roasting in the sun in that armor

      Honestly, all it takes is a good open field for this kind of video, and some tents as shown here. Believe me. For a small assignment of my VFX course, I searched around for a good spot near my home, and it met my requirements. Enough space for natural light, but some trees to fill in the background. Then from there I just did what I had as idea, and did pretty decent for a first timer.

    This is why you should always carry a can opener on the Medieval battlefield! ;) I liked it guys, very entertaining! :)

    I am normally a big fan of your movies and feel sad that I am going to pick at this.
    Firstly the good things. The sets and most of the costumes looked pretty good, thank you for having colours, not just black and mudstained brown. Some of the leather armour was purely larp grade for being hit with foam weapons. Most of the fight choreography was not bad - especially the wrestling and the trying to use a rondle dagger properly.
    The biggest criticisms involve repeated edge hits to armour plates instead of trying to swing or thrust at maille covered joints. The fact that there was way to much focus on the heeled and rubber soled boots of the final victim and then the knight left without a sword.
    This is still way better than anything that I have managed to shoot, but it could have been better. Still, I am sure that you will wow me with your next film.

    Very good! I’ve always wondered how you guys do the scenes where someone gets stabbed, it looks so real! (even though you probably use stageplay swords) also I can’t imagine how heavy it is to wear all of that armor, I myself just own a steel Elias short cuirass, gorget , and large spaulders 😂

    • @ModernMarineFilms

      We’ve had a couple of different methods, most of which consist of classic camera angles to hide us safely passing the blade to the side of an actor if it is steel. If it is a rubber weapon those can typically be closer to a true stab. Movies and TV productions nowadays are actually even using CGI to shortened blades, though of course we don’t have that kind of capability.

    In an actual fight he would have lost the second he hit the ground, pile on top of him, pry open the face plate and stab away

    I love a lot of you’re video but this one is not realist for me.
    Even Best armor don’t cover every. They don’t attack him in the armor venerability. It’s not the knight Who is invincible but ennemies who are very slow and attack without thinking where it’s Best to attack.
    Maybe it’s the black but the armor is too clean at the end of the battre for having kill 10 percent.
    The knight of hope is clearly more realistic

      Well safety is our first priority, so the goal is to have fun more so than make it look 100% realistic

    • @steelwarriorfilms
      @steelwarriorfilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      safety is our first priority when we make our films. We’d rather be have a ton of fun and be safe than do something that would potentially hurt someone. I purposely told everyone to be careful when hitting :)

    • @Mkenran
      @Mkenran 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@steelwarriorfilms I get that, but you can make it look way more convincing just with proper stance alone. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't get larpers for your fighters

    • @ModernMarineFilms
      @ModernMarineFilms 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mkenran oddly enough I’m the only larper in this video and I’m the one trying to stab the knight in the eye slit. Hollywood (and us) use a fight to tell a story, not necessarily to reenact an actual event. In this case we see the experienced fighters who know how to fight an armored knight try their best to dispatch this knight quickly but fail at their attempt leaving the inexperienced to meet their demise. But if you’d like to support us in obtaining more equipment or to have longer shoot days where we can explore more detail like that please feel free to donate to our next project!

      Good thing entertainment and the safety of our actors is the goal and not realism otherwise I’d have several less actors if we were completely authentic 😉
