I am so damn tired of car makers charging for colours other than, usually, white, black or silver. The german makers started the heinous trend years back and it is absurd....with rare exception one colour does not cost that much more than another and certainly does not cost 400-600 bucks. Yet another example of carmakers enriching their bottom line at the expense of screwing consumers
Error in title: 2024 encore not 2023.
Nick's a much tougher grader than Alex and Brian! :-)
Which is good. Alex and Brian are too lenient.
Daughter has 2021 Encore GX preferred. It was $25k new. The interior is surprisingly nice with soft touch surfaces everywhere. It also very quiet. The 1.2L I3 is surprisingly quick, smooth, and paired with CVT never works really hard. It hums along at just 2300 rpm at 70mph. Never feels underpowered. Dont knock it until you try it
I just bought a 2021 this week. It's nice
I like the styling on the new Encore GX. This vehicle would have been much better all-around as an EV. Words better performance, and economy.
Nicely done Nick. I'd take an Avenir to escape the black plastic trim.
The front end styling is fine. Progression in styling is needed. If I were shopping in that category, I would definitely consider this vehicle despite the powertrain (which is a negative for me). Powertrain longevity is the final deciding point...which will take a few years to test out.
Nah. Front styling is bad. Shouldn't have split headlights. They're impractical.
The lower trims are good value, especially bc Buick are usually offered with discounts below MSRP. For ~$25k this is good value. The AWD versions and higher trims are overpriced.
Envista seems like the better choice, Envista has a longer wheelbase and significantly more rear legroom (important for child seats).
edit: I have to admit I like that colour.
Nick, How many takes did you have to do before you could say $35,000 without breaking up?🤔😉😂🤣
You clearly have not experienced the market lately.
Buick stepping it up! Looks nice inside and out
Your video title/headline says 2023, but it is really the 2024 Encore GX. You should fix this.
Yes, it's definitely a 2024. I like the color on this one, I have the same model and I have NO complaints!!!!!!!
So this is nearly identical to the Bolt EUV that I have and would absolutely not buy that encore. The bolt with incentives is like $9k cheaper, uses no gas and hops to 60 in mid 6's, and has flat rear floor in back seat
Overall this is a very strong vehicle, but the Envista is just as nice if you don't need AWD. This said, my choice in the segment would be the Corolla Cross Hybrid which will trounce this in MPG and acceleration, with a comparable ride quality but def. giving up a bit in luxury.
Sidenote: ya'll at AoA or whatever this channel is called now need to calibrate your 'report card' type ratings. No way would Alex have given handling here a "C"
Buick has come up with some decent cars the past but just can't seem to get the right combo to sell a lot of cars. Best example was the Regal TourX, definitely car that should have taken some Outback sales but simply languished. I seriously considered it before purchasing my third Outback but in the end it was a Buick and that just didn't cut it for me -- and many others apparently.
Regarding this Encore, looks are decent, but 19" wheels -- come, on Buick, what's the point, seriously?!? If I were in the market for a car this size I would definitely go of a Niro, Corolla Cross, or Seltos over this. A nicely equipped 24 Niro LX is larger, nicer, and gets 50+ mpg for only a couple thousand more..
Is this dreamboat single? Asking for myself.
Alex has an eye for good aesthetics 😍
Thank you, you saved me a trip to the Buick dealer and convinced me to cross this (and its twin the Chevy Trailblazer) off of my list.
Make sure and continually repeat how tall you are to help with visual reference. Alex does this and it's now burned into my brain.
Great review! Very detailed and thorough. Do you think the ride would be softer and the cabin noise would be quieter in the Avenir trim? For me, it's either this or the Trailblazer RS which is basically the same car.
Nice review but please move your camera to show vehicle part that you're talking about
I miss heard the curb weight. I looked up the curbe wight on the Buick website the cube wight is
3025 lb / 1372 kg.
2:26 he says just over 3200lbs..
@@ALMX5DP your right I miss heard and spent the rest of the video looking it up. I edited my post to reflect. That for pointing out my mistake so it can be corrected
@@itsatoolthing6323 no worries at all. Kinda surprising hearing how much it weighs for a subcompact but everything these days seems to get more features and safety stuff so maybe not surprising lol.
The base engine needs to be 1.3T, with a better optional engine.
Excellent review, thanks
Does all the external gloss black get dusty/dirty and easily scratched?
I think the Kona/Seltos/CX 30 interiors are all superior to this along with better power trains for less money. I don’t understand Buick as a brand. Nothing they make is quality or nice looking. This reminds me of a Ford Escape form an exterior design standpoint.
I wonder if this engine also has a wet timing belt like the 3 cyl Ecoboost.
The one in the Trax does, and I assume it’s the same.
I 💕 LOVE the front end just need fog lights
So this car does come with Carplay and Android Auto? Only the GM EV's will not offer Carplay and Android Auto? So confusing!
Where is Alex?
I would not trust so small an engine with so few cylinders paired with turbos to last in the long run on a vehicle that size.
I also am not a fan of the styling. It looks so much like everything else now. Bring back the waterfall grille and give em a right proper engine!
I love the front end!
Um who is this 😍
He's a 10. 😂 😍
My local mechanic says these turbos fail around 45k miles.
I have a 2023 Bolt EV and it looks similar inside and outside minus the gas engine and small other things. I ended up paying just $25k in California.
I have one. AMA.
Um, just OK. I'm sure these will be heavily discounted, because that's getting into some bigger, more capable competitors at that price. I fo like the styling, and the color, but that's hardly enough.
The base Buick or the top spec Chevy. 🤔
Oof, those scores. Give this man a better car to review. I want to see some A's.
Mid 20's sure. Anything over, forget it.
"Performance is mostly from like 10 miles per hour till about 30." 😂😂😂
This front design language doesn't look good on this stubby front. It looks much better on the new Envista, which has a longer, lower front. I'd like this color better if it were darker and a little more brownish of an orange.
and how tall is he?
Nick, does this need GM subscription to use Carplay/AA?
No, CP/AA is standard
@@AAutoBuyersGuide Cool that alone has some value among GM cars
"Man Spread a little bit!?!?" That's the most hilarious thing I've heard in a review about the backseat leg room....
The front end resembles the pre 2024 Ford Escape, with that wide mouth grill below. Wasn't a fan of it either
i like this dude
Oh, and you don't have to mention every feature. Put the focus on the things that matter, not the badges and finishes of specific parts. We can see those in the video.
For the $35K of this mid-model there are several other vehicles many with hybrid engines and significantly better MPG. Not withstanding the ugly front end and the anemic 3 cylinder engine the consumer feedback suggests that this model should be avoided. Assembled in Korea was a surprise but not enough to justify the price.
Well, only idiots pay MSRP for these. These are usually heavily discounted and mid-tier trims can be had in the mid $20ks. I have already seen 2024s at $5k off MSRP. At that price, it is a good value.
LOL that 1.3 L "bicycle" engine is really funny to listen to and see the performance. I get double the horsepower and equal fuel mileage from my 3.6L V6 in my LaCrosse with half the accelerator pressure! The front styling is fine. The big selling point (design wise) is the single glass panel screen tucked under the dash. Even though the screen present differently with the images, it still looks wonderful. The rest of the car is meh! I wouldn't pay $35K-$40K for the ST or Avenir trim levels. Knowing how the Infotainment integrates (Buick/GM have a know issue integrating with Apple products) it is just not worth it. I could get anything from Hyundai/Kia for cheaper or get more vehicle for that price range!
Had one (unfortunately) as a rental. One large suitcase in trunk - it was full. Super weak on the highway. Ended up with same mileage as my 333 hp 6 cylinder 2012 Hyundai genesis sedan. The encore was AWFUL.
Awkward shots of the interior.
Alex really needs to teach him how to setup a shot, it’s supposed to look like how the driver would see it.
Does it seriously have manual HVAC temperature control at $35K?
I get the whole doing the Alex approach on videos and that’s fine, but Alex is his own person with his own opinions meaning I really wanted to know HIS opinions on this and the aviner envision because what he calls a soft ride in his OPINION will differ from others OPINIONS. As well as seat comfort ETC. I love the help others bring to you and savagegeese, but it ultimately feels like we’re watching a TH-cam channel from someone else , not AOA or savagegeese.. it almost feels like we might as well subscribe to the people on screen since that’s who’s opinion where getting. If that makes sense. Hopefully you can do your own stand alone envision video but I know that’s almost 100% unlikely until a refresh unfortunately.
Alex does not have any more time than anyone else does, time is the same for everyone, 24h a day, without help we would get less videos
I would really consider this a "girl" SUV, small demensions and it's hard for a taller/larger man to fit. It definitely looks good though.
A 3 cylinder engine is a definite NO...
Koenigsegg enters the chat. 😅
Oh no. Are non-studs allowed to drive this Buick?
How is very good a B-? Confusing.
YOU'RE BETTER OFF GETTING A SUBARU FORESTER
Nowhere near the same level of technology or design aesthetic.
I watched this video solely because of the reviewer, next time lose the sunglasses
That's embarrassing.
Not sure who is buying Buicks these days. They’ve always been hideous and unreliable. Hard to shift public opinion when, um, they still look hideous with shoddy construction.
Poor review. Seems very last miute, thrown together. Alex reviewed the previous version and gave it high marks. It was obviusly you didn't like the vehicle right out of the gate.
All car prices are too high not worth the money. No car is worth no more than 30,000
INSANELY overpriced. Price shouldn't exceed $26k. Thing is small, cheaply made, underpowered. Greedy GM.
