The back and forth story about you & Lew drunk at The Tropicana had me laughing more than any other Pubcast story. I especially liked your imitation of the birds calling out gambling phrases. Another night you didn’t understand Lew or his paranoia, but it makes a great story. Thanks for sharing.
@@harrietcraig6716 At least it was before his big time days. (Sounded like). Can you imagine the reaction of gamblers “Hey, wasn’t that Lewis Black dragging Kathleen Madigan around saying he knew where to hide from cameras? WTF man, they’re back by the birds?? What’s next, Ron White with the cigars and more booze? The life of a comic”
Re The Quiet Man … Maureen O’Hara isn’t Mia Farrow’s mother. Her mother is Maureen O’Sullivan. Glad you’re back! You were missed. Prayers for your dad.🙏🏻
Im sorry ur dad is sick but im happy to hear he is doing better than the doctors were saying...my uncle had alot of very life threatening illnesses, that started from an injury in the navy and it was constantly one thing after another with organs not working right etc...the doctors gave him just days❤ to live several different times and he lived another 20 yeara after that ❤
We saw you in New Orleans we live next door to the theater I think I have your whole career memorized you're such a blessing Kathleen to so many people ❤️ and yes I do not recall and I need an attorney well we're just sitting in home depot's parking lot we thought they opened at 6:00😂 I've got a thousand more❤❤❤
When I was young, ten or so, there was a 99 cent store in Oxnard, California. They closed before the 1970s. It was fun to go in there because I never had much more than a dollar or two.
So happy you're dad is doing well, and that you're back in action! My husband surprised me with tickets to your show in Detroit Saturday, right in front! ( like 4 rows back). Bringing my super fun neighbor and friend to turn her into a termite! Can't wait!!
So missed the pubcast! A relatively new subscriber started in Jan. But Have thoroughly enjoyed it. Hearing your dad is still kicking and some of what he says made me die laughing. I have parents with illnesses and know how difficult this can be. Especially when you are not living near them! All the Best!
Just FYI cicadas are not poisonous to pets but they can be spikey. If Chapo vomits or loses his appetite, a cicada shell could be stuck in his gut causing irritation and potential problems. He can have a snacky snacky but shouldn't indulge in a feast!
Just lost our great grandmother at 102, less than two weeks from her 103rd birthday. She "rallied" for years... we will all go in our time, the medical establishment isn't very good at telling us when. I think all we can do is approach it with humor and love, like pretty much everything else. Good luck, mama termite, shanks for the giggles.
Hi Kathleen, about hallucinations, our mom had some (seeing cats and dogs in the room), and it turned out to be the only symptom of a UTI. Our dad had them for two weeks after being dosed with Dilaudid; it’s very hard on our turtles.
Put Celine on the save the feral casino cats campaign. If you were home you could adopt some & have your cartel cats mingle with the casino cats. Drug lords vs. gangsters. Got the sitcom in my mind.
Thanks for all the laughs! Hang in there, it's another wild ride of life. I've been through it too, and am still here to grouse about it. You hit the crazies aspects of it all spot on. Blessings to you and yours.
Love having you back, but we understand and sympathize with you for what you and your family have been going through. You have your priorities and heart straight, girl.
my Dad was on 23 meds a day, went on hospice, took him off most of them and he did better than before and lived another year, I think lots of people are overmedicated; glad your Dad is better
My dad used to love to bring McDonald's to his neighborhood morning get togethers in Florida. One year, we gave him a big McDonald's gift card for some occasion. He loved going in there and buying a big stack of McGriddles or whatever he felt like that day. He said he'd pull out that card and say, "take it off my gift card!". Oh, I miss the old guy!
Dollar General costs 'generally a dollar', anywhere from 1.29 - 5.99, and it is all junk. Dollar Store, everything is a dollar and there is packaged food, the Plus store has refrigerator/freezer. .99 Cent is any price they can get away with, nothing is .99 sense. Dollar Tree is a fancy version of the .99 Cent store. Big Lots used to be McFrugal's until that was deemed bigoted so they had to change their name, and they have pretty good deals on overstock and close-out items. The one by me had broken lights and was Big __t's at night for a long time, so we called it the wrong name.
You have the Best stories.. wish we could see your pictures. BTW I Love what your father said to the grandson in Ireland 😂😂😂😂😂. My grandfather emigrated from Ireland and sang old revolution rebellion songs about the English taking the lands in the North till the day he dies back in 1978. I would walk down the hallway from the elevator in the nursing home and you could hear him singing at the top of his lungs😅.
I just lost my mom and I lost track of how many times she rallied in the last three months. I'm a peds oncology survivor and I grew up in a family of nurses. I know the patients still have to ride the medical staff to keep things in order. Prayers go out to the family. Thanks for the podcast. Love ya.
just remember, Kathleen, medical school is pass/fail - there are no grades. So you don't know if you got the doc who was top of his class or the turkey who partied his ass off every night, bought notes from other med students, and barely made it through the medical board exam. They've all got the same MD at the end of their names. Thanks again, America.
My dad saw dead people after he had a brain tumour removed. They had the best conversations! Sorry you're going through this, Kathleen. Sending prayers to you, your dad and family.
Kathleen- Please let me know how to get in touch with Ron Thomas. I just moved from Pasadena where I was feeding and TNR-ing feral cats. My biggest regret of moving (back to St. Louis, actually!), is leaving those cats. I would love to send $$ to him for the cause. Thanks in advance 😻😻 Edited to say: or…I could just deal with the cold needy Missouri feral population…which I am doing. Old habits die hard. Maybe I just have too much time on my hands 🤔
Love you so hard. My mom saw The Quiet Man when she was young and babysitting, and loved Maureen O'Hara's character's name so much (Mary Kate Danaher) that she named me Mary Katherine so I would be Mary Kate. So I was Mary Kate before anyone had ever heard of the famous twins. Tickled me that you mentioned the movie.
Yayyy! Happy to hear that Jackalope is still sassy as ever and that the Pubcast has returned! I’m an NJ termite and when my husband and I applied for our marriage license in 2019 we had to certify that we weren’t 1st cousins or more closely related (the fact that 2nd cousin was A-OK still boggles my mind but 🤷🏼♀️) so I’m wondering if this enforced on a municipal level instead of state? Either way, the family tree should branch out and not straight!
Glad Jack still has shit to do so he's not going anywhere yet. I know how draining this time can be for families, though. Hang in there, Kat. And what happened to the Big Foot Growling thing I got for you in January? It's almost as funny as your screaming goat 😂
Yaayyy! Mama T! You don’t ever have to apologize for the sh%# life throws at everyone. We get it, many have been right where you are… or are dreading what we all know is coming. I love that you are able to find the levity in some of the end of life bs. I’m glad y’all have made time to be with your dad; it will be important for him and each of you. How’s your mom coping? Is she smoking yet? Peace on you and yours💖✨
Hasn't Jimmy Carter been in hospice for over a year now?? I so respect that man and hope he keeps going for as long as he isn't in pain, but it goes to show that doctors can't always predict end of life.
@@ClaySanford-e8o Carter didn't found Habitat but it was started in Georgia and he has been involved in it for decades, pounding nails with the best of them. I admire his integrity and humility. Your kitty sounds so sweet with that meow. Sweet Pea, our now full grown kitty has really takin' a liking to the Costco cooked chicken dinners. We give her the fatty skin and I eat the rest, and my bad cholesterol has dropped tremendously. 😆
Hi Kathy. Missed you. Talking about the billionaires buying up all the land, it’s happening too on the east coast. All around Rehoboth Beach were hundreds of small farms and lots of small developments of inexpensive small summer cottages that have been bought or taken over. Now building McMansions everywhere, exclusive, and all the people who had these little summer places are out of luck because of the prices increased and no one can afford to live here like they were. Scary stuff. Gonna destroy everywhere. I love how baby cat cry’s to you but cats NEVER come when called. Frustrating little love bugs😅
