I was getting ready to buy a baby/toddler swing to put on our set for our 10 month old grand baby. I was looking on Amazon and they were running $40-$60. I go to thrift stores on a regular basis and just a few days after I was looking on Amazon I found a brand new Little Tykes swing for $10!! This happens all the time!

Yes! I use these little bags all the time. There’s just two of us, so when I but fresh meat I use those to make small portions then put them in a large freezer bag.

We drive from Michigan to Texas quite frequently, moving back to Texas by summers end. I pack sandwiches, snacks and water. I’m not stopping at Buccees or those types of places and pay a fortune for food. That goes for fast food as well. Hubby isn’t always happy about it until I tell him how much $$ I saved him🤣.
My mom used to fry a chicken the night before a trip. We had cold chicken and ice cold water. There wasn’t places to stop between Houston and Jackson, MS in the ‘60’s.

I use those sandwich bags for storing diced green peppers in the freezer 1/2 cup in each bag. I twirl the end closed to make a ball and it goes in a gallon ziplock bag tightly packed. Then the peppers are used in cooking and by making them into a ball they have no/less freezer burn. I keep a ziplock bag in the fridge freezer to gather the empties to reuse because I'm always forgetting to buy more.

In addition to the hamburger hack if I'm chopping onions for a meal I chop up the rest of the onion, bag it in 1/2 cup increments and freeze them.
I'm with you on the boiled peanuts. The ones you get at "fresh" as in not canned are a bit better.

You have good deals at your thrifty. I live in a pricey area so the thrifty stores are pricey . Some things are a reasonable price and it’s high end stuff. It all depends on the person who prices them. But it’s a very clean and well organized so I cannot complain. Still cheaper than buying brand new at mall or Amazon.

Love it, I just finished making my own brown sugar with molasses instead of paying for the store bought, made a pot of chili for dinner tonight, made date puff pastry squares and we are set. People ask me what do we do with all the money we save...paid cash for the bathroom renovation, new deck, new pool liner, new awnings, it all goes to increasing the value of our property and not to take out restaurants....factories that shred cheese haha

Even when that bit of beef or chicken fat doesn't seem like much, i save it. I freeze it and use it for roasting veggies, etc. The broth that comes off of a tray of chicken or the excess broth from a roast, I make sure to save. 1 cup broth doesn't seem like much, but that's a cup of soup. It all adds up. I love the non zipping baggies for the price! I definitely use them to save the odds and ends from dinner

You were brave to try those boiled peanuts. They're vile, and I say that as a Southerner. You need to try Virginia peanuts, from southside Virginia, specifically the Smithfield/Isle of Wight area. Big, fat, out of the shell, crunchy roasted peanuts, lightly salted...they're amazing!

$29 is fantastic for a pizza with a lot of toppings! My family (all boys) gets two medium pizzas with only two toppings (I won’t allow more because it costs more), and an order of 6 garlic knots for $50. That’s a pick up order so
I won’t have to pay a delivery fee. It’s the most affordable NY style pizza in our are, and personally our favorite. How any times do I order pizza in a year? Three, maybe four times.

I have three Goodwills and two antique stores near me. They do not have these prices. The only way I could get these prices is by going to garage sales only. Too cold here in the PNW for garage sales right now. We only have them during the summer months. Your very lucky.

PLEASE SEND MY APPRECIATION & THANKS TO YOUR MOM…several Drs have told me that I have what they call a toxic sensitivity - that explains why sometimes it can be hard to breathe and my skin burns & gets itchy depending on what I’m around. That means no soap, air fresheners, cleaning products, double rinse my laundry & gloves when I do dishes etc etc…..I have actually sent my son back home shower and change when he showed up wearing cologne.
I started using the baking soda to clean my hair. IT WORKS, clean - soft - no more itching and best of all my hair stopped falling out. Works better than anything the Drs prescribed THANK YOU. I hope she will know how much I appreciate her, to me she is a star.🌟🌟🌟🌟

@@LivingOnADime there's definitely a fine line and that was all I was saying. Kinda like things are to be used and people are to be loved. Too often people buy stuff they never needed and it ends up being a hurdle to a clean house because there's this pile they can't bear to let go of. My mother for instance used to have so much clutter that you couldn't see the treasure.
      There's a fine line lol

We throw very little food away. Several years ago, we tossed abiut a half a jar of waxy, store brand mayo. In 2020, it was most of a 29oz can of boiled peanuts with red pepper flakes. Than goodness we decided to taste test before buying a quantity for the pantry!
