While I get why Coverdale would want to keep trying new things this was a lineup and set of songs (Live in the Heart of the City era) that define classic Whitesnake (for me). Superb, sublime, soulful stuff. Coverdale at his vocal best around this time. What a voice, great lineup and wondeful songs. Thanks for finding and uploading the clip.
when discussing live albums, they bang on about UFO and the who but, for me, live in the heart of the city is miles better. great singer and not a duff track on it.
I always thought Bernie was a perfect guitarist for Coverdale mainly because his voice blends so well on the harmonies but also because his solos are so melodic.
this song will always have a place in my heart... a good friend of mine took his own life and used this song as a "Note".... I love this song but it is so bittersweet for me.
This is by far the best Whitesnake. This is a band! The shared vocals are so beautiful... Davids voice works best when there is someone like Bernie (or Glenn Hughes) to back it up. Love this lineup like no other. Okay, later on there were some astonishing guitarists involved, but this is simply stunning.
Both Jon Lord and Ian Paice (from Deep Purple) were bandmates of David C.... and they joined him to record this in the studio and tour. This album/song has been in my collection over 40 years... (damn, has it been that long?)
This is the DC that I grew up with in the 70's and 80's, was really disappointed to see him live in 04, a note for bzaluh the music scene in the UK was very different to the states in the 70's and 80's, Whitesnake were British.
@gsv800r It's great to hear some real fans that realize that although good, Vai wasn't the driving force behind Whitesnake. I love all WS, and anything that DC sings. Great post!!!! 100 thumbs up!!!!!
Best lineup, best songs, Coverdale vixls at an all time high. Plus, you have Jon Lord and Ian Paice, both were never bettered and Neil Murray's bass work is just sublime. Paicey's groove is just fantastic, whereas Tommy Aldridge is mainly all power, no finesse, no light and shade., he murders 'Ain' t No Love In The Heart of The City' and the Deep Purple songs Whitisnake have covered.
Thanks!!!! Time past away, but I keep listneing the same music since I was 15... It´s so difficult for me to discover new interesting music... just old R&B, jazz from 70s, you Know...
I love Whitesnake from the beginning... but I just think the band moved with the times too, i mean everyone is influenced by current music and changes. Dont think DC will ever be a pale shadow of neting tho, he's larger than life an always will be.......:D
Dawna T Nick Simper's lineup brought DP the Billboard Top 5 position. This is the highest they ever had, and someone still not consider it as a classic lineup?))
thanks for notice about that video .. i had no idea i had something like that at all in my records.. no offence but this tells only that judging by that you can tell nothing od someone ..
Judging by your comments and your favorite video (lame nothing else matters karaoke). It's obvious that you still can't tell that music is about performance as much as the music itself. This a tight band with a great singer. And nothing else matters...
Well, it's not "they", it's "he"... David Coverdale fired all the 1987 players and hired a group of vedettes to do the tour. Of course he sold out. If you read a little about the history of the band you'll see how desperate for success he was. He was craving for success in the US. Just watch the ridiculous transformation, and all the things he had to do in order to appear on the infamous MTV.
This is so much better than todays whitesnake :)
all Whitesnake is good Whitesnake. i like their bluesy music too, but i'll never understand the elitism of the "classic" era fans.
Not only my favorite Whitesnake song, but one of my favorite songs EVER.
Agree with all of you!
THIS IS THE REAL WHITESNAKE!!!!!
Thanks for sharing
They had such a raw sound in those days, and what an incredible song, so many people have never had the pleasure of hearing the song

Coverdale traded soul, integrity and authenticity for easy US dollars. You can't have both.
@@portcullis5622 Love this era Whitesnake, an r 'n' b band.
I always thought Bernie was a perfect guitarist for Coverdale mainly because his voice blends so well on the harmonies but also because his solos are so melodic.
music like this is not made anymore, sad times we live in! nothing left but memories...
The good old times with the origial Whitesnake - thank you!!
This is my favorite Whitesnake song. I loved Ready an Willing. Amazing. I've never seen this video, thanks for posting!

this song will always have a place in my heart... a good friend of mine took his own life and used this song as a "Note".... I love this song but it is so bittersweet for me.

David sounds Awesome!
This is by far the best Whitesnake. This is a band!

Yes. This was their best line up ever. I love the Guitar play of Bernie Marsden.
In 1978, David Coverdales own description of Whitesnake was a "Progressive Blues Band".
The Classic line up did three Albums AND THE BEST line up
A beyond-any-limits song.
Only Whitesnake could produce such a melody. God bless them.
One of the best WS' song ever!
The best IMO
Takes me back a few years!!!!! Whitesnake closing the 1980 Reading Festival on the Sunday was one of the many highlights of that year.
87 and tongue years never reached this high class masterpiece
This is the DC that I grew up with in the 70's and 80's, was really disappointed to see him live in 04, a note for bzaluh the music scene in the UK was very different to the states in the 70's and 80's, Whitesnake were British.
Это одна из моих любимых песен именного того Whitesnake!
this is awesome!!!
i'm going to their concert on saturday here in BRAZIL !! can't wait !
@gsv800r It's great to hear some real fans that realize that although good, Vai wasn't the driving force behind Whitesnake. I love all WS, and anything that DC sings. Great post!!!! 100 thumbs up!!!!!
What a song!!! WOW.. I love this and I play and sing this almost every time on my gigs.
Best lineup, best songs, Coverdale vixls at an all time high. Plus, you have Jon Lord and Ian Paice, both were never bettered and Neil Murray's bass work is just sublime. Thanks!!!! Time past away, but I keep listneing the same music since I was 15... It´s so difficult for me to discover new interesting music... just old R&B, jazz from 70s, you Know...

Tremendo. Enhorabuena y gracias por compartirlo.
Excelentísimo :)
i agree, best line up.
Worked with Mel’s Dad in the coal mining industry in the 1960s when Mel was in Trapeze
Real Whitesnake…epic stuff
@TheWhite1961 Bernie Marsden and Mickey Moody together, a match made in heaven
Didn´t read the comments.... it´s very near to the "Live in the Heart of the City" version. And, well, what should i say, its amazing! I love it!
¡GRANDÍSIMOS!
this is ROCK!!!! thx for the video
Same show as "Live in the heart of the city" album easily the best line up question is where is the rest??
la mejor banda de rock de todos los tiempos......
Paice and Murray swung the shit out of anything they touched..Cozy and Colin were passable replacements but not a patch on this rhythm section.
Amazing gospel song - did the heavy rock guys realise?! x
el disco live in the heart in the city.una de las cosas que me llevaria a una isla
O melhor!
💓💓💓💓💓
BEST WHITESNAKE LINE-UP EVER
@Hubbel2010 You might be able to hook your speaker output to your stereo and bring out the bass, and trim the top end a bit.--
the whitesnake.........end of story
great song:)
I FULLY AGREE WITH YOU
the real whitesnake
There’s a Redcar lad, right there...
I love Whitesnake from the beginning... but I just think the band moved with the times too, i mean everyone is influenced by current music and changes. Dont think DC will ever be a pale shadow of neting tho, he's larger than life an always will be.......:D
😍🌹

RIP Bernie Marsden.
@gsv800r
This is so true...!
Fl mejor tema de la Serpiente Blanca, increiblemente subvalorado
saltburns finest
3/5 of second classic Deep Purple line up
Dawna T Nick Simper's lineup brought DP the Billboard Top 5 position. This is the highest they ever had, and someone still not consider it as a classic lineup?))
Great tune! Was this when the snake opened for Jethro Tull in 1980? IIRC I remember DC saying something about that in an interview once.
thanks for notice about that video .. i had no idea i had something like that at all in my records.. no offence but this tells only that judging by that you can tell nothing od someone ..
@midnighttilldawn David is forgiven since he's the author, so maybe he wanted to call the song like that when he wrote it xD
Real whitespace before big hair debacle!!
@stashyjon Yes! I agree......
... најбоља ... :-)
