    This weekend, me and my 2 amigos went wild camping at Loch Bradan in the Galloway Forest Park. Weather was as usual, absolutely grim. Temps topped about 14c in both days and at night got down to about 9c. In summer. I wasn't keen on swimming as it was too close to the dam and I had no idea what was underneath - it got deep very quickly.

    Lovely shots of all the cooking, but no people shots, seems like you had a couple of njce mates with u but I guess they were camera shy. Monty, any trout in the loch there? I just found out you have a dog , yet Ive never seem him or her in any of your trips, how come?

    • @MontyOutdoors
      @MontyOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my recent videos I keep people shots to a minimal as I feel they break the "wild" experience if that makes sense? And I believe trout is commonly found in the Galloway Forest Park :) Sadly she's elsewhere mate and I miss her. Her name is Misty.

    Hi was just wondering is there a lot of midges here? Thinking of driving up at the weekend for a couple of nights!

    • @MontyOutdoors
      @MontyOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This area is bad for midgies, Charlotte. I didn't have an issue because there was wind, but the Galloway Forest Park is probably the worst for midgies in ideal midgie conditions. Although, I actually haven't heard Loch Bradan being too bad for them. When it was briefly calm, there was a small number enough to be a nuisance, but not enough to ruin the trip for as long as you have a deet based product/smidge and a fire. My experience mind you. I hope this helps.

      Glad I can be of help mate. If you want an easy wild camping trip then Loch Doon. Hopefully with it coming into autumn soon there will be less people out, as Loch Doon has plenty of spots, like hundreds, it's stunning and there is a little shop. If you want something more wild, then park at Stincher Bridge our the south side of Loch Doon and walk in. Plenty of spots and lochs in that area.

    Great video how busy does it get this time of year, Im thinking of trying an overnighter next weekend.

    • @MontyOutdoors
      @MontyOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Loch Bradan I would say is one of the quieter lochs, mate. Not far is Loch Doon and it's incredibly busy. The road to Loch Bradan is also closed meaning you need to park outside somewhere and then walk in, which as you can imagine, encourages people not to visit. Glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching :).

    Hi mate, are there many good pitching places at Loch Bradan that are close(ish) to a road? My friends and I are wanting to park up but without walking too far, we aren't as fit as we would like to be haha, thanks!
    P.s Been enjoying watching your videos mate, I've only been wild camping twice but watching your content is making me want to go out more often!

    • @MontyOutdoors
      @MontyOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Loch Bradan isn't really that rich in camping spots and most camping spots are about a 30 minute walk from where many ditch their cars. I normally park at Stincher Bridge and walk in, or park at the end of the road where Stincher Bridge car park is, just follow the road all the way down to the closed gate and head towards Loch Bradan from there, but keep to the left hand side of the loch. I did another video on Loch Bradan: th-cam.com/video/NMbh9U-eYOI/w-d-xo.html and you'll see there's a few more spots down here.
      Aw that's great to hear mate and thanks so much. Where have you been wild camping?
